  • So, I just found the resource monitor now, and I'm not quite so tech savvy...is this thing able to monitor how much bandwidth each computer on my network is consuming? Or will I have to get another program that can give me a weekly/monthly report on who's consuming how much?

  • I ran out of room explaining all the things i use my vista computer for... including cruising the internet... and i can do them all at the same time without noticing any slowodwn. But hey, Mac commercials are real funny and convincing that vista sucks so it must be the truth, cause why would money hungry hipsters lie to us through commercials.

  • @JIPALIG

    Who said anything about Mac?

And if Vista is so great, why do most gamers and businesses still run XP? It can't be because an upgrade to Vista cannot be called a real upgrade. I bought a computer that came with Vista. Used it for a few months, and had to replace it with Linux, something stable. I use Windows 7 now. Drivers actually work for it, and it uses way less memory. Plus half the games you mentioned take nothing to run, and I KNOW that they're not being ran to their fullest

  • you can see your readyboost too.

  • great detail. i was trying to find out what was using my external hard drive so frequently and not i do. thanks.

  • I like the Resource Monitor cause it shows the actual amount of ram used on your comp. The Task Manager does not.

  • holy crap, you got large monitors

  • Genius - what about a simple top or free command on the shell?

Takes on a OS for grown-up roughly 1 second ...

  • 100 bucks says this guy is a virgin

  • he has a lady you know...

  • @Pitraptor Hes divorced.

  • @luvinwafflez Hes divorced

  • @luvinwafflez probably gets 2ice as much pussy as you.

  • 100 BUCKS SAYS YOUR RETARDED

  • @luvinwafflez ROFL

  • windows 7 crushes mac

  • What about SHOWING the tool ? I think I see it running somewhere in th back, can you put a vase and some flowers on your desk as well ?

  • yeah......may be a bit better than vista, but nothing can touch conky

  • y you gotta be a dick?

he's tring to be a helpful hand to us techless people... don't be a dick!

  • or just use Everest ultimate edition.....

  • I have a question... what are you people doing to your systems who say that vista sucks so hard. I bought a hp pavilion (600canadian) preloaded with vista, Its never crashed, and it isnt slow. How does vista suck?

  • I've not idea, my computer has 2 years old running windows vista and also never crash, and runs very fast !

  • mines 9 yr old and runs vista and windows 7 just fine

  • mine too :) lol

  • You clearly haven't used XP or never used a computer in your life.

Gaming and aplicattions performance and driver problems make vista "Suck hard"

  • my desktop is a XP system, and i end up using my vista laptop for all my gaming and music recording because i find it faster and more stable, and driver problems? I havent had any driver trouble using either of my mp3 players, digital camera, printer, usb drum pad, or SideWinder gamepad. but hey I guess it must mean im computer illiterate that things work seamlessly for me.

  • Well YOU find it faster, but in all the reviews and in my personal experience, i have a lot of loss in performance (FPS in games and rendering and startup in Apps). You just can't avoid the facts, is slower. If you find it good for you, congratulations.

  • yeah drivers for video cards and network cards r gay for vista

  • @JIPALIG they have 1,5 ghz cpu and 250 mb ram so they cant run anything and they come with the conclusion that widows vista and 7 suck

  • @JIPALIG Vista does not suck. Vista is a big improvement of XP, but it has so many fails that people actually say it sucks, which lets other people who never used it believe that too, making them not believe people like you.

You know, stupid people on the internet..

  • @JIPALIG

It's takes up way too much memory. Many drivers were incompatible. Slow.

And since it used so much memory, it was harder to run games, edit video, multitask, etc.

So I'm assuming all you did was browse the internet with it, so you wouldn't notice any of these HUGE problems.

  • @Justin10473

Niice try buddy, but no, I use my computer for games such as : unreal tournament, world of warcraft, starcraft 1 and 2, pinball, snes emulator, Ages of empire just to name a few. I also have 2 different recording and editing programs on my computer (krystal and reaper) that i use to write record create and edit songs, and have actually released a couple demos right off of my computer and its freeware. I have likewise video recording and editing software.....

  • @JIPALIG performance wish not much different. a little FYI the video never mentioned performance problems; he was talking about the feature set, and how vista is lacking. go to the vista wiki and learn how vista was rushed.

  • Why does windows vista and 7 still support the look of windows 95, This is one of the things that i all ways hated about Microsoft. It took 5 years to create vista but we still have the option to live in the look of 95, where is Microsoft confidence.

  • I think it's because some people prefer to cling to well established visions of familiarity, kind of a "if it aint' broke don't fix it" thing, although, in windows 7 they got rid of the old start menu altogether. the only start menu option is the new one

  • i see his head evrywhere... exept on his desktop

  • windows 7 is looking very promising. os x will still be my main operating system though. if i can though i'll probably by a laptop and try it when it officially releases. =)

  • yer chris you rock you should get paid for this stuff

  • He does...

