This is the reason why I was so confused when I started reading X-Men comics. I was trying to figure out, if he's Canadian, why did he have that Aussie accent in the Spider-Man cartoon??
@Stealthsucks He was actually a young person like everyone else when he first appeared in the 70's up into the early 80's when this episode came out. They didn't start making him older and crankier until they drew him unmasked around Uncanny X-Men #200...
@samurphy Nope , he`s from Edmonton , Alberta , British Columbia , Canada . John Byrne chose Edmonton as Logan`s birthplace becuse Byrne himself was raised there . However even before this revelation , Logan was already long since established as a proud Canadian ( though not so much of the Canadian government for obvious reasons ) . He was briefly portrayed as American but due to backlash from Canadian fans of The Character , he was quickly retconned back to Canadian .
@1993MovieMan You missed the joke I was making. Alberta and British Columbia are two separate provinces. Sorry, I guess it wasn't as funny as I thought.
Edmonton is in Alberta, which is in Western Canada, but British Columbia is a separate province on the west coast.
@TheZombieJC It was just the writers own stupidity. Some people think Wolverine didn't yet have an origin, or that he was suppose to be Aussie back then.. But that fails.. In his very first appearance when he attacked the Hulk they were in Canada. And while nothing outwardly states he was Canadian; The issue states he was working for the Canadian government (Which is later retconned as Alpha Flight; A superhero branch of the Canadian government).
@willowrhayne Yes. Wolvering was introduced in 1974 when he went up against the Hulk; Alpha Flight was created five years later in 1979. So actually Wolverine is the very first member of Alpha Flight to appear thanks to the wonderful thing called "retroactive continuity" but by the time the the actual team was created he was already an X-Man. He wore the same outfit when he was a part of Alpha Flight except with a mask that more resembled a catmask. The cowl was because the artist was a dumbass.
@willowrhayne And sadly; There's no way of clearing it up though many companies have tried. It seems the older characters origins get, the more muddled the continuity gets. Captain America is the lone example; He will never get old... The only thing that has changed is how many years he was frozen before thawing out. Originally it was about 20 years, then in the 80's-90's it was changed to 50 years... Today they just say "frozen for decades".
Clearly this version of Wolverine (from the 1978-1989 aniamed Marvel Universe) is Austrailian. That's why he used a claw as a shish kabob stick. This particular version of Wolverine also appeared in "Pryde of the X-Men" pilot that was never picked up and ended this Marvel Universe.
I don't know about "Pryde", on but here he sounds like he's voiced by Michael Bell.
@marnerbroman Wolvie was advertised as the "first Canadian superhero" from his first appearance in the Incredible Hulk. The lazy fucking creators of this show had no excuse.
Lol Who would eat a piece of fruit after its stuck with knives that were sitting inside of a guy's forearms. NASTY. That being said this animation is some of the most gorgeously drawn depictions of marvel heroes EVER
oh americans are never wrong when it comes to deciphering english accents. Americans (in general) think all other english speaking countries sound the same (except theirs)

Aaaah, another one of those LOL moments - LOL! Have to agree with yanoosz too, he managed to grab an entire pesky fruit sallad on that blade somehow...
I'm Canadian and I can tell you that is NOT a French-Canadian accent. Wolverine's few animated appearances in this era were highly criticized because they gave him an Australian accent, which makes no sense for the character.
