Although I can no longer describe myself as a "Christian" (because so much of what generally passes for "Christianity" in my country is, frankly, offensive to the work of Christ), I do sincerely appreciate what Brian McLaren is saying here.

We should also not allow the violent god become America's state god like the Roman state god. In Brian's own song lyrics I profess that I am an Atheist to the god of violent jihad. I believe in the God of compassion who calls us to action. God bless everyone, unconditionally!
