  • Well he sure got JC's blank expression down very well

  • bad ass cyborgs, wear wrist watches.

  • lol, metal gear the movie intro

  • @red120

Can't blame him eh? Beast game

  • Nice work!

  • no #326

    it was nice

old-fashioned, yes, but.. it has some "spirit"

  • Nice ponytail.

  • Looks more inspired my MGS than DX, lol.

  • Phew.. No more trolls, peace on Earth :)

  • I wouldn't say I 'liked' it per se, but it made me smile a little and it looks like you had fun. and with those criterion, good job ^^

  • that's fair enough!

  • 262 people thought it would be a cool, real deux ex movie trailer... so they disliked... just like me...

  • J C can't jump from a helicopter ...

  • @manoelmac Can if you consider that in Sci-fi most things are possible AND that this was a school assignment

  • ehm, nice try but JC Denton didnt have long hair :P

  • I like that, dude. I really do. Cannot wait for the new deus ex to be released.

And very cool is that this takes place in 2052. I will only be 62 then. So I will still be alive most likely.

  • Still nothing like this on Youtube as far as I know, not taking any comments from what I call unqualified trolls. Easy to sit in your couch pointing fingers. I say, go and film something serious instead of VIDEO GAME clips, SKATEBOARDING clips, then I will listen to constructive criticism. I only leave those, all others go to the bin. Yes I do check your profiles!

  • @Camthaleon You can't just dismiss critics because they aren't 'qualified' to criticise your film. It wasn't that good - it shows potential but it wasn't amazing.

  • @finbomartini what I replied manoel: Can if you consider that in Sci-fi most things are possible AND that this was a school assignment. I know it's not great, it's 5 years old!!! People should check out my newer material. Having said that, it's easy to criticize when you never made a movie in your life as someone also commented below and I agree with that. It is an unbelievable amount of work!

  • I understand that you must have worked hard on this and Deus Ex is a lot to take on. it didn't really remind me a whole lot of the game, but it was definitely interesting. Perhaps if you had added some small clips of other characters as well, like Manderley, Simons, Navarre, or Hermann. Just ignore morons who tell you this is crap because it's not, they've probably never tried to make a movie in their life, and I don't see anyone else trying to do something like this for such a great game.

  • @unclehappy1 Thank you and yes, it's made in 2006 though, so you are looking at smth 5 years old and made at film school. Back then we all did our best, this was actually a greenscreen assignment. There's so much I would do differently, if I were to do it ever again.

  • Dude, you do not look bad ass enough (nothing personal). You need to get rid of that pony tail first of all, then hit the gym for about 8 years while eating 5x a day to get you some bulged muscles. Then you need to grow a half beard, have your nose broken twice and a cut through the lower left jaw up to the upper left eyebrow. Then you can make this movie again, because it is only then, when it, or you, will look BAD ASS.

  • Not a bad attempt, as for a fan made thing.

P.S. Can anyone please tell me the name of the song during the end credits ?

  • @apexprimebest Lacuna Coil-Heaven's a Lie

  • @Camthaleon

Oh, thank you very much. I couldn't get that music out of my head)))

  • please add fan made in title next time:P

  • Make a Deus Ex inspired movie. You have a good concept but just make something original. Later.

  • I like the part where the Deus Ex Intro pops up and the music starts rolling.

  • deus ex music rocks

  • -The statue of liberty's head was blown off by French terrorists

-JC arrived on the island by boat

-JC's infolink was patched directly into the nerves of his hear, so no one should be able to hear it

    -Akimbo pistols? that's un-possibol

-When you arrive on liberty island your legs aren't augmented yet, so JC should have died from that fall

If you make a (fake) trailer for a movie based on such a popular game you should expect criticism

    sorry about that lol :D

  • @happyking9 If you take the game LITERALLY, then I agree. But even Peter Jackson cut out a lot of Tolkien out of Lord of the Rings and added his own spins on stuff. It's all about understanding really. Creative mind is one that can innovate out of the basic concepts...

