  • no god

  • the soundtrack was icing on the cake!

  • one of the most powerful movies ever!!!

  • I love Gavin's voice, Bono too...

  • Mezmorizing Muzik

  • i am ADDICTED to this song.

do you understand what ADDICTED means????

  • I am a human being

  • Tiocfaidh Ar La

  • One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard :)

  • I'm proud to be half Irish

  • I like the Celtic pipes entrance.

  • actor: Daniel Day Lewis, movie: In the Name of the Father, voice: Bono, band: U2, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits.

  • revolution in cantrelor!! in the name of cupcakes!!!! XD

  • Pete Postlethwaite was a truly special actor. In fact when I watched him I couldn't imagine him being anyone other than the character he was portraying and I've just spent 10 mins trying to think of another actor like that and I'm struggling. David Thewliss and Gary Oldman are close.

  • @CelticProgeny I loved him in The Town too. His role there wasn't too big but man this guy acted well. RIP! Truly one of the greatest.

  • You're never going to stop war so long as people value things besides television, food, and whatever shinny new toy the marketing people have brainwashed them into wanting. So long as people feel strongly about ideas there'll be conflict. Sucks, but that's just the way it is. Personally I'd rather see a world that had war but where people were still capable of valuing things like honor or freedom than I would a world of peace where essentially nothing at all is valued or treasured.

  • Yeah, I agree that war is war and horrible things happen in war - no doubt about that - and that comparing them is really pointless in the end. I think your interpretation of war and why war happens is the typical result of leftists brainwashing "Oh war is so horrible...whoa is me!" Play the world's smallest violin why dont you. It can be terrible, but at the same time there's things like honor, dignity, and freedom that are worth dying and even killing for.

  • @duckdown1993 nothing is 'worth' killing for. To kill is the worst of all sins that can be realized in this existence. No person/s have the right to take any innocent lives or guilty ones.

  • @Crazycupmuffin

Shut up. In many instances in life mere self-defense woudl REQUIRE killing other people. But besides that there's also times when an idea or a cause may be worth killing for.

  • @duckdown1993 self defense does not REQUIRE to kill if it comes to that it should be last resort. But to honestly say there is something WORTH killing for? is insane. there is no justification in this life for murdering innocent men women or children. You should be ashamed to even think such dark thoughts. The human race is one and the same.

  • @Crazycupmuffin

I hate to lean on the Nazi defense but sometimes extremes are the only examples people are capable of understanding. If the Waffen SS rolled into your town would you be willing to sacrifice your health, freedom, and life itself in favor of non-violence? If you were starving Frech peasant in the 18th Century would you take violence off the table? Maybe you would, but thats because you value submissiveness which I don't think is a particularly noble trait to hav

  • @duckdown1993 i would never kill an innocent kid in a car bomb or rape women just for fun then shoot them in the back of the head in vietnam or gut out innocent people and pull their organs out in an order to insure they die slowly and show them their insides like the shankill butchers did. If you think there are causes worthy of doing these things then I truly feel sorry for you.

  • @Crazycupmuffin

Oh shut up. You know perfectly well I'm not advocating that kind of behavior. Should reasonable steps be taken to ensure soldiers don't get out of hand during wartime? Absolutely, but attrocities are committed in any war. The My Lai massacre doesn't detract from the importance of fighting Communism. Personally, if I had a choice between living under Soviet rule or fighting a war were 1,000 My Lai massacres occured I'd choose fighting the war everytime.

  • @duckdown1993 wise outlook... under such a circumstance 99 percent of people would bow down especially in the absense of organised leadership.

so use your judgment of people sparingly. there is only strenght in numbers. its easy to foresse yourself as a brave, heroic leader sitting at a computer but if the actual circumstance were to arrise.. things may pan out a little different especially if no one were willing to back you up. catch my drift??

  • @Crazycupmuffin I used to believe such a thing but in nature it is fair for say that a victims family or loved one should decide the faith of the captive murderer. if they so please that they wish to execute the person well so be it but if they wish to let the person free well that too should be. however if this murderer were to kill again well then the orginal jury would be just as guilty because they are accountable. This is balance and the ruling of human nature.

