@Noahri2 if hes tryin to stand up, hes most likely gonna slam you. so to keep them from posturing up, pull their head down, and reach for the back of their leg, if he manages to lift you, turn your hips over and get your leg over his head and keep hold of his arm, youll get the armbar.
I learned a slightly simpler way of doing this were u dont have to be as limber. Eventho its great to do the tighter moves to get more limber down the road
hey man, good videos. i just started trying to train myself, luckily i've got sparring buddies so we all try moves and have grappling matches, we watch most of your videos for moves, thanks for them.
Ok, I absolutely LOVE this technique, however, I seem to have trouble landing it, both gi and no-gi. It's like I can't quite keep their arm from just sliding out (Not so much if I'm actually applying the lock, but moreso when moving into the position) and I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong. It's like right as I go to throw my leg over, they just pull their arm out and it feels like I'm just left hanging.
Sorry for the vagueness, but I was hoping you might be able to help me.
@SlightlyDazed7 Yeah, Sorry about that... This original set of videos were shot without a cameraman, and the result was videos that weren't professional quality.
The newer videos are much closer and have the watermark removed.
Thanks for watching, and please check out the site for the newer videos.
i really like your vids!!!! could you put some videos of you doing some sparring with somebody almost as good as you? it's more realistic and yo can see what real works when there's more resistance.
The new videos don't have the watermark, neither do the videos in the store. If you hate it that bad then purchase them in downloadable format. Otherwise, stop complaining about free videos. I'm not really overly concerned about what YOU hate.
Guard->Rubber Guard->Leg over opponents arm with ankle and foot wrapped under opponents chin (and neck-)>choke with foot and pull opponents arm in an attempt to snap at shoulder. I believe its what was used to break Beechers arms in "Oz".
does this only work when your opponent has his weight back ( like in the video) . i have a lot of trouble executing this because he presses all his weight forward on me while in guard. we aren't striking so he isn't interested in posturing up at all. so with him practically laying on me, trying to pass guard, i cant get my leg up around his head.
any tips , or should i just abandon this submission when hes like that?
Flexibility and leg-dexterity can play a role in this situation, but more important is your hip movement. You HAVE to create the angle with your hips. If you can't get the omo-plata this way, try setting it up from rubber guard.
@dashburn777: we actually learned today that when they are down on you push there head away, brace with arm and pull leg over head. you can get a toe choke from here if you want, or you can continue to omoplata. if they move their arm a little when you slide over into omoplata position, you can get a reverse armbar or move into a triangle choke.
Not sure when/where you're referring to- but if you have a variation that is working for you, then stick with it! Thanks for your kind words, and please check out the site.
understandable. at 55 seconds ^, I would swim around behind and inside with my left arm, with the crease of my left elbow hooking the crease of my left leg, trapping his right arm. my right arm breaking posture with hands s gripped behind his neck-then swivel. if that makes sense. you seem to be doing ok though...i looked at your site. I've never seen anything like it. nice work.
Your videos have been really helpfull, especially the stricking ones. They really helped me figure out what i was doign wrong.
This vidoe helped me better understand this submission, it was really the only one I didn't understand. Your video really answered all my questions about it.
Excellent! We look forward to having you as a registered user on the site. The registration process is fast and free, and gives you a LOT of resources regarding MMA. We'll see you there.
This is good cause it also works for the rubber guard. You can go to the Jiu Claw then to the omoplata

Good day,
I'm learning a little bit of MMA, can someone tell me some techniques which I can use when someone's standing up when I'm triangling him.

How come when I try to do this it ends up locking before I can get all the way in? It locks like an armbar.

I don't care about the video quality man, the combination of video and excellent verbal instruction is definitely enough, great teaching.

I like your vids a lot, but the far away camera makes it hard to see WTF you're doing. At least have someone crop it. Thx.

Sounds like go-go plata.

The gogoplata or kagato-gatame is a choke sumbimission though... isn't it?

i sujust that when you have your oppent in guard you go into rubber guard then its much easier to do

also, if he's too strong and you cant get him down, you can always shift into a bolt lock when he has his arm back like that.