  • @Camthaleon Although I agree that a filmmaker should have his own spin on things (Jackson, is a very bad example, since he butchered those movies). Some things, however, shouldn't be changed, Such as the terrorist attack. Plane or boat, and weapon selection is perfectly alright to improvise. As far the Infolink, pointed out by "happyking9", you did it right (as a filmmaker, you acknowledged the audience).

You did alright with it, man, just stay in cannon. lol! I hope you finish the project.

  • @streetcrazy Oh ya, I hear you. No way I could afford somebody designing a statue of liberty without its head. Of course I learned After Effects since then, so a simple mask would solve the problem.

  • @Camthaleon

Yeah not gonna lie dude Jackson fucked up Tolkien big time. Terrible example.

The visual was all there, but the bits he removed and added destroyed pacing. "Hey, guys! Guess what I think is useless information? Denethor's use of the Palantir! It would take about 10 minutes. But you know what I think is useful information? This hour-long awful love-story I wrote based loosely on one of Tolkien's background stories, complete with Aragorn crying about everything and terrible dialogue!"

  • @happyking9 Let's not forget that JC didn't meet Jock until a few levels into the game :P

The first half of it looked really good (I understand that you couldn't get a shot of the Statue of Liberty with its head blown off, and besides it makes it feel more like the cheap ripoffs Hollywood does), but the second half kind of fell apart. JC shouldn't talk unless he has something worthwhile to say, and definitely shouldn't cut words casually short ("See ya later, Jock" just seemed weird.)

  • @happyking9 I get everything else, but how is akimbo pistols impossible? I mean, sure, it's not in the game but it's not that big of a deal, the others make sense.

  • @happyking9 you also forgot JC was a rookie this guy looks like a overconfident guy thats gonna get him self killed and the optical cloack that shouldnt be there yet! only thing that could have saved this trailer was if they show that the head was blown off of the statue ^_^

  • @happyking9 Not everything can be just like the game.

  • @happyking9 Not everyone is perfect, so just stfu.

  • Nice job Dae, looks like they got the idea for the ILS from watching this!

  • very 90s action film

  • MGS2? Lol nice one.

  • @TearsOfWar1

That's actually just Metal Gear Solid..

  • @HudsonMacReady Maybe I didn't pay attention lol

  • why is the beginning in Japanese?

  • hah nice try

  • good attempt man, I understand you don't exactly have a hollywood budget or anything.

  • Hehe, what a cool editing! I loved when you mixed Metal Gear Solid 2's opening.

I know it's a fanmade video, but Deus Ex had really deserved a film. But trust me: it wouldn't be that good.

  • @dannyrockmgs I believe that one of the best things in Deus Ex is that many things of the storyline change according to what you have done before. So, unless they make an interactive movie... But wait, that would be a game. lol

  • I think Deus Ex would make a good Series of movies, as long as it is done properly.

  • What a nerd..^^

  • I wish JC could dual wield in deus ex...

  • 1:09 Gray denton

  • oh yes i really would want that they would make a a movie out of it... oh yes...

  • Actually not bad. I like how you did the intro. And I can't blame you for not looking like JC, who does? (I don't) :D

However, I think the whole thing is too much the casual Hollywood video game movie. Like, super heroes all in black with dual guns and Hans Zimmer in the background. Also, JC isn't Neo. :D

If there was a Deus Ex movie, I'd somehow prefer it to be some kind of indie movie without any popular actor, more a drama than an action movie.

  • Good job guys! It would actually be awesome is they really make a movie of this game!

  • @alekcendre No. Movies based on games suck.

Why? Same reason why books based on movies suck. Games have more expressive power than movies.

Deus Ex is a great game... Let's just leave it at that.

  • Good attempt man. As one film-maker to another I was impressed. It's a shame about the green screen.

Also, I would have used a watch model that was not so ubiquitous. If necessary, make it into a prop by gluing extra crap onto it. Right now it looks like JC went budget on the watch. :D

  • @1Project1Haiduc1 Thanks man, yeah i also noticed I forgot to change the time on the watch, I think it says something like 5pm , yeah and it's pitch black outside at 5?? Yeah it was a nice little experiment altogether. Check out my latest work though..

