@MechaFright Initially he was fairly certain it was Switzerland, but lost confidence when he didn't hear the cough. So he read the other choices to see if Whittock would cough on a different answer. When he didn't hear a cough on any of them, he correctly deduced that Whittock didn't know, so he went back to his original answer.

$1,000, $32,000 and the million are three points of no return. Once you answer the $1,000 question correctly, you're guaranteed to leave the show with at least that much. If you answer any of the questions wrong between $1,000 and $32,000, you drop to $1,000 and leave with that. If you get a question wrong before you reach $1,000, you leave with nothing. If you miss a question wrong between $32,000 and the million, you leave at $32,000. If you have no lifelines, you can walk away on any question
