  • 3:16 only Yngwie Malmsteen can kick his backup guitarist in the head, and get away with it.

  • Break This Guitar lml

  • I love that fucking keyboard sound ! They all rock !

  • That was quite possibly the coolest wammy bar sequence I have ever seen in my life time.

  • honestyl joe looks so gay...still his singing is bad ass

  • faggots...keyboard player is pretending to play, yngvie is dressed like idiot, singer also, and show with the guitar at the end of the clip is really shitty.

  • JOE LYNN TURNER!!

  • 4:12 yngwie's thoughts are "fuck it im gonna dismantle this microphone!"

    best song ever!!!

  • no yngwie no rock guitar

  • dude i love the head banging at 3:02. yngwie knows how to rock!

  • Wow, this is Yngwie at its best.

  • Not only is he a guitar genius, he's also a fashion genius!!!!

  • @AceBean27

    So true.

  • ive not seen tabs for this anywhere online :S HELP!!

but yeh, this song is just mega!

  • @LIAMcanbefoundhere type riot in the dungeons tabs and its the third link or fourth link. Its there just gotta look for it :) Sorta hard tho cuse of the rediculous speed

  • the studio solo sounded better, def one of the best songs on odyssey

  • I wonder if malmsteen misses concerts like that?

  • fuck this asshole! he is at the same time a guitar player and a clown....pathetic , the harmony sucks , he didn ' t create anything....maybe bullshits.

  • Haha, he gave the crowd some of his picks xD

  • I wish there were more songs like this on Odyssey

  • This version of this song still sounds modern and relevent today . Yngwie's great one of the best but he has copied Ritchie 's style to much , yes he likes him that's great . But he should be more of his own player like Steve Morse who playes his own signiture syle.

  • @georgef76 Copied Richie's style? More of his own player? Man, which planet are you from? :D

  • @densomtarhanhar Were you you from , the sewer, it's a well known fact he likes Blackmore style a hell of a lot , and grew up with his playing .It's there in his music you can hear it , but your'e to stupid to notice it , you fool. He has his own touches but Ritchie style is there also cunt.

  • @georgef76 Yeah, you really made your point there by calling me a cunt ;) Ofcourse he's influenced by Richie, but copied? Not a chance. Yngwie is unique.

  • @georgef76 If you think yngwie copied blackmore's style you are retarded, Malmsteen invented sweep picking he was the first to use scales like the harmonic minor, aeolian, phrygian and various diminished arpeggios in rock music, and while blackmore had some classical aspects to his playing, in no way it was similar to yngwies, I mean go listen to any blackmore solo and then to far beyond the soun or something, an if you think that is a rip off, you should kill yourself

  • @iggypoprulez Oh yeah , so the guy who loved in the 70's when he bought Machine Head and idolised has nothing to do with his playing . ItI's pretty obvious he alway's thanks Ritchie in his credits on albums why because he fucking taught him how to play , Ritchie was hot giutar player ion the 70's and yngwie learn't ' from him. Who said he copied him, Oh yeah and i'm getting ready to die for you now , am heading for the bridge to jump into to river right now!

  • @georgef76 SO this means ritchie was a influence on yngwie, and everyone has influences, and that doesnt mean yngwie ripped his style off, there is much more to yngwies guitar playing, than the blackmore influence, yngwie leaned his songs and shit, and that is what everybody does when they like a guitar player, but yngwie's style is still his own, not a ripoff of blackmore

  • @iggypoprulez WRONG!!! Ever hear of a guy called JOE SATRIANI? Satriani used sweeps, legato, and phrygian, aolian, and dorian modes all over his music. Yngwie is incredible, but don't give him credit for everything. Next, you'll be saying Yngwie invented the guitar!

  • @NeufilmsInc yngwie recorded the Genesis when he was 17or 16- in 1979 or 1980, and showed all his techniques on it, during this time satriani was in some random rock band and a guitar teacher, and he recorded his first solo album in 1986- yngwie came before satriani, and also, Joe doesnt use those scales too much, he is really a blues- rock based player who mostly uses minor/major, and blues and pentatonic scales, very rarely using exotic scales

  • @iggypoprulez Oh, I Agree that yngwie is an incredible guitarist, I'm simply saying that he didn'e "invent" sweeps. And it was in 86 that Satriani released his first album, but that doesn't mean he wasn't sweeping before then. All I'm saying is that people like to say "first" a lot and I think often they are mistaken, but I definately respect your knowledge of rock history.

