@gatsbyfaulkner You do understand that W.L Craig is defending a collection of texts (Bible) of which there is no original copies for any of them, and also which is consistently being revised by scholars due to new findings of inaccuracies, errors, mistranslations, and sometimes down-right additions. The only way to have a truly philosophical, logical, argument for the Bible is if you had the original text in its original language, which you don't, so it's all "lost in translation" and hear-say.

Are you aware of what you are saying and what you are implying? Because only God is good." By leaving the heavenly realm and entering the lowly earthly realm, He voluntarily lowered Himself from His glorified heavenly state to a lowly limited state to complete His pre-ordained mission to redeem mankind. Well what you've pointed out is a contradiction in the bible. In (Matthew 19:17) Jesus replies "Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God... Here we can agree that Jesus is saying that there is only 1 who is good, and that is God not himself. So he doesn't even like being called good.. Yet you just pointed out in (John 10:11) Jesus calls himself the Good shepherd... so this is a contradiction in your own book, maybe you should ask a pastor to clarify it for you. lol

@DiLxThief You simply cannot grasp the concept of Jesus being fully man and fully divine. As a man He did the things that are proper between humans and God such as praying. Jesus as a man had to deal with the temptations and trickery of the devil in the same way Adam was tempted in the Garden of Eden. The difference is that Adam as a created man failed the test, while Jesus' divinity enabled Him to oppose all the devices of Satan, even after 40 days of fasting. He withstood all temptation.
No1 is able to grasp how Jesus is fully man and fully God at the same time. This in itself is irrational and illogical, makes no sense at all. Lets define God. God is All Knowing He cannot be taught anything nor can anything be hidden from Him. This means God knows everything - Bible says "whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and HE KNOWS EVERYTHING" (1 John 3:20) But Jesus admits he does not know when the final hour will occur (MARK 13:32). So this concludes that Jesus cannot be FULLY God, because he is not All Knowing.

William Craig doesn't fail in explaining the notion of Gods love. Gods love is not esoteric, it's not only attainable by an exclusive few. Hence God loves us all equally as his children. If you had two children, and one had a disposition to be more troublesome than the other. Would you deprive that one of love ? No you would love the child the same regardless, though you would try and render there ways. Gods unconditional love. God doesn't reject you for sinning otherwise nobody could be loved.

@wachnathan Mormonism isn't Christianity, it isn't a branch either, hence the name which makes them distinctly different and you can differentiate between the two religions. It's not a real mess, the reason Christianity has so many different sects, is because we are unwilling to just blindly adhere to the notions of others. Plus God speaks to us all individually so there inevitably won't be one universal sect which is applicable to all. Islam also has different sects.

Christianity has different denominations so it can be applicable to all and not esoteric. Most Christians do follow there Bible correctly, obviosuly some you may say deviate from the true message but that is debatable. The Bible in some instances leaves room for interpretation, where as in other parts it is explicitly clear what it is saying and the message it is trying to convey.
@wachnathan Also in response to one of your earlier posts, Dr. Craig does have plausible sources that all cohere with what he said about the historical evidence.
I have heard many valid cases for the historical evidence for the resurrection, Christ being alive, the tomb etc.. It goes on, it's probable that these events took place, wether you deduce that it was God that resurrected him or not is another issue. But the events were likely to have taken place.

The "human error" was an excuse to print modern editions taken from newer manuscripts that removed much of the divine contexts of the original. Obviously evil intentions. But I still say that the trend of Islam is one that demonstrates the evil destruction around the world. Christianity is about self sacrifice for people.

@gatsbyfaulkner You do understand that W.L Craig is defending a collection of texts (Bible) of which there is no original copies for any of them, and also which is consistently being revised by scholars due to new findings of inaccuracies, errors, mistranslations, and sometimes down-right additions. The only way to have a truly philosophical, logical, argument for the Bible is if you had the original text in its original language, which you don't, so it's all "lost in translation" and hear-say.

Are you aware of what you are saying and what you are implying? Because only God is good." By leaving the heavenly realm and entering the lowly earthly realm, He voluntarily lowered Himself from His glorified heavenly state to a lowly limited state to complete His pre-ordained mission to redeem mankind. Well what you've pointed out is a contradiction in the bible. In (Matthew 19:17) Jesus replies "Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God... Here we can agree that Jesus is saying that there is only 1 who is good, and that is God not himself. So he doesn't even like being called good.. Yet you just pointed out in (John 10:11) Jesus calls himself the Good shepherd... so this is a contradiction in your own book, maybe you should ask a pastor to clarify it for you. lol

Man by his very nature is Imperfect, God in His nature is Perfect therefore u cannot be perfect and imperfect at the same time, it is a contradiction. @DiLxThief You simply cannot grasp the concept of Jesus being fully man and fully divine. As a man He did the things that are proper between humans and God such as praying. Jesus as a man had to deal with the temptations and trickery of the devil in the same way Adam was tempted in the Garden of Eden. The difference is that Adam as a created man failed the test, while Jesus' divinity enabled Him to oppose all the devices of Satan, even after 40 days of fasting. He withstood all temptation.