  • re: danrocks95 > he does actually. =)

  • any chance of that vrm thing?

  • My problems with 7 have been compability with old apps and the weird freezing that has occurred a couple times (sometimes everything freezes for a couple seconds when I've lots of windows open, even though I'm running a pretty strong machine), other than those haven't had any trouble and actually I've been noticing a lot of good improved things, pretty much anything can be changed from A to B if you didn't like A, and on overall everything works better than on XP for example.

  • I posted before on how my soundmax didnt work, I thought also my soundblaster live didnt work, but the fix was simple do a windows update.. Only issue now is this.. the audio is distorted and too much bass. I tryed changing the audio quality as some sites have meantioned but still i hear things like poping and static.. no problem in xp.. other then that windows 7 is great

  • I'm not impressed at windows 7, it doesnt work at all with soundmax intergated so I plugged in my old soundblaster live.. still no luck getting sound.. unless someone has a fix.. I even tryed vista drivers from asus site. Which I failed to install. I guess my pc is too old.. P4 2.6ghz 1gig of ram geforce 7300gt 512mb. Well oh well I'm trying now vmware.

  • You're not impressed with Windows 7 because your soundcard's company hasn't made drivers for it? You do realize that has nothing to do with Windows 7 and everything to do with your soundcard manufacturer? Email your card company and tell them to work with Microsoft to get drivers released or to get their butt in gear and release them themselves!

  • dose he buy his stuff

  • Actually I'm overall satisfied with vista, but I do agree with you, I would like to have 7 has a free upgrade since I'm using Vista.

  • sysinternals

  • Far out man! !! I wish i knew what he was talkin about....lucky i have a blerd for a friend...blerd=black nerd

  • Awesome it looks like windows 7 is hitting it off better than vista did:)

Im totally getting it as soon as its outta beta:)

  • she cheats on him...

  • You're *

  • dude, hes married, and this is his job, he gets paid to talk about computers.

  • you need to tell your geek followers that they should not police the chat like it a privet club that you have to suck ass to be allowed to be in

  • After seeing this vid I had forgotten about the Activity Monitor that OS X has already in it. So I turned it on. Leopard doesn't appear to bog the system down at all. :-)

  • you can get something like that for Mac, it's called iStat Pro, it goes on your dashboard.

  • you are not a power user chriss. all you do is just surf the nett and check your mail and stuff. i never seen you do any kind of power intensive stuffs like rendering, gaming, simulation, calculation and stuff. so its actually enough for you with a net pc big screens, good sound card microphone and 20mbps/1mbps internet. ;)

  • ah, so it's like activity monitor in os x.

  • Tv host, Badman.

  • lol @ that unclejohn guy in the chatroom

  • Chris is good; but if somebody was to cassify my overall standing in reguard to personal computers, I prefer them to say "Power Generator."

  • i'm starting to like Windows again becasue of windows 7

  • Me too. They really came through.

  • @macias9133 Me too ;)

  • sweet chris! :) like the look of windows seven... how much power in the computer do you need to run that? and does the other software's slow down like from xp to vista did?

  • am not being rude but our we talkin about windows 7 or the new task manager ?

  • Comment removed

  • its great that Chris is doing vids on Windows again...i'm hoping eventually chris will use windows again more then mac OS...

  • What is the other monitor used for??

  • its just one screen connected to each other, basically more screen space

  • LOL i formattred like 4 months ago

    and i installed drivers via

    cd

and i opend my cd drive the other day and the disk was still in there

thats y they are selling computers with no disk drives any more

  • lol great

  • when do you guys think windows 7 will be released

  • next yr probs

  • My CPU is always 70 - 100!!!

  • ponzi is h0t

  • um, does anyone know how to get AOL permanently off your computer?

  • Go to add/remove programs and uninstall anything having to do anything with AOL. If there is nothing, then go to run and type msconfig. Then click on the second last tab and deselect anything having anything to do with AOL. Hope this helps!

  • Lol, Reinstall Windows or install another OS. Or nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

  • i agree! It took me half a year to get it safely off my old machine...

  • never use windows own uninstall program it always leaves crap behind. use a 3rd party software try a free program called Revo Uninstaller

  • the crap it leaves behind can be cleaned up by running registry mechanic, a $20 a year program, and CCleaner, which is free btw.

  • As long as there are games I will stay with windows. I am thinking about switching to linux or OS X for my music recording however.

  • xp is good..... everything after vista i think is gonna suck just like vista did.

  • i use vista and i love it, and i used to have xp for 2 years. got bsod once but it just restarted and it worked again, and i hadnt turned off my comp for like a week... i never do lol

  • glitch?

