  • Thanks for this video, it helped me a lot, i kinda get it now as i have a exam tomorrow :)

  • can u please make a video on research method in sociology

n btw very good video :)

  • They believe the main part is the myth of metirocracy!! In other words the best people do not actualy get rewarded. This has been discussed in the UK lately. Class divide means the education system doesn't reward hard work.

  • This is a very good summary of early development that takes place in all our lives at school. And the music was a good fit too.

  • Awesome video... My lecturer actually posted this video link in a sociology lecture she gave :D

  • Hey, I've made an education video like this -

    It has two halves.

    Check it out :)

    /watch?v=78bY5u5VTzg

  • CHECK OUT MINE GUYSSSSSSSSS

  • weve been taught the education system is more suited for girls as girls learn in class by sitting easier than boys and boys learn better doing a activity and this is why boys do better in pe they dont do as well as girls in exams as girls are better at sitting and writting than get up and go activitys and most exams are wrighting therefore suits girls better and they achive more.

  • This video is advocating what is called structural-functionalism. It is a theory which has largely been abandoned by sociologists due to its neglect in discerning why society functions the way it does. Furthermore, structural-functionalism reinforces the system of oppression that exists against minorities and women.

  • Thanks that has been useful

oh and @NInjas0 Marxism like Feminism is a conflict approach and they hold the negative views as seeing education as another force of control whereas Functionalists are part of a consensus perspective and they believe education is based on meritcracy which is putting the more qualified people into the high ability jobs

  • kinda true, but looked from "good student" viewpoint. check this out watch?v=tXHzmRftwUw

  • thanks KURIA, i used part of it for my presentation at dmu. cheers x

  • hmmmm I think education should have more elements focused towards individual predilictions of temperment and ability. Also if pupils are to be taught about other cultures and such they should also be able to ask questions about the functionalism of same.. man I hated religious education

  • Thanks, it was useful :)

  • Marxism teaches of the hidden curriculm and their theory matches fact, whilst functionalists theories are out dated and do not fit in with modern society.

  • Marxists also dont like the functionalist prospective as they believe education makes children accept their positions as "loosers"

  • Are you sure? That's the Marxist perspective?

  • yeah they dont like it because they believe it reproduces class divide so they are against it

  • Ohh ok, I understand.

  • wait wait wait!! Forget my first comment. How did you give the Marxist perspective a thumbs down?? IT IS A PERSPECTIVE IN IT'S OWN!! It is completely true that there are class divisions in society.

  • the thumbs down meant that they dont like education not that i dont like marxists

  • nice 1