  • The video game intro should have been the way to go. And JC would never hold pistols in the air looking like rookie cop. He's too cool. Lol. But yeah, entertaining indeed.

  • I will not consider comments from losers that never made a movie themselves and have no idea how they are made and how much work goes into making one. Often the nay-sayers have a video of skateboarding or some crap like that so don't judge me if you are not experienced in my field. Also not this was done 4 years ago, at least check out the more recent work.

  • @Camthaleon lol

  • @Camthaleon yup trolls gonna troll ^^

  • This is still worth watching, because it's entertaining.

  • That's so funny when the edge of the green screen comes into shot. Very good! :)

  • @Jamesmurraytest You mean at the end? That wasn't even a greenscreen, that was a poorly lit white piece of wall coz we had to finish the lab early..

  • As a satire, it's almost perfect. Some 16yr old Gothic starring as JC... nothing beats that!

  • hey, isn't that track in the beginning the "Dark Asia" theme from Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines?

  • You've got sharp ears my friend. Yes it is..

  • that game ruled.

  • it's too chaotic, gut I liked the very beginning. I wouldn't like this as a movie intro :/

  • was fine

  • you seems more like max payne.

akimbo isnt in deus ex, and i hope it will never be in.

  • If you were trying to capture the first game, Denton is wearing a long black leather coat, and is wearing a bullet proof vest underneath not a black button up.

  • either that or one of the guys from all them 'matrix ' movies, should play some part in it.

  • Very funny parody, 4 stars!

  • Gerard Butler should play JC!

  • yeah I agree

  • JC DENTON is 1.95 cm and over 100 kg!

  • in paris street in a computer say is aprox 6 feet = 1.82 cm -.-

  • JC is 1.82 Cm and over 90kg

  • This is pretty cool.

  • Apparently DE 3 is coming out next year... Can't wait..

  • hope its liek the first one, never palyed number 2 cuz it didnt seem rly good, maybe i palyed it for like 5 mins, thats it..

nothing could top the first one.. except (3)? :D

  • Arigato! 自分の動画素晴らしいです

  • Would be OK, if it would be in english..

  • Well, there are subs for you to read. I have a strong Japanese influence in my filmmaking so expect a lot of International content.

  • Chris Bale for JC ;)

  • I think Eric Bana should play Paul.

  • see you later jock, lololol. mate i thought it was fucking excellent up until 0:58. I think you should work on bringing whats contained in that section out more. good job though man best game ever.

  • JC should say, "what are we waiting for, looks like a text book assault." and then suddenly cut to some really loud action scenes and explosions.

  • Undergrads huh? DUde, get a fucking life.

  • whats the song in the end?

  • Dude, read the credits, it's Lacuna Coil, Heaven's a Lie. But at least if you went to Wikipedia and looked through the band itself, you would have found it.

  • He's not Keanu Reeves... Silly people

  • Did somebody say he was Keanu Reeves? In either case, sorry but Keanu is just a bad actor, that's all there is to that.

  • Looks too Latina for me. Navarre, definitely is from some Eastern country.

  • My dad said maybe Eva Mendes for Anna Navarre. But Idk, i mean she's too much of a sex-icon. who agrees w/ my dad?

  • NSF they want to make people ddddead

  • Lol I think you exaggerated JC's appearance.. He's neither Neo nor Lara Croft :D

  • Lol, I know. But I didn't have time to choose anyone, so my fellow filmmaking student had to do it.

  • I want Cate Blanchett for Anne Navarre.

  • we can all dream.

Anyone else think that Christian Bale for JC would be sweet., and Schwartznegger for Gunter. sigh

  • I can see Bale as JC, especially since Equilibrium. I thought Equilibrium was in fact Deus Ex when I first watched it. Schwarzie as Gunther? No way, with his fake German and English accents lol

  • what about Kevin Spacy as Bob Page and Morgan Freeman as Manderley.

