@AyeshaFatimahCooking We make rasam often to help with digestion, and particulary to help during cold season for BRAT diet. We don't add toor dal when cooking for BRAT diet. For a more aggressive digestion help, I recommend digestive enzymes from any store. We also regularly use 'Triphala' an ayurvedic pill made of 3 herbs availble online and in stores.
@AyeshaFatimahCooking Truly appreciate your support. Easy Vegetable kurma is posted on my blog. Biriyani will be posted shortly followed by videos. You can stay current with me on FaceBook, ID: RadhaRayasam :)
@AyeshaFatimahCooking Right down to my kids, we're all Hajmola fans. It's mild, but we do take digestive enzymes or Triphala which are more potent and helpful to the body.
@sunayverma I've grown up seeing all the ladies of my house swear by their cast iron cook ware. I use it personally, and for Indian cooking I feel it's ideal (high heat). One must have an idea as to how to cure it and how to maintain it. I personally feel that it's way better to use cast iron pots and pans than today's chemical coated non stick pans.
@jzaik There are so many different varieties of Rasams. This is just one version of it, cumin-pepper rasam with tomatoes in a watery toor dal mixture. This is made commonly in my home. This rasam has got nothing to do with any particular state in India.
Thank you for your generous comment! As a busy mom it is tough for me to follow recipes to the T. I always would love to know about substitutions w/o compromising the taste. With that in mind, I try to make tutorials that give wiggle room to all.
You know what, Rasam is also looking good! :P :D
