I believe that the vast majority of "religious" people are fakes. To them, it's a mechanism for socializing. Very few people actually practice the foundational tenants of the religion they claim to revere. How many Christ-like examples walk among us? How many even try? I see people in their Sunday best, fresh from church being rude and disrespectful to wait staff at restaurants, talking about their neighbors or bragging about how they screwed someone over. You tell me.
You are right...lots of people who claim religion or faith mess up. They talk a big talk, but they don't walk it at all. It's a shame and disgrace.
Have you actually met people who do follow a religion (any religion) faithfully? I have, and they are wonderful. No matter who they worship, I have met some truly sincere people. I try to think of them as the models of their religion.
Now, if you think of religion in it's truest form...the way it was supposed to be, can you still say it's bad?
this brings up a lot of good points. anyone making choices in life has probably already accepted the consequences, whether it's a lifetime of teasing and tormenting for being who they are, or an eternal afterlife in a lake of fire. personally i don't like being reminded of this by people who judge *but* are part of belief systems that should ultimately leave judgment to higher powers.
this is one belief i happily subscribe to because the way i see it, it's one less thing i have to worry about!
