Well, I'm Paul from Thailand. I have been a big fan of heavy metal bands for many years. Dream Theater is one my favorite bands and Portnoy is my drummer idol.

I think we should'nt compare him to the other drummers because they each have their own styles. According to DT audition for new drummer, I favor Thomas Lang because his rythm is very powerful and tight. But Prister was too nervous and did'nt break the ice with them. Anyway I think he is of the best drummers on this planet

@paultvshow To be honest, I don't think Thomas Lang would have been a good fit for Dream Theater. He is EXTREMELY gifted, but I feel as if Portnoy is the only one who had that incredible chemistry with the band. I think Mangini is a great drummer. All the drummers that tried out for Dream Theater are amazing. However, Portnoy's style is called for, IMHO, in Dream Theater.

Seriously NO ONE should mention Mike Portnoy. He's a great drummer but he's yesterdays news. Aquiles Priester is one of the best if not THE BEST. He is more technical than most drummers I know, non repetitive beats and rhythms. And when it comes to speed, he's got that under his belt as well. Most drummers can't compete with Aquiles Priester
