  • God damn i loved this song when Triple J was giving it airtime circa 1996... Gorgeous stuff.

  • Someone else says its a Harmony guitar, by the cutaway it looks more like a ES175 delux as the its sharp rather than rounded off, only going by photos on Harmony guitar site of their hollowbody guitars. I forgot to put the d because Gibson 175's have only one humbucker and the delux has two. The controls look like they have been changed.

  • How does this kind of thing not kick ass overseas? It's so much better than what's in the international charts now - let alone what was playing back in the day.

  • Reminds me of Daddy.

  • come back headless chickens!!!!!!! the best song EVER!!!!!

  • come back headless chickens!!!!!!!

  • come back headless chickens and rock some more,no one seems to do excellent music like this song anymore

  • Didn't this go to No.1 on the Kiwi charts? Anyways, love it. x

  • I adored this song.... Hadn't heard it in years!! Triple J gave it a little bit of airplay in late 1996 and as an angsty teenager i loved it :)

  • Negatively tainted... tuneless... and by the way, do the lyrics mention a rope? 'Don't think Johny would agree!

  • An absolute masterpiece....dark and haunting.

  • All about my abusive ex

  • OMG I finally found my fav song ever! LOVE KIWI MUSIC!

  • Is the guitarist using a Gibson Les Paul (for anyone who knows)?

  • It is a Harmony...

  • @martialartslangatang Its a Gibson ES175.

  • This song was wafting through the trees as we walked out of the Auckland Big Day out in January and it sounded even more dark and creepy.

  • You can hurt me !

  • Man up untill i saw Headless Chickens on the LINEUP for BIG DAY OUT 09, I had completely forgotten about this band aye... i hope Fiona can still rock out the good ol songs aye.

  • I hate that they're not playing in Australia. I love Headless Chickens and most of the other bands are shit.

  • We are playing this Thursday Dec 4 in Melbourne at the Hi Fi Club, this Friday in Sydney at Gaelic Club and Saturday at Homebake...

  • Yeah but I live in Perth. If I lived in Sydney, I might have thought about going to Homebake this year just to see you guys.

  • Aww cool, we played a blinder gig in Perth once...everyone was friendly too..

  • Hey man. Any chance you have the sheet music for this song? I study a Bachelor of Contemporary Music and want my group to do this song for New Zealand Music Month.

  • Hi Vance, I asked Fiona but she doesn't have any sheet music for it either...sorry...

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!

  • I forgot how many great songs Fiona McDonald was involved in. I'm clicking left right and center doing some reminiscing.

  • great song

  • I really loved this song and thrashed it during the school holidays. I can't remeber the song that was on the B side, but I know I liked it too.

  • i liked this song when they used it in shorty st... suited well when scarlett had her psycho moments!!!

  • sing with me

  • the clean, the verlaines, the headless chickens, the bats & push push were indicative of the kool shit kiwis were getting up to in the early 90's.

& for those of you up the back; 9/11 was an inside job.

  • Love this song. And how does she get her lips to pucker like that when she's singing?

  • Fiona McDonald - best 'singer' (actually she was a judge) in NZ idol 2004!!! The Chickens were at their peak when Fiona was part of the lineup...

  • One of the best NZ songs ever - Fiona broke my heart when she stopped singing! Video is a bit naff but what a great song

  • CHOICE AS!!!

  • AWSOME CLASSIC of a KIWI song!!!!twas on shorty street aswell

  • Yeeeaaah Xyaye! It was sooo fitting on shorty street. Fantastic song!! The best. We need another good rock song like this again. We seem to have lost Fur Patrol to the ditch, and now what in the world has happened to Tadpole - sad

  • i love this song

  • I could listen to this on repeat for ages.... takes me back a few years...

  • It is SO nice to finally get my Fiona fix! Thanks to ANYONE/EVERYONE who uploads music vids with Fiona. I must say I do prefer her solo version of this song better...it has much more emotion in it. Cheers!

  • I always felt this video could have been better and the song marketed better, should have been a world No1

  • yes yes yes i totally agree. I think they should bring it out again - why not, heaps of other bands do that to their songs!!! This time they should market it properly

  • There is a pretty good chance that the band will reform for a few gigs at the end of this year and early next year. Homebake in Sydney, BDO and the BFM 40th anniversary gigi in May 2009. Stay tuned...

  • absolutely...but why call the song "George"?

it's an obscure reference to the birthday cake in the song.

"Let's make a deal" would have been better

  • Well, if you think of the obvious answer... the song is about someone called 'George'

  • We called it George because our studio/practice room at the time was in the old George Courts building in K Rd, Auckland. On windy nights we heard, or felt a ghost whom we called George. Interestingly, Thane Kirby named George FM in Auckland after this song...

  • That's really interesting I've always wondered... And most people question why it was called George thanks for the info <3

  • creepy & sinister video. Way cool. Great vocals!!!

  • good music
