Back when this came out I really thought that Don Davis would set a new standard for how to score a modern, grand action movie, with a lot of brass and above all an organic, living orchestra; I also thought it would mark the end of the "trend" with synthetic music á là Hans Zimmer. I was wrong. In the sequels, Don Davis himself started to mix in electronic elements in the actual score which kind of ruined it for me.
