I'm happy that Obama's stimulus bill will upgrade the rails so that we will have more high speed railtrracks. However I come from Germany and I believe the best way is a separate track such as in France, Japan, Germany, the rest of Europe, China and soon in California.
I thought so 'cause my pastime there is watchin' the Amtrak and Acela trains fly by when I hang on the outbound platform. Check out my vids to find some Canton Junction clips.
i have been on an acela before. its a cool train and it goes really fast. it goes from NYC to DC in about 2 hours. a normal amtrak train takes about 3 1/2 hours.
The acela can reach speeds up to 150 MPH in 2 locations, the stretch is like 18 or 20 miles, but not all at once, first one is like 9 miles, then 9 after providence, one stretch is Mansfield Mass, and Kingston RI
Well heres one reason, did u search for it on a friday? Then returning like on a Tuesday? Price depends what day you want to travel, if its a Friday or sunday, expect it to be REALLY high
I'll have to look at the Amtrak Web Site to see the Roundtrip fare from BOS to WAS to see how much it is, and I'm sure going from BOS-WAS or vice versa round trip on First Class can cost around $500 or more
I wish VIA Rail could make their Québec City-Windsor Corridor (the Canadian version of Amtrak's Northeast Corridor), more high-speed like Amtrak. We need it badly here in Canada. The max speed on our communter line is only 100mph from Toronto to Montréal only. The fastest engines are the P42s. On that stretch of line, the F40PHs cannot even reach track speed! The HEP coaches don't even have tilting mechanisms!
Alex you are so lucky to be able to just go on Acelas and other trains whenever you wish like that. Here in Florida we barely have trains at all and the train station is 20 miles from my house plus it's a hassle to get out there. I need to move back up north. :)
Yes your right, I cant, the last time i rode the Acela was back in February! I paid 30 bucks for this trip home! And let me tell ya, it was not the day to do it, it left 25 mins late outta South Station, and got me home 35 mins late
You paid 30 bucks from Boston-Providence on an Acela? That's pretty good. You should see the prices we pay when we go up to CT and travel between Old Saybook and Bridgeport. It costs 39 bucks for one person to go from Bridgeport to Old Saybook on a regional. You got some pretty fair deals there.
Yeah, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the train runs only 3 times a week each way, New York-Chicago at 1 AM Westbound and 3 AM Eastbound. I can't wait to go to college on the east coast, though!