  • @TheTechController thats bull. Noone has the right to take a life, noone but god. And we are only humans. If someone murders someone they wll have to answer to god in life and in death, because this isnt all their is in life. Their is the afterlife, the thing that happens when we die. God will judge those not you and I.

  • @Crazycupmuffin sit on it and twirl

  • @TheTechController thats your big response? Your obviously a 15 year old boy who has no idea what he is talking about if thats how you interact with people.

  • @Crazycupmuffin yeah your right.. pretty immature response, maybe we should meet up and cry into each others arms

  • @TheTechController dont you have better things to do than tell people killing is good?

  • @Crazycupmuffin lol... if you've taken anything from our tit for tat you might agree that I was saying the vitimised should have the right to decide whether a judgement killing is good for them or not. I personally may be more foregiving based on the nature. meaning that if it were a heatet outburst as compared to an organised killing without remose. then I may have a bit more anger and wish to make an example of the psycho. People should really think twice before killing

  • @TheTechController 'People should really think twice before killing'? are you serious listen to what your sayin you freak. Who thinks like that? People with sense dont ever think about killing anyone. You either have issues or your just ignorant.

  • @Crazycupmuffin no tissue for my issue.. call me freak again and I'll report your username to the Youtube Administration, might teach you to pull the head out of your backside and smell the real God dam roses. I wish the world were the teddy bears picnic you think it is but it's not. It is vicious, cruel and to large degree without remorse. Good day.

  • @Crazycupmuffin sorry to break it to you... but you are now entering the mindset of solitude. Yes those people who drink by themselves for themselves.. where bad thoughts come to mind. You've obviously never struggled with depression or thought ill of other people just because they are happy. well I have, luckily I have supportive and loving family who helped pull me through, but for some people they dont.. and those thoughts become reality. You my dear are ignorant.

  • @Crazycupmuffin so how do you explain your God 'concept' to an atheist... I personlly have my logic but thats based on experience. The only thing that deters bad people from commiting crimes against humanity is fear of been caught, judged and punished. Now, without a believe of an afterlife.. your logic becomes a joke and bad people go about their business without a care in the world, particuarly if they are positioned above the law. So do you still feel safe???

  • comparing wars and victims????seriously guys???get a life!just listen to the music...and pray for no more blood....

  • @molkoula

It is pretty childish, granted. But this cat just swoops into the thread to tell me that Iraq wasn't anything like N. Ireland and that I have no clue what I'm talking about. I'm not going lay down for that nonsense. He stepped outta line so I had to check him.

  • @duckdown1993 well each war happens 4 a reason.the big guys who all have a plan for humanity-and that is to destroy it so they can rule and enjoy wealth and power-decide how to brainwash ppl and lead them to a war and to killing each other.reasons can be financial,politics,religion..either way its man against man!no matter why there was a war in N.Ireland or Iraq bottom line is ppl died for nthg..as always..lets just be kind&peaceful and dont let menace, hatred, revenge etc make us murderers..

  • @molkoula

So you'd compare Northern Ireland to Stalingrad just because people died over something you think was senseless? Dude, you're out of your Goddamn mind.

  • @duckdown1993 1st of all,Im not a dude..Im a girl..and sorry but my opinion is that every war is a war...either 1 person dies or millions still we have blood on sb's hands..I can understand ofc if a nation wages war against another to conquer it for example then ok the other nation has to fight back and defend the land..but still the war is senseless because the 1st nation never should have started it...killing each other is senseless and cruel..all wars must be avoided...but this will never

  • @duckdown1993 happen coz man will always be thirsty for power and money and evil will prevail.its sad...no matter what the reason is,a war is sthg awful....thats my point actually...I dont like comparing wars...

  • what about the music not politics u2 been there bought the tshirt

  • fuck off

  • thank you thank you thank you for posting this!

  • No, well, my grandparents are from Killkenny but thats not what I was thinking when I posted this. I'm a combat veteran of the Iraq war and am just tired of these hippies to be perfectly honest. Honestly, I feel more of a connection to an Iraqi insurgent than I do these folks who've never heard a single bullet whistle but moan about the injustices of humanity and trivialize any armed struggle. Some things need to be fought for...