Anne Hathaway as Navara, or am i just dreaming

  • Dude Kevin Spacey is awesome, he'd do a good Bob Page. As for Freeman, I'm really tired of seeing him in almost every movie, plus no offense but he's not White. I'm pretty sure Manderley was a White guy in the game. Anne would do a good Navara, I guess..

  • what about Martin Sheen as bob page, and maybe John Cusac as Paul.

  • LOL could you see arnold doing the bomb scene with jock? THERES A BOMB!!!!!! EVERYVONE GET OUT!! VERES A BOOOOMB!!! his face getting real red ahaha

  • hmm did i spot a metal hear solid clip in there?

  • Absolutely, I forgot from which MGS it is but it is from there alright. Just liked that techy intro.

  • That was sweet.

  • Haha, that is a Vampire Bloodlines track in the beginning. You have good taste in games, camthaleon!

  • rofl GRAY FOX stole the ambrosia I KNEW IT!!!!!

  • deus ex dosnt need a movie its a movie in itself

  • Well said!

The game was designed for players to go in the story in different paths, it plays a movie for itself.

  • @123MATTYABC but i think the creatprs had the idea to make one... if youve seen the end(i havnt) theres aparantly some cloning tanks with 1 empty 1 with the protagonist iof invisible war and some others. the others could easily be there as stars of a movie.

  • I say that this is a very good effort, combining both CG and real-time relativley well. Nice Job!!

  • nice

but jc usually dies a painful death when jumping from such height lol

  • yaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

  • omg, but good effort :)

  • why were you using mgs scenes??

  • Because I needed good CGI sequences

  • It was good, but the part that JC jumps from the helicopter was...bad...

  • Really excellent work, given your budget of nil.

  • You wrote, directed and completed a full trailer, which is more than what 99.9% of all people have done. Keep working, learning, and refining and the next ones will be even better. :-)

  • that would be an...interesting movie

  • Uhmm.. I didn't like this, good work though :P

  • This is good. But if it were a real trailer, I would be dying laughing in the theater. Please don't take that personal, you did a great job for real, no joke.

  • lol it's more like neo than JC Denton.

  • huh... some bad mistakes...

    1. for a jump out of a helicopter it takes speed enhancement level 4... not reachable at the beginning

    2. JC drops off a boat in the first mission

    3. never saw JC with two pistols

  • pornoralle31, dont be such a nerd !!!

  • Why is in Japanese?

  • Because his friend is Japanese of course.

  • Yeah, but do you wanna expose that at the start? It's like giving a lot away right off the bat. I'd rather keep it hidden for a while.

  • The group Silhouette bombs the statue not the NSF

  • lol, very funny, good idea.

the statue was destroyed during the great collapse.

it was a joke, amateur video (look at the blue halo around JC when he walks by the river), abeit very well thought out.

  • good movie but wasn't the statue of liberty bombed and it's head fell off XD but good movie btw.

  • It was ok. But I couldnt help but laugh a bit when I heard Jocks Japanese accent before you jumped out of the copter and said "see you later jock".

But all in the name of movie making, you gotta use what you got.

  • Doing a Deus Ex movie sounds weird, since the very best thing on the game is the freedom of how you play the, which obviously is not possible in a movie.

  • I tried to be as stealthy as possible in this game.

  • LOOOL this movie is for Deus Ex but it have cutscene of Metal Gear Solid XD

JC Danton arrive on Liberty Island like Blade! LOL

Him have the Infolink.. or the CODEC? XD

  • Leaving the head on the statue kinda defeats DX's core theme, you know.

  • The head was the core theme? I thought the conspiracy was the core theme.. I couldn't get a shot with the head off.

  • ....that's pretty fair actually.

  • The core theme was liberty, and ways in which it is limited. Think symbolism.

    Nice vid though.

  • #1) JC doesn't have a ponytail.

#2) He came in to the NSF Liberty Island situation on a boat.

#3) He didn't know Jock until he got to Hell's Kitchen.

#4) How come I never got to dual wield?!

