Yeah, that's normal; the base stat for both is 10.

To put that into perspective, Caterpie has higher base attack and defense than Blissey.

Unfortunately I think you're missing one thing the announcer says.

The announcer says "A devastating attack is launched with the Helping Hand of another Pokemon!" (I'm not certain it's 'devastating' but it's something along those lines.)

The attack caused doesn't have to KO, and the announcer doesn't always say it.

He's more likely to say it if you get a healthy Pokemon down to red as I've seen.

As odd as it is to watch a Blissey use Seismic Toss on Wailord, it can also be done by a Torchic or a Pichu with the use of Move Tutor. I would enjoy seeing that...

I decided to re-play pokemon gold from the beggining to bring back good old memories.

The problem is that I can't find a pokedex site for PKMN Gold, like there is one for diamond/pearl and platinum (marriland, cerebii, etc.) I really need that kind of website to check what moves my pokemon will learn and where I can find them, so if you happen to know a website like that, please let me know.

Second thing is, I know swift is a special move in D/P/P, but it is a special or physical move in Gold?

Yeah, there's a reason for that. I got too much spam from people I don't even know. So I made it so that only friends can only send me messages. Even then, I still get people that send friend requests, only to send spam or whatever minutes later. It's sad.

To answer your question, the best site for info on GSC stuff is PokemonDungeon [dot] com; I'm surprised it still exists. I used that site for info back in the Gen II days. Also all Normal moves in Gen I and II ae physical moves.

Yeah, Gust is a physical moves in Gen I and II, as are all Flying-type moves. Most of the elemental types (Grass, Fire, Water, Psychic, etc.) are the ones that are entirely special.

And I think that whether an attack is physical or special depends on its type. I'm not completely sure though. If it is, I would go by this list: Physical types are: Normal, Steel, Poison, Ground, Flying, Bug, Rock, Ghost, and Fighting. Special types are: Fire, Dark, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Phsycic, and Dragon.

Yeah, that's the correct list of Physical/Special types in the first two generations.

I'm glad that types were not completely assigned to Physical or Special, and that they are now moves of each type belonging to the two category.

Despite its multiple KO's in each Volume, I actually like Shedinja. But due to the fact that it has 1 HP and its Wonder Guard ability won't save it from various status moves, it was easier to use it to display several different move reactions.

Heh, yeah, I specifically reserved Surf for Pikachu, since it has a unique animation for Surf.

Raichu using Surf is just as awesome; it uses its tail as a surfboard instead.

I'm not sure if Pichu has a special animation for Surf, as that's an illegal move for it in DPPt.

However, a special Pichu with Surf could be obtained in Pokémon Box in Gen. III, and I'm sure it had an animation for the move in Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD.

That's not a bad idea. I might record and upload them if there's enough interest.

Hmm, looks like someone already beat me to it. Just search for "Surf Pichu", and you'll see a video of someone using one, but in Pokémon XD. The animation, or lack thereof, for Pichu's Surf is most likely the same as in XD.

It ran out of PP for Hydro Pump, and it has a Choice Scarf, so it began to use Struggle (all according to plan... heh).
