There was something about the bounce in that bassline Break, and we would rip the rink skating to it. The Memories will live forever. I promise! :(

  • I was the 1001 like! WOOOO!! My mums best friends with Jenny the singer :)

  • Reminds me of school days & parties in JHB!!

A disco cover of Babe Ruth's "The Mexican" appeared in the late 1970s, performed by the Bombers. This version inspired an electro/freestyle cover produced by Jellybean Benitez in 1984, for which he managed to recruit Haan on vocals - the cover subsequently becoming noted for its popularity as an underground dance hit.

  • Reminds me of school days & parties in JHB!!

  • finally i found you baby!!!!

  • Exw faei ton kosmo na to vrw!!! Like, like kai pali like!!! ;-)

  • memories! I had this on 8 track! Great song!!!!

  • i have one question..this song is'nt hip hop..why do you "use" it for stuff like that??this song is from 70s where hip hop didn't exist..

  • @GiannisKJ19 Hip Hop did exist in the 70's this was a B-Boy(breakdancing song) an element of the culture, DJ's would use this song for the breaks and the rhythm.!!!

  • @GiannisKJ19 Hip-Hop existed since 1971 fool! Also, this is one of the very first breaks used by DJ Kool Herc, the godfather of Hip-Hop, at his parties. Hip-Hop was created by mixing various breakbeats for people to dance to, and this is a classic example of that. Better to know what you're talking about before coming on here & mugging yourself off with your own ignorance!

  • @GiannisKJ19 hiphop culture derived from it and influenced by it. Dont forget the roots.

  • I first heard this on Prodiy's Dirtchamber sessions; I was suprised to learn this band were English.

  • @1FineYoungCannibal There English? Really?

  • @monkeytutz2Yeah, They're from Hertfordshire. Google them and see.

    For A Few Dollars More!

  • John Benitez, better known as "Jellybean Benitez" (born November 7, 1957) is an American drummer, guitarist, songwriter, DJ, remixer and music producer of Puerto Rican descent. Benitez has produced and remixed for artists such as Madonna, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and the Pointer Sisters.[1]

  • The song was covered in 1984 by Jellybean Benitez with vocals by the original singer, Jenny Haan. "The Mexican" was mixed into the third track of The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One by Liam Howlett of The Prodigy in 1999.
