The next time I see Dex, I will undoubtedly be handing him one of the two custom-made guitars I am in the process of making. We are close buddies from Chapel Hill. I've since moved to Portland Oregon and have hung out near his venues when he toured here. I await his return, but by the time I get a chance to visit chapel Hill, I'll have the duo of guitars made. Jack had all dex's recorsds as a kid. I LOVE Jack's choice of guitar, I will be cloning it from old church organ wood steampunk style.

linkrayz, I'm with you. I have no idea why Dex hasn't gone much further by now. I was in Athens in 85/6 when they first moved to town, and I thought the same thing the first show I saw. He's still as great as ever. Amazing musician, amazing thinker, amazing energy. I just don't get it.

the video information is wrong, dexter was extremely successful but he wasn't successful in flat duo jets - he was successful in a band called the white stripes
It's "Need a Whole Lotta You" by Benny Joy. I asked Dex about this tune last time I saw him play. Benny Joy is a rockabilly guy from Tampa, Florida that Dex loves.

Dex influenced Jack, same as Buddy did the Quarrymen, on and on it goes.

This guy is an American treasure. It's so rare to see someone who can still make rock and roll scary and unpredictable.
