When someone erroneously refers to an instrumental composition as a song, they are espousing an ignorance of the definition of everyday words -- clearly my peeve is a much more pressing matter.

And, I'm just curious, how would you have constructed my sentence to avoid the woeful split infinitive.

@TrevRockOne I think you probably know this, but I really don't give a damn about your split infinitive; I was being sarcastic. The meanings of words change with society. Yes, the original, strict, literal definition of "song" is something that is "sung" (which is why one is derived straight from the other). But in society the word "song" has come to mean "a musical composition of pretty much any sort," and it's far from the biggest of problems with the English language today.

Metallica died when Cliff Burton died, they are just another mainstream cookie cutter band that has given up creativity for money. Talent and song writing are all that matter. Metallica was good. key word is was there. but the reason true metal musicians hate them is because they are a punk band. listen to Lars play and tell me how creative he is truly...hmmm...it wouldn't take much to show Lars up on set. I'm a guitarist and i sound better on a drumset than Lars does.

My opinions is actually the exact opposite, I think that the first time when that lovely melody comes on is the best; 1:28 that is.

And after 3:20 the song gets pretty monotonous, but that is just my humble opinion :)
