I agree with justcallmethelma, "beautiful voice" , great pickin. Unbelivable stuff for a 12 year old and love all your new stuff as well...Were listening, keep it up!!!
@busker12 In your other vids it looks like this pick has an extension and goes back farther on your thumb
so it has no possibility of rolling or coming off, is that correct ? You said it was modified , How? you do it yourself? I like thumbpicks but when playing live you always are worried about it rolling. Thanks for your help. You are superb.
It is just a normal Dunlop thumbpick. I modify it by cutting down the point so it isn't too long and making the loop smaller so it fits my thumb better. You can just dip them in boiling water to reshape them. Sometimes it wants to roll or come off, but I just fix it on the fly.
Hi Young lady, what a great rendition of John's song, I love the sycopation, could you break down the way you are playing in terms of the strings you are hitting?
Unbelievable! You are great! I love your voice, its so honest and natural. It is rare to hear someone sing honestly and not some manufactured junk that is so popular. People will copy you one day guaranteed. You have the potential to be remembered long after your gone. Keep the honesty in your voice and always sing from your heart.
i love that song. i love john prine. you are great. nice playing. nice sound to the guitar. i like your singing. maybe most important. the thing that almost everyone forgets. sound. great sound system. it goes a long way toward making the song even more enjoyable. so many good youtube songs are destroyed by bad sound.
Mighty fine job Macyn, may we ask you to tune your ear in to another version of this classic as performed by 'Ricketts and Snatch' also checkout their Mailtrain Boogie ... keep up the good work- R&S
Well said. This is John Prine music. You should check him out if you like this song. He's been around since the 60's and has everything from rock to bluegrass/folk.
You've got it girl. Great job, beautiful voice and great guitar playing. This is the first of your video's that I've seen, got to check out the rest of them. Keep it up!
First Class. Great vocals in a home recording, a little hammering, and some runs. Your technique is better and more reliable than mine. Not much more one could ask. Really like Prine and you are a compliment to his music. Keep it up and keep your own style. Hope to see more . . .
Great song. I love your guitar playing. Is there anyway you can show me the tab or sheet music you used for this. I've got the chords just can't figure out the specific pattern. Please help. Great job on the solo.
Great job! I don't like the style of the singing but you do it very, very well. That's not a personal judgement so please don't take it as such. Your playing is excellent. I can only imagine how well you will play when you're in your twenties.
Just curious. I'm a gear junkie. What kind of guitar is that? At first I though Guild but no. Q#2 is that a Cascade Fathead and a SP-B1? LOL Sorry.
My guitar is a Petros. It has Claro Walnut sides and back, and an Englemann Spruce top. It is a model FS (finger-style). Petros guitars are made in Wisconsin.
Macyn, your instrumental skills and vocal talent are are a long cool drink of pure joy.
A reguest from the peanut gallery? Do you know that Cat Stevens song that goes "It's not time to make a change, relax and take it easy"? Fit you like a glove I bet. TAGreek
I'm not sure whether to be simply in awe of your talent and hard work or whether to beat myself up about how bad I still am. I think I'll just stick with the former. Congratulations.
Really nice playing! Hey, Macyn I have a question for you: do you remember GinaMarie, the incredible irish fiddler in Milwaukee? She plays the green fiddle... I met her once after a performance, we got to talking and she mentioned that you also played at Divino Gelato, she said to give you a "hi!" if you at all remember her. Keep up the great work! -Callie

It is a real treat to see and hear a young lady that can really play finger style guitar. I especially liked "steam engine train". Are you tutored or are you self taught? I would really like to know. I am positive you have a great future in music.
I was self taught until I was invited to attend the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. I am now in my second year as a finger-style guitar student.
Little Macyn Taylor, I have to agree with all of the comments before me. I too really enjoyed your performance video. Great job and keep it up.....just lovely!