Lets define God. God is All Knowing He cannot be taught anything nor can anything be hidden from Him. This means God knows everything - Bible says "whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and HE KNOWS EVERYTHING" (1 John 3:20) But Jesus admits he does not know when the final hour will occur (MARK 13:32). So this concludes that Jesus cannot be FULLY God, because he is not All Knowing.

Jesus was hungry and saw a fig tree from afar, he got happy until he reached it... "Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. The bible tells us "Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since he judges even the highest?" (Job 21:22) The answer to this is, NO!!! You cannot teach God anything as He is All-Knowing. Now if you read the account of what Saul did to the Amalkites, its very clear that he spared Kenites and destroyed only Amalkites known for their child sacrifice and other abominations. But Saul killed all that is weak and kept to themselves the better for which Saul was punished. Now if you say God taught to make war, then Israel would have won all battles.

@Hamilton111111 But read the Old testament and you will find that majority of the time Israel was at the recieving end of God's judgement. Now let me ask you, what kind of righteous person are you if you dont hate raping child under the age of 8. Or what kind of loving and kind father are you if you don't move a finger to save your child from sexual abuse. God's judgement always fell on nations like that. Once the judgement was executed it was over. It was not an ongoing affair.

@Hamilton111111 God asked Israel to fight the Canaanites as a process of executing His judgement in the same way God used Babylon (nebuchadrezzer) to destroy Jerusalem. Even his temple was destroyed by the Babylonians. Heights of judgement and you know why? .... Because Jerusalem and Israel started to practice all the abomination that the nation before them did. So God of the Bible is a righteous God and its only a trait of His righteousness that his judgement will be heavy on the wicked.

He will be hanged to death just the way Saddam Hussain was put to death. But what if a whole nation is like Hitler, what would you do, let them go scott free? If so then where is justice? the first three verses of the Bible, Genesis chapter One, confirm the doctrine of the Trinity as the true nature of God as God presented Himself. If someone who doesn't believe in Jesus and start cursing Jesus. What do you think about that person, should your God love that person. If your God love that person that you should also love him. Another point is that accrding to your definition of God we are both equal to your God. So we don't need to worry whether we are Christians or nonchristians. We are all loved by him and no one is going to hell because Jesus has been crucified for all the sins of all humankinds.

William Craig doesn't fail in explaining the notion of Gods love. Gods love is not esoteric, it's not only attainable by an exclusive few. Hence God loves us all equally as his children. If you had two children, and one had a disposition to be more troublesome than the other. Would you deprive that one of love ? No you would love the child the same regardless, though you would try and render there ways. Gods unconditional love. God doesn't reject you for sinning otherwise nobody could be loved.

@wachnathan as far as the christian conception of God and the fact that Jesus is God, is backed up by history. There is no way around that. Christians have history, theology, and early church fathers to back up there claims. Muslims have one book written 600 years after Christ.

@wachnathan Mormonism isn't Christianity, it isn't a branch either, hence the name which makes them distinctly different and you can differentiate between the two religions. It's not a real mess, the reason Christianity has so many different sects, is because we are unwilling to just blindly adhere to the notions of others. Plus God speaks to us all individually so there inevitably won't be one universal sect which is applicable to all. Islam also has different sects.

@wachnathan Christianity has three main sects. Orthodox, Catholicism and Protestant. Refute me if i'm mistaken, but Islam also has two main sects, Sunni and Shi'a.
Christianity has different denominations so it can be applicable to all and not esoteric. Christianity needs to be applicable to all and universal, otherwise Gods message wouldn't be fulfilling its objective destiny. The whole world has heard of Christianity due to its sects, so why should denominations have negative connotations.

@wachnathan Yes, I agree it's not productive when they fight or compete, but if the sects can live together in harmony I don't see any problem. Most Christians do follow there Bible correctly, obviosuly some you may say deviate from the true message but that is debatable. The Bible in some instances leaves room for interpretation, where as in other parts it is explicitly clear what it is saying and the message it is trying to convey.

@wachnathan Also in response to one of your earlier posts, Dr. Craig does have plausible sources that all cohere with what he said about the historical evidence.
I have heard many valid cases for the historical evidence for the resurrection, Christ being alive, the tomb etc.. It goes on, it's probable that these events took place, wether you deduce that it was God that resurrected him or not is another issue. But the events were likely to have taken place.

It's hardly like people haven't falsified documents before in order to make someone they love and respect appear to have magical powers. This happens all the time, hell, every North Korean leader is sent down from Heaven in their history books, each time they get a new one they write a story about the magical arrival. There are plenty of OTHER resurrections recorded in other religions & i can't believe them all!

If we were to accept this as true, does it mean that God ignored every other culture on Terra Prime? (i.e. the Norse, the Indian, the Chinese, the Australian Aboriginals, & the Aztecs/Mayans/Incas)
Probably not the Vulcans, though. I imagine Jesus would have made a detour there.