  • @duckdown1993 Wait who are you talking about because most irish people my self included have been part of street gun battles in the north and seeing our friends get shot and killed in front of us,Ireland has seen a lot more violence than iraq and you being american its not something i expect you to know and understand.

  • @JordoF6

You can't possibly be serious in saying there's no comparing Iraq to N. Ireland. You're out of your freaking skull talking like that. Show me ONE incident - just ONE - where the British used Tanks or used aistrikes with 500lbs bombs during the entire conflict in Northern Ireland.

  • @duckdown1993 Ehem all the fucking time they used tanks and destroyed many buildings killing dozens daily i lived in east belfast in the 1990s the brits used a tank and accidently blew up a kids nursery and killed 15 kids and 3 minders theres an example for yeah and look at manchester bomb type that in those went off all the time.

  • @JordoF6

You're out of your mind. Tank battalions were not used in N. Ireland. You didn't have shit like Fallujah where whole tank brigades were allowed to run roughshod over an entire city. That simply didn't happen. In operation arrowhead ripper US planes dropped over 100 500lbs bombs in the first 12 hours of fighting. Thousands of insurgents killed in a matter of weeks. Fighting in N. Ireland (especially in the 90's) was very limited. Iraq was more dangerous...look at the numbers

  • joder, vaya temazo!!!

  • Anyone else find Bono's motives for making this song kind of suspect? He grew up in southern Ireland where the entire population had turned its backs on the Catholics in the North. He didn't grow up in Belfast and I think he should be more reserved in his public speeches about what went on there. Of course you'd be a hippy Bono - you never have your civil rights yanked from you or had a foreign army occupying your streets.

These hippies really REALLY need to get over themselves.

  • @duckdown1993 I do. Although I grew up listening U2 back in mid 80ies, last 15 yrs he made himself funny & fell badly in my view just because of his, actually, really naive political-wannabe speeches. Christ, don't we all know by now who's turning this world upside down, making chaos & pushing towards WW3??!! I've always felt that he's life was somehow just too easy,if you can see my point, like someone who never had any tragedies in family, yet sings about peace, love.. well fed in his childhood.

  • @duckdown1993 Again, all this is just my point of view, I do not want to offend anyone. Cheers

  • @omvelebit

You're absolutely right. It's very easy for these Upper Middle Class Western White folks to champion peace and love when they've been handed everything. Most of the world is malnurished but so long as you can still flip a spatula in the US your basic needs will be provided for. I find the Western Middle Class life of apathy, sloth, and docility fundamenally offensive - but telling others how to live, others who live in combat zones - thats just breathtaking arrogance

  • @duckdown1993 Yes, arrogance is the correct word. You're from Northern Ireland, I presume, or you have some close connection with NI?

  • Love this Song!

  • сильный трэк! пит покойся с миром.

  • irish and polish together!

  • @jimmy53436 O holy God!

  • @jimmy53436

there is your thesis. Want to elaborate?

  • Long live the memory of Pete and what he fought for.

  • Ireland belonged to the Celts before it got fragged by Christianity. No religion reserves the right to kill and destroy to convert. Just as no one race has the right to "own" another or enslave a country simply for the sake of owning it. All have done wrong and all will pay for their folly. Freedom is won with free hearts, not the enslaved masses of the world today. This song reminds me that freedom sometimes has to be won. Free your minds and stop letting yourselves be enslaved by hatred

  • i saw this movie during english lesson,i love it becaus ewe have to be rebels in order to change the world, not words but actions.

  • amo a Daniel-Day Lewis. Simplemente único...

  • filmfanatica21,if he doesN't have any english|(ANIMALs' STENCHy Sewage)=blood, then he's REALlySEXi.I feel a bit of a hero myself since once english police woMen=MINGEs tried2bite my ass,I took them on. • I literally starred at Daniel Day Lewis' face through this entire song lol

  • ps didn't see the end yet, and i don't know the wole story, and now i'll watch it, sure that they will not ever get out.

  • Only accept the truth and don't hope anymore. be strong and smart enought to know that the truth is that there isn't any truth, that all of us are by definition "bad" and our hole race is a selfish self-destructive stupid joke of that error that is nature and life. Accept that in the world there are only 2 kind of people, the ones who oppress and the oppressed. Don't deny that it will be like this forever, that GOD, religion and nationality are tools of control and nothing more.