  • Anything started in Vista is CRAP. You can pollish a turd, but it still stinks. Windows is a failed platform. They are trying to hide it's many flaws with flashy graphics (like the mac OS). I would be happy if more people would go to Linux and Open-source platforms. But Vista sucks, and Windows 7 is sure to follow as I have seen thus far.

  • i agree...i have vista...and i HATE it

  • Yeah! I was actually a true Microsoft fan up until Vista. But, Vista is so bad that I began downgrading my computers to XP or installing Ubuntu on them. Vista is VERY flashy, but it is just a bad platform. And based on my beta testing of Windows 7, they just pollished Vista up a little.

  • That makes us two... unfortunatly... OS X RULLEZ

  • lol i wish i had mac so bad

  • How is Win 7 sure to follow? Maybe you need your eyes checked, look at all th positive reviews.

  • Well friend - as I said, I WAS always a Windows fan. But ANY company that would produce Vista is a FAILING company. Windows has always been said to have issues (which it does) and they are made more notorious because 90% of computer users run some version of windows. But Vista is JUST A MESS. I actually have the Beta of Windows 7 installed. But trust me - Windows 7 (the retail version) will have MAJOR problems. They add too much crap to the retail version.

  • hellllllllooooooooooooooooooo

  • wtf lol

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa wtf?????????

  • Good to hear that they finally opened up the "pit" and allowed users to find the problem. A problem in vista... you are out of luck. MrPoliceNoYouCantEnterThisArea will stop you!

  • Jan 15? (Up at the top date)

  • This guy is always giving out frieken coupons

  • It's better to have a MAC these days, even if you are intresed in games. Since most new games appear on both sistems these days, and most games that appear usually apear on consoles too. Besides theres barely any virus for Mac.

  • What is that glowing light on the top?

  • whens windows 7 out anyway?

  • 2010

  • do you have the flew chris??

  • when does windows 7 come out. since i am getting a new pc within the next couple weeks. just curious

  • don't have 1k to blow

  • If that's aimed at Chris then he does have a Mac, he's running a MacPro with 2 3.2GHz Xeons and 8GB of RAM. He just runs Windows and other OS's in a VM so he doesn't have to touch his main OS and potentially screw it up, plus he can move between the two at will seeing as the VM runs n top of OSX. If you were rplying to someone else sorry, YouTube messes the comment structure up lol.

  • It's actually a Mac Pro with 16GB of RAM...

  • sometime in 2010

  • yes.. but.. no.. but..yes..but.. no i email microsoft and they sayed that thay sould have the full version on the late on 09 or maybe early of 10

  • truth

  • thanks thats a bit to long to wait for me

  • i'm running on windows 7 right now. it's really good. once the full version is out, i'm gonna get it ^^

  • I have Win7 on my VMWare fusion as well :)

  • I have Mac Os X 10.5.6 on my VMWare, on pc >:E.

  • Good for you!

  • Virtual PC 2007 FTW!!!!

  • Phewey, Windows 7 has crashed more in one day than my Vista machine in 8 months (three times ever).

  • I wonder why. I seriously wonder why. Maybe because it was released a month ago and hasn't been tested. EVER! You are a tester.

  • Because people are treated like Barack Obama. Some people think he's the one (cough, cough) and some people think that Windows 7 is better than Vista already.

  • Its a beta, its bound to crash.

  • Windows 7 looks great! I'm looking forward to buying that when it comes out! and get rid of my Vista (though I don't have that much problems with it :P) lol I need to try the beta xD

  • Let's hope that it doesn't cost $400.

  • We'll E ya later xD

  • So Microsoft finally changed the Task Manager? About time!

  • I guess win7 is really looking good (that is as apposed to vista). See the way i see it is that it is all these small little things that create the overall OS and make it what it is.

On a similar note i would like to see a little more eyecandy added to the OS, maybe a toned down version of longhorn. Although in the end i suppose the only thing that windows users are holding their breath for is some god damn decent driver support.

Nice vid Chris, a preview of Microsoft's next contraption :P

  • Another reason to get Windows 7 on the first day of release!

  • WIndows 7 might be like every other OS. It's probable gonna suck until a service pack comes out. It took windows XP two service packs stay stable....

  • Can't wait for Windows 7 ^_^

  • i still love mac more!

  • eww

  • that means i like mac more than pc you retard

  • Of course you do! But some people have to use Windows, so Windows 7 is great news for those people.

  • Hey pirillo, whats your computer configuration ?

  • Great Video Chris! I can't seem to find a way to dual boot windows 7

  • just install it, but you will need to create a separate partition for it on your drive in another OS.

  • Just run it in a virtual machine.
