@pamorj not as fanrastic as a friend of mine who does not even have a secondary school certificate who goes to china for a 4 month holiday comes back home speaking fluent mandarin just like a chinese person....so i dont believe it and i thought the guy was just bullshitting me....then i go get a chinese guy to test his skills and he is amazed beyond belief confirming his totally mastery of mandarin...thats without even going to a school....just picked it up as he went along
Xiao Jie is what I used to call them until my Beijinger wife recently told me 'Xiao Mei' (Little Sister) was more appropriate now. This is a well-done video. I do wish the beer was stronger but that is a very very minor point. I love Beijing and places like this one.
@real998877 weird pinyin... you will have an uphill struggle change the world with your new romanization convention, nobody will pass a HSK test with that me thinks. o.O
You can speak Mandarin well. Good. The hotpot and the pita bread seems very delicious. You can eat the blackmushroom with bokchoy (Shanghai bokchoy) in any Chinese restaruant, but the hotpot and the fish must be a local dish. Yummy.
the 2 r verymuch alike, but different vegetables.i'mbejinger, plz search油菜and小白菜u would find the difference 油菜更光滑细致,小白菜的叶子上面有凸起,油菜的没有,小白菜的叶根部是稍直些的,油菜的勺形很明显。小白菜色浅些,油菜色深些;小白菜柄更绿些,油菜发白。
Yes Danny So, I like your video. You show the food close to the camera, and you eat it with lots of enjoyment everything. You make people feel hungry. You should make more video. But this Andrew guy is very good in explaining things, the history about things. Not bad.
good video, this restaurant is famous in beijing. you can try fish head dunk dishes and toast duck(not sure the translation) in this restaurant next time.
Hello You made the vedio clips or Bejian Norman university whose play intruments, You have very excellent vedio footage , you mandain is well.thank you.
wow i like your mandarin, i hope my mandarin will improve to be like yours. The dishes looks pretty good, i like the diced pork wrap dish, looks yummy.
well, technically xiaojie means "miss," and I'm used to using it for waitresses, but you're right, these days it does have that alternative implication, and I really should switch to fuwuyuan "service person"
it makes me missing beijing so much! i feel frustrated watching the video and not being able to eat the dishes right now :( oh well, i'll be back in beijing with my family in 1.5 month. rang4 wo3 yi2 ci4 chi1 ge4 gou4!
这个餐馆的鱼头泡饼最有名的,呵呵,估计andrew不知道。

No. Xiajie means Miss. Not hooker. You misunderstood their language.

isn't it "fuwuran" in the north? not "xiaojie"?
i think in the north, "xiaojie" could be seen as derogatory while in places like Hong Kong, "xiaojie" is used more as a compliment

吃起来小白菜有很重的青菜味,油菜没有;小白菜有咸涩的味着,油菜的要轻得多。