  • @marcfiliuta i deny it :)

  • maybe one day if we try we can be a better race of people, the only one there is The HUMAN race, maybe even overcome all the damage we've done to each other,or God could just scrap the experiment!!!

  • in theUk=Hell0nEarth, Black Boys might have a Prob. with knife culture (glamour_ised by Rap), ASIAN boys with being radicalised and ASIAn Girls with learning too much (Most ASIANs become Doctors, accountants, solicitors, managers, etc) & white, english"GIRLs"=WCs with TooMuch: booze,drugging,assaulting!Men/BOYs,STDs,obesity,illiteracy,Porn 4FreeFUCKing inPublic/onCamera which they themselves!bragAbout instead of being ashamed like the Germans ab. their Nazi past.UK = PERverSe CoUNTry inALLways

  • without getting in too deep, religion and war appeared at the same time in human development. You do the math. As for christians forgetting the Holy Land, they already have. There is no more christians in Israel nor Palestine. They were caught up in the middle, and had to leave to survive. The Pope didn't move a finger in their favor, too busy to reconcile with the jewish ppl and apologizing for WWII sins...

  • every empire has a dark side.

  • @KGBfbiSECUpolitia write properly, so i can read and understand what you were trying to say.

  • ArturoDabdoub , It's funny how (other) englishBorn ppl doN't get what I write. I only deal with Intellectuals,Somebodies, etc and SEXiii ones at that ,

    Ciao Arturo !

  • @KGBfbiSECUpolitia i understood that. im sorry to make you mad, but it makes me ad, as to most people to have to read stuff like "Th1s KInd 0f+HiNgs". I really didnt understood half of what you wrote.

  • IN THE NAME OF George Best !

  • the nation of child sex-abuse............parents handing their own children over to the priests to be sexually abused.....sick country

  • @ThePostbear who knows... sicker than a country (usa) that speaks about freedom, but enslaves the world with its own vision, which is addicted to fight, and educates its children to punch before talking, and to use guns before the fists? nah, its just the other side of the mirror, alice. doesnt look pretty, but its the same stuff in different order. both are extremists in their own way

  • @ThePostbear Sick comment.

  • @joolsdallan postBEAR...says it all. Im guessing a follower of a certain football club in Scotland. Anyone has the word "bear" in their name and are anti-Irish, sorta gives it away!

  • Can anyone tell me where I can find this song???? It totally rocks!!!

  • Can anyone tell me where I can actually find this song???

  • @Cbermeo75 the picture in the video says its from a soundtrack of a movie. check it.

  • thumbs up if you think Daniel Day Lewis is the greatest actor today!

    thumbs up for Pete Postlethwaite!

    thumbs up for Ireland!!!!

  • @niloh96 Actually I *DO* believe he's the greatest actor living today! Look at both Gangs of NY & There Will Be Blood: there's not a shred of his own personality in those characters, he actually becomes a different person entirely. DeNiro used to do that, hasn't for a long time. Brando used to also. Postlethwaite got nom'd for an Oscar, probably should've won, matched DDL in every scene they shared.

  • fuckin british murdering bastards tiocfiadh ar la and ur day will come 2 ta answer for wat ye done not just ta ireland but everywhere the so called british empire ruled hun cunts

  • This is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard.

  • tiocfaidh ar la

  • FREE THE PEOPLE !!!

  • Excellent music. Exemplar movie.

  • Powerful!!!

  • My dad was a soldier who did several tours in NI back in the 70s. They were always being warned about ‘honey-traps’- pretty girls enticing them home only to have them ambushed & shot.

One time one of these had been thwarted- the gunmen were arrested earlier in the day, but the girl didn’t know. My dad ‘fell into’ the trap- only for him & 5 mates to brutally rape her over several hours. They said that if she didn’t keep quiet they’d say she was the grass who caused the arrests!

  • @SuperTruth77 really your father and his buddies gang raped her?....maybe they deserved to be ambushed and shot after all

  • @SuperTruth77 WHAT?????

  • Pete Postlehwaite!!!

I burn a paper sailboat and throw it out of the (prison) window in your honor sir!!