  • @NeufilmsInc , If we really get into it, it was probably uli jon roth or that genesis guitarist who first used sweeps :) , but my whole "yngwie the innovator" comment was a response to a guy who claimed that yngwie completely ripped off blackmores style, and about the sweeps, i know many guys used them, but i bleieve it was yngwie who popularized them- made them a staple in rock guitar, and it is very likely that he invented them (used them on a guitar first, as violinists use them all the time)

  • @NeufilmsInc I know that he tried to copy what violinists did, and the sweeps came from that probably, and you are right, I used the wrong word here, as he didint invent the sweeps, but was probably the first to apply them to the electric guitar.

  • @iggypoprulez lol. Sorry I went off on you there;) I just got steamed because I read one too many comments from people who have listened to little music and played even less saying things like "this guy sucks, so-and-so invented that" and all kinds of junk that they have no real clue about, and I took it out on someone who actually knows their stuff! Thanks for being a sport about it, and it was fun to get to chat with someone who actually has a clue!

  • @NeufilmsInc yngwie deserves credit for the things he did, he is one of the most innovative guitarists in history, alongside les paul, jimi, van halen and paco de lucia and tony iommi

  • amazing convert so fucking spiritual atmosphere

  • @osamabinladen19 i mean concert T_T

  • ¡¡¡¡¡ Ynguie Malmsteen,

    Jens Johanson,

    Anders Johanson,

    Barry Dunaway and

Joe Lynn Turner¡¡¡¡¡ THE BEST COMBINATION!!!!!!!

  • Who is the bass player?

  • Looks like hes going to kick the bassist in the face at 3:17

  • donde puedo obtener este audio please

  • This is intro is so full of energy. If im out running and get tired, putting this tune on is like drinking a red bull or similar.

  • the beat kicks ass and Yngwie kicks ass

  • he was fat for a year and now hes normal when did he get fat

  • this riff is so fucking sick

  • Are amazing, all of them.

By the way, what year was this?

  • @Megatrane

    1989

  • 1989

  • @Megatrane 1989 live in leningrad, the first band to cross to ex-urss

  • This band rocks. Insane guitar, great keyboardplayer, good singer and good drums/bass.

  • wtf

  • i love you

  • 2:17 awesome

  • I saw this tour w/ Joe Turner in the late 80's in Phoenix, AZ What a show...

The place was fairly small and we were there early for sound check and got to watch the whole sound check with the whole band...and then Joe and YM took some bags of popcorn and bottles of Sprite, of all things, and jumped into a waiting cab and "went to tidy up before the show...love" Great memories

  • isso q é ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • as a singer, yngwie is a terrifc guitar god!

    lol

  • yea

but he was one of the first shredders and popularized shred guitar like no other...

if the "other shredders" that u said exist is because of yngwie...

  • Key words "ONE OF THE FIRST". The first shredder in history is Eddie Van Halen.

  • jazz guitarists were shredding on classicals long before rock

  • Excelent Great!!

  • one of the best guitarists ever ! singer is gr8 too :)

  • Comment removed

  • Lol i swear sometimes i think that yngwie wished he could sing so he wouldn't have to hire a singer and so he could get even more attention! still he rules XDDDD

  • omg! the deceptorcons have infiltrated my secret lair! it is only a matter of time until... no... no please... not the hac.....arghhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Not true but hilarious comment man lol.

  • 2:08 we sings a harmony and holds an A minor Chord while you can clearly hear if you listen a shredding descending line with some whammy work to finish it off...yet he is still holding an Am chord....hmmmmm....lol

    Still good though

  • I would love to hear it without the overdubs (or what it's called).

    Would be interesting :)

This rocks but yeah would be cool to hear the "real" version :)

  • someone on the stage is gay!!

i saw this long ago, but is he really..

  • No he aint. Everyone wore clothes like this in the eighties xD

  • at 0:55 to 0:58 i can hear a pinch harmonic but i dont see him playin 1!

  • I saw him play one quite clearly. Look at the amount of vibrato he applies to the string at 56 seconds. That was it right there, it's just he had to jump right back into the rhythm after,

  • @deadmanshand2008

I know, i have the same feeling, sometimes music matches with the video, and sometimes not!!!!

  • this has had to be one of yngwie's best performances ever!!

    specially the spasebo blues solo

    yngwie rules!!!

