This is probably considered to be a minor Dylan composition, but from the first time I heard it about 15 yrs ago or so it has been my favorite.  The timing, orchestration, percussion, illusive lyrics are hypnotic to me. A masterpiece. As the video hints, I think it is about his life.

It's almost unfair how much better Dylan is than any other songwriter of the past 50 years. I think Dylan used to drive John Lennon crazy. Lennon could beat everyone-- except Dylan. I'm sure Lennon had a heart attack when he first heard "Subterranean Homesick Blues."

This is odd. I've just rewatched (about 5th time) the movie "I'm not There" (about Dylan) and almost every clip in this video has been portrayed in the movie.
