The history of how this track came about is pretty interesting
Dilla (SV's producer) sampled thomas bangater for "Raise it Up" without clearance
Daft Punk found out and instead of pressing charges they asked SV to make this remix for free because "Daft Punk WERE FANS OF DILLA" and what he did during the 90's
Two duos from different musical genres have a misunderstanding over the use of a sample. Rather than a legal battle, Daft Punk and Slum Village came up with this unique and amazing remix. Respect and props to both DP and SV for being real with each other and getting something like this out there.
@lownrgy No offense taken brah I got so much respect for both him and Daft Punk. Just dope to see a daft punk track that is fuckin bomb made into a sick hip hop beat.
This is not a disgrace, it was influenced by Daft Punk which automatically makes it cool. It's another good piece of music brought on by a great groups song. And besides, it's on the Daft Club album for a reason
I've never liked this, and I was never convinced that Dilla made this even though people used to say it. It makes sense that he wasn't involved as you can hear Elzhi on the end and Dilla had officially left at that point. I love Daft Punk and Dilla, and I'm not surprised that Kanye was allegedly responsible for this garbage. Sloppy beat with horrible sounds.
@ysk1d Yeah I remember the story from an interview Daft Punk did around the time - Dilla sampled "Extra Dry" and didn't get it cleared so they just asked for a remix to square things off because they liked SV. The problem is it was labelled "Slum Village Remix" and therefore people were assuming it was Dilla without checking the liner notes - but you can clearly hear that he wouldn't produce anything that sounds like this. K Riggins is a great drummer, but his beats were shitty at this point.
Anyone that hates on this is an idiot. And needs to learn about hip hop. The guy who produced the remix is one of the greatest hip hop producers ever!
Ya'll sleepin! This remix is HOTT TO DEF!! No! It does not sound like the original! That's why IT'S CALLED AN EFFIN REMIXX! GET IT??? Is there any intelligent life left out there??? LOL

This remix ruined my childhood, and my favourite Daft Punk song. This can barely even be called a remix, not because it's horrendoufuckous but, because it just samples the last part of the song, really, this shouldn't be even called aerodynamic nor be featured on Daft Club.
@Smoshfans112 I wouldn't call it a remix, just simply a song that sampled aerodynamic. I remember this song and I like it. I love Daft Punk though and this isnt a remix just a great sample.
One day, as J Dilla was record digging for random samples, he came accross a bootleg recording of Thomas Bangalter's Extra Dry. Dilla figured that he was an obscure producer that no one had heard of, so he flipped the sample and created Raise It Up. Thomas Bangalter was quite aware of Jay Dee's amazing body of work, and was a fan, so all that he asked was that Slum Village remix one of Daft Punk's songs. They gladly obliged, and added their own groove to Aerodynamic.
Techno is a broad statement when used by most people, so things can be techno and electro, or techno and house, you know, all toads are frogs, but not all frogs are toads kinda thing.
and assumed that the artist was an obscure techno producer, and was unlikely to find out. Bangalter and Guy-Manuel, however happened to be fans of Slum Village, and rather than demand a payment for the sample, instead asked to collaborate on one of their own tracks, which ended up becoming their remix of the song "Aerodynamic".
The song uses a sample from the song, "Extra Dry", by Thomas Bangalter (of Daft Punk). It was initially used without permission, as producer J Dilla obtained a copy of the song from a bootleg recording,
neither. Dilla created a beat from the same sample as this daft punk song, and they then agreed to put it on the Daft remix album. sort of a "two people invent the light bulb at the same time" scenario.
No, Daft Punk asked Slum to remix this song as repayment. Slum took one of Thomas Bangalter's songs and used it in one of his, but never credited Thomas for it.
When pedro winter (daft punk's ex manager) heard raise it up by SV (the joint sampled one of bangalter's tracks) he asked dilla to make a track for them.

@Stylus1997 This remix was done by Karriem Riggins, not Dilla.
But the thing is Dilla sampled from Daft Punk for Raise it up.
But he didn't know what it was and forgot where he got it from, cause he took it from a white lable.
Instead of sueing or whatsoever, Daft Punk asked 'em to do another track for their project.