  • Back in the days, when Bono wrote REALLY awesome songs! Great soundtrack, great movie, I consider this to be even better than Shawshank...

  • Comment removed

  • It's the best movie, really the best I have ever watched!!!!

  • RIP FATHER, this to the actor who played father in the movie. Pete Postlethwaite

  • Any Brits wanna defend their ancestors? Can tell u Ireland was better off b4 they fragged the country for centuries and tried 2 beat Ireland down. The Irish always come back 4 more and anyone that wants to dispute that can get fragged themselves! And like the rest of the world....they got rid of the English 2.Keep em out.I believe in peace but sometimes you have to prove that ur spirit can't b broken!

  • RIP - Pete Postlethwaite

  • @nuffzed2001 He died? Sigh..... that's just fucked up :(

  • I am in complete agreement with the above! The English and their lackeys must "be put back to sea!"

  • Bono is a tax dodging twat! Something Eire needs at the moment is some of his money!

    The preachy pompous cunt!!!!

  • @lurchendale When u2 play a concert in Dublin like 360 tour last year it brings millions upon millions to the irish economy, people travel from all over the world every hotel room filled every pub full. And be honest if you where rich would you want to give away yout money?

  • @dwainecolton It is not about "giving away money". It is about paying your way like most people do.....

  • As a half Irish half British Catholic, I can honestly say all the bigotry on here makes me thoroughly ashamed.

  • Great Song it goes perfect with the Movie!

  • @99IraqBaghdad99,How can you call the British corrupt with your backward country's history? The US and Britain bombed Iraq because Saddam bragged that he had wmd..Dont compare Ireland with Iraq you fucking moron

  • Ireland, India, Scotland.......what is it with the English and their almost insatiable lust to kill and destroy everything that isn't English?

  • I still love this song. For 16 yrs now. Never gets boring...

  • Great song. Garbage production.

  • okaay i cannot find this song anywhere on itunes can somebody help me find it because i reeeeealy love this song!!!!

  • @KGBfbiSECUpolitia What the fuck are you on?...you sound more like an ALQUIDA terrorist....dont hate the the english just for one miscarriage of justice..the IRA were killing years before the guilford bombing..

  • @mightywhite41 and the english have been killing in Ireland from the 12th Century...an occupying oppressive force will ALWAYS encounter a resistance! you cannot morally try to defend an invading force!! one miscarriage of justice?!?!? please tell me your taking the piss!!! go pick up a history book!! in the last 40 years alone there have been thousands upon thousands of miscarriages of justice!! grow up will ya!!

  • @OConnell1916 The Irish are great at playing the victim, in fact no others can touch them, but what about the Irish involvement in the black slave trade?

    Get some perspective.

  • @darrenlad Ireland has been a victim for over 800 years...we never invaded your country, we never imposed our religion, our culture, our language, or our laws on you, so dont pretending englands this great nation...please explain because this is the first i have heard about this, or anyone else for that matter!! since your talking about slaves...i'll send you a link via mail...cant send it over this.

  • @OConnell1916

What kind of an idiot are you? Firstly I am Irish, secondly I didn't even mention England in my comment, and thirdly it is a well known historical fact that Ireland was a major player in the Black slave trade.

  • @darrenlad ur profile says ur from the uk, im from Fermanagh, and im Irish!! idiot?? well since u seem so smart maybe u'd provide some evidence of this: a link, a book, a journal maybe, to back up your statements...its funny that ur calling me an idiot, when all ur doing is stating accusations!!

  • I saw this film when I was in my last year of high school and the minute this song started, I was hooked, but even more so with the incredible true story and performances. This is one of my favourite films of all time and helped me understand more about the difficult political situation in Ireland and stirred interest in understanding more. Highly recommended viewing!

  • One of the best movie I have ever watched in my life! The fuckin' corrupted British system wanted to colonize whatever they could! But, the will of free people in all times and places wins! Go Gerry! Let everyone who is free loves you and be himself / herself in the shape of Gerry as an idea! I'm Iraqi and this movie is the identical image of what's in Iraq!

  • @99IraqBaghdad99..Peace be with you,the English(powers that be) are tyrannical inbred scum whom deserve no right in your country.I wish you and yours peace.