  • yngwie is da best!

  • Die on your feet ..live on your knees!

  • @voyeristica story of me and your mom

  • Yngwie was hot back then ;)

  • yeah ! Oberheim Matrix 12 !!

  • I love the pants of joe lynn tuner

  • maybe malmsteen did get a little better with age cuz i saw him live a few months ago and he was perfect.

  • Like, his butt and stuff?

  • hahah i meant his playing, he didnt miss a note. queer

  • Haha! I know. Actually he is better than ever, IMHO. Cept I prefer his older tone with the HS-3's versus the YJM's in his guitar.

    -Arroyo-

  • I like yngwie when he was younger. Better tone, and better creativity with his solos. I think he gets very repetetive nowadays.

  • over dubed thats just wrong your a guitar god not 50 cent LOL

  • 4:15 pick shooting !!

  • even though its dubbed, i think the solo and piano solo are fantastic

  • It isn't dubbed, silly. It's "live", mistakes and all.

  • from 2:10 to 2:14 you can see that it is dubbed over...

but I still like Yngwei .

    and Yens.

  • Alot of it is dubbed, or "repaired" ... Jens mentioned in an interview somewhere, that none was happy with this concert, so they had to fix it.

  • SOMEWHERE? LOL you don't even have bases.

  • Getting sensitive now, arn't we? You can't handle the possibillity that an Yngwie Malmsteen concert was "repaired", as I described it? Also, I don't need bases. I'm not here to prove anything to you. I know it's true, and I don't give a rats ass if you belive it or not.

  • wow i cant believe he isn't dead yet...

  • god bless yngwie and jens johanson 3:03...

  • Golden years for YJM!!! I hope he returns soon!!!

  • that amp is dead

  • top marks for the song. fail mark for the skinny leather pants!

  • from 5'25 to 5'32 .................... =°

  • THE GOD!!!!!!!!!!

  • BKN

  • genial...

  • I think they should have done the backing vocals on the studio version too. Otherwise, excellent song-my favourite.

  • este video es lo maximo

  • The audio is clearly from another night... (i dont want to say a studio take...)

  • Its not taken from a studio record or something you noob...Its a fucking live in Leningrand...MOFO

  • e tora ama den xerei ti na tou peis tou paidiou

  • Jens Johansson says on his website that everything is redubbed except Anders' drums.

  • What ure saying this show even Joe Lynn is miming?? But whatever it is this concert rocks and still entertaining in years to come.. i still enjoy it!!

  • Yes, this is what Jens Johannsson has said. If you go to his homepage and then into his CD's section he says:

"RF: Trial by Fire: "Live" In Leningrad

    (Polydor 839 726-2/1989)

Awful sound. Everything overdubbed except the drums (which you can't hear anyway) and most of the key solos.

    "

I think if you watch closely enough you can hear Joe Lynn Turner miming. They certainly did it with the concert in Japan with Jeff Scott Soto.

It is a very common thing. Re-recording. (cont.)

  • (cont.)

Even Vai and Satriani and other people do it. They did it on the G3 album, where they retouched things.

On that record, only Johnson was man enough to say "no, my playing stays the same as I recorded it that night" and he did not re-record anything or touch it up.

  • On this video, you can see around 1:48 where Yngwie's hand stays still, but the sound is a little run on the guitar.

In a way it doesn't matter too much, cause it is great music.

  • lol wut?

  • Wow, at 1:51, Malmsteen actually allows almost a 2 second shot without him in it! Again at 2:20 Joe is allowed almost a full 3 second shot. And of course the thing we really want to see during the amazing keyboard solo, is more Malmsteen!

  • Kick ass song, I was pissed that it wasn't on the "LIVE in Leningrad CD. I hope they make a special edition of the CD!!! Play Loud!!!

  • WOW this song is so damn AWeSoMe! i cant get enough of malmsteen. my screen name says it ALL!

  • This is one of my favorite songs. It has a nice atmosphere to it.

  • This is so great, one of my favourits.

  • This song is really cool!!! One of my favorite Odyssey songs..

  • I LOVE this song, i remember being so obssesed with it a few years ago i forced myself to memorize the lyrics cause there so bad ass....

locked up in chains, backs to the wall....

    FROZEN IN TIME!!!

  • Awesome.

  • Yeah man me too! So much thanks for uploading this amazing video of this amazing song of this amazing concert.

  • I've been waiting to see a video of this. Thanks!