    #5) He doesn't have a watch either.

  • #1 I had to work with what I had

#2 True, but boat is kinda lame

#3 Again true, but refer to my #2

#4 Just because the game didn't have the option, doesn't mean you can change stuff when making a film

    #5 Same as #4

  • i like the beginning, although i dont think you should have cut the intro song, the best part was coming =)

the end though... LOL, you cant do that jump even with augmented legs XD

  • Movies don't need intros

  • I liked your colour correcting effects. I think the voice overs could have been a little more dramatic but meh. Not sure when you uploaded this but I would've used the clip from Cloverfield of the stature being beheaded.

  • to tell you the truth i don't know if they should make a deus ex movie. it just seems like it would make people not want to play the game.

  • The problem with this video (albeit cool that someone tried)... is that the game itself was MOST INTERESTING... because of JC's CONVERSATIONS amongst everyone. JC was always trying to do the right thing, listening to everyone wherever possible.

Sure, he could kill everyone... but you know what? From the start of the game when Paul said "zero body count"--I decided: fine--you want it, you got it, and I pretty much went through the entire game only killing a chosen few... and tranq'ed the rest!

  • i like the effort, but JC looks more like neo!

the jump is a nice idea. but does that mean JC's legs are already augmented?

  • very good! but jc's kinda slim

  • GOOD !

  • Interesting use of MGS stuff. In a way MGS is kind of a Japanese analogue to Deus Ex, so it's appropriate.

  • You don't meet Jock till Hell's Kitchen.

    lol.

how are you talking to him before.

    and jumping from the helecopter.

    a little over the top.

if that ever did happen in the game or a movie.

i'd stop playing the series right there.

    cause that's just bullshit.

your character is not some badass.

and they're clear about that in the series.

  • That's just a point of view. When you make a movie from a video game, some things MUST be changed to add the special factor. Look at Equilibrium, people love a bad ass hero, and Deus Ex doesn't have an overly complicated plot.

  • For a fanbased video it's really pretty good. I wanna slate it, but I really can as it has clearly been made with respect for the original game's unique style, and it's only supposed to be a bit of fun. I like the spliced-in MGSs clips too. Shame the guy playing JC doesn't look a little more badarse. Greenscreen bits could do with a bit more work. Good fun though.

  • Thanks, we were under time constraint, and back then I had no idea how to find actors so the guy who plays JC is a fellow filmmaker.

  • see ya later, jock

  • he's got IFF, augmentation, health and weapon status, and everything else implanted in his eyes... but he has to use an indiglo wristwatch

  • Well remember at the start of the game, he doesn't have any upgrades, so for now he's stuck with a watch :D

  • Go in and go in and go in and go in like Steven Spielberg and his three daughters.

  • haha yeah

  • Starring James Robinson

  • - DEUS EX 3 COMMUNITY MESSAGE -

Hi everyone. As you probably know DX3 is in development. The community too is growing and we would really like it to continue.

You can join the official forum and our Facebook group. The latter is composed of already 220 members including The Montréal's team, Warren Spector and Harvey Smith. It is regularly updated. For instance, today you can read about a fan's visit to the studio.

Thank you for your attention and long the DX community lives!!!

  • Relax, it's a movie, doesn't have to be REAL.

  • what is this the matrix? he would splatter on the ground jumping out of a helicopter at that altitude

  • I'm pretty sure his biomods could handle it.

  • yay biomods!

  • Exactly, even in the game, once you have the speed upgrade, you barely take damage while jumping from high above. Same in Deus Ex 2.

  • you've got to add the blue glow behind the glasses and the other nanotech stuff.

  • There might be more in the future yes. I've got many projects on the go at the moment.

  • uguuuhhhhh

  • Ok.. xD I geuss i like JC Denton more

  • Liked it! Any more?

  • Very good!

  • Thanks! Yes it was from Metal Gear Solid, just loved the weird numbers appearing quickly. And also the ninja fight.

  • was tht some footage from Metal Gear Solid there..?lol..nice vid though :)