  • @99IraqBaghdad99

hang on, dude, they wont rule forever... noone did.

  • @mrakavac1

Hi buddy. I know that and they've already shown the white flag. Greetings . . .

  • @99IraqBaghdad99 dont compare this to iraq, these were innocent men!along with the birmingham six,u wrong un!!!what ur people did were blood thirsty,ie twin towers,9.11,and 7,7 u fuckin mongrel'!!!!!!

  • @2robrobin You dont know anything about Iraq..... you fucking racist..... Tell me how many times you've been to Iraq????

  • @2robrobin Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11

  • @99IraqBaghdad99 he has a point what america did to and is doing to ur country is wrong but the millions of innocent killed in 911 now noone pitys ur country well done destroying what ever rights your country had if you wanted bush kill him not millions of innocents ur reatrd

  • @djdamo1993 millions killed in 9/11 ? kill Bush..what the fuck are you talking about?

  • @99IraqBaghdad99 Totalmente de acuerdo contigo

  • @99IraqBaghdad99 I understand your words loud and clear. America.brits etc. have no right in your country. Phoney war masterplanned by despotic oligarchs in the name of money and land. Peace be with you

  • @99IraqBaghdad99 i dont think they won considering he was about 45 when he got out his sister who was 17 was 32 when she got out!

  • @99IraqBaghdad99 wat makes ure people any different. i agree that the british motives are wrong but ure people kill an maim aswell, sometimes in barbaric proportion. roadside bombs, suicide bombers...... need i say more. theres two sides to every story and no side is perfect in this conflict. !!!

  • @stewpot83 Problem is that terrorism is a reactionary movement, much like the IRA, were it not for the oppression of the british regime, the discrimination towards irish catholics in the north through the 80's etc these things would have never come to be. I would never say the IRA are even right, on the contrary, but after being kept underfoot by an unjust britan in history, i can understand how its difficult for some to give way and see where the world is now.

  • Comment removed

  • @stewpot83 whe irish catholics in northern ireland put up with years of bigotry and repression, having no prospects and not being able to prospect, their only answer was to be forced to leave the place they've live in for generations by a force who is foriegn to that land, or, stay and fight for what they belive in the only way they could, because protests and marching never worked, look up bloody sunday, or are you going to have some reason why that happened too?

  • @keithconron never understood what this is about: catholics are supposed to be poor. materialism, money, making it are protestant values, not catholic ones. everybody knows, since webern, that catholic countries are poorer than protestant ones. so what was their/your problem? killing people for this none value? pls explain it to me. great song, by the way

  • @frtac, are you catholic?

  • @keithconron naturally, i am. what we have here is a case of people confronting their historical nemesis and mixing religion into it. the catholic attitude toward an enemy is to forgive, love, turn the other cheek... a very good strategy not to feel like a victim and take control of the situation. i think gandhi had the same idea (a pacifist approach to confrontation). testosterones, though, have a tendency to get in the way...

  • @frtac when there is religion involved, far from be testosterones, the trouble lies within fanatism. Theres no point for a holy war: theres nothing more sacred than life.Jews should also stop complaining about israel:they kicked out arabs out of their homes, and they still want to fight for sake of tradition. And those arabs who are also fanatics wont gain anything from killing people randomly around the world. if christians indeed put the other cheek, they would have forgotten the holy land.

  • @frtac Catholic !!ha!! dont make me laugh,,., O wait you just did, I'm Irish brought up with all there bull s*&t I thinks you need to look a little closer because what they teach is not the word of god.Start with the second Commandment, and not the one they say it is.

  • @99IraqBaghdad99 correct,nice one

  • they fought for freedom for 15 years and finally got it but the english imprisoned them knowing they were innocent.. They spent 15 years in prison for fuckal... the english took 15 years of thier life and thats priceless... They didnt do it...

  • Basque never was independent from spain, basque was are and will be a part of spain, The northert irland is an occupation by the brittish forces, the basque history are very little

  • Vive l'IRLANDE!

  • Long Live the Irish Ressistance TAL

  • this song needs a video!!!

  • probably the best movie ever!!! the soundtrack, theme, scenario.. all perfect.. to be honest at the end i dropped my tears.... very touchy
