@thatsmyaibo Oh sorry, I meant the actual Kindle reader. I think you said somewhere in your video that they made it of plastic to reduce the price, but I'm wondering if it's solid enough, 'cause I'm about to purchase a kindle 3 and I don't want to get a protective case (which is added weight).
@DTKsh2r No, it's the 3rd. The first one looked completely different, the Kindle 2 had more space between the screen and edge and also had an aluminum backing.
@ccederlo I have one. I typically don't do video reviews of gadgets (as you will see if you check out my page). I had a lot of people asking if it was worth investing in the lighted case when it came out so I decided to give people the opportunity to see it in action before dropping $60.
Thinking of buying my sister this kindle for xmas, and i need to decide whether or not to get her this case. she reads a lot at night before bed so would the light be bright enough for her to see?
@MrJam1858 Absolutely. Have been using it religiously on a nightly basis with this case and light. It has been great. What I love is how the light can be stowed away rather than being a separate attachment that must be lugged around everywhere.
@santonegra I actually like that it isn't too bright. The only time I read in the dark is when I'm going to sleep. A brighter light would make it tougher to get drowsy. To each their own though =)
Say, how about Kindle vs iPhone 4? I mean... iPhone has retina display... A bit skippy on whether it's worth the money or not, since eyestrain isn't much of a problem for me. Usually on the comp for over half the day for the last few years...
@HIbleda I use my iPhone 4 to read when I'm out of the house without a Kindle. The screen is extremely small and can be annoying to read on. It makes reading on the Kindle that much better.
@lirongna I personally use mine every night and it makes it worth the money to me. I love having the light stowable so I can use it when I need to and pop it back in when I don't. If I had to do it again knowing what I know, I would buy it again.
Just ordered my first Kindle now they've launched in the UK. I did have a Sony PRS505 before but sold it due to the appalling availability & pricing of ebooks for it in the UK (that and the friendly-as-a-cornered-rat Adobe Digital Editions you had to use for DRM purposes).
The light on the case is quite nice but the serious drop off in lighting towards the bottom left of the screen looks to be a deal breaker. A more centralised, uniform means of illuminating the screen is in order.
@brenster1000 I've been using the Kindle with this case for about 3 weeks on a nightly basis and I have to say it really isn't all that bad. I would buy the case again today if I had to.
@thatsmyaibo Thanks for the thoughts. There's a three week wait time on Kindle orders here in the UK, so I've plenty of time to consider my options (basic vs lighted cover). Just a choice between black, chocolate brown or the orange otherwise :)
@rottentofu It's not too bad actually. I was reading in the dark last night before bed and it's noticeable only because the top of the page is really illuminated and the bottom isn't due to the location of the light. You can still read easily and I still recommend this product.

How solid is the plastic case?
Epifrin 11 months ago
@Epifrin It is actually leather and pretty solid.

@Epifrin My mistake. I was referring to the Kindle itself. The Kindle 2 had an aluminum casing on the back and the new one is all plastic.

how heavy is it?
waleshero1995 1 year ago
@waleshero1995 It adds a little bit of weight but not much to deter the user from carrying it around.

@ccederlo Thank you. I actually have a tripod but just wanted to knock this out. I don't do many video reviews =)

That light isn't so bright for the cost of the case. I found a tiny booklight on amazon for cheap and it's twice as bright as this one.
