  • Thats quite bad a cheap r32 nissan skyline is faster. It can do it in 4.0 sec

  • @gibrate1 What's your point? Yes, there are cars faster than the 911 Carrera. Post any video you want about your car going zero to 60 and I could always say something like "yeah, but ______ is faster!" So what? This video wasn't meant to be a comparison between different cars. Your comment doesn't really serve a point.

  • sweet sound!

  • Is this the 3.2 300HP, Manual or tiptronic ? thinking of buying this car my self.

  • @CrimesSucks Sorry for the delay! It's a tiptronic. I like the idea of manual, but since I can't afford the $80,000 for a brand new 911, and decided to get a used one, it happened to be a tiptronic. It was still incredibly fun to drive. About 90% of the time I was in "manual" mode anyway, and shifted using those little switches on the steering wheel.

  • This is a boxter

  • @dani75492 No, it's not. I owned it for years. It's a 2001 Porsche Carrera 996 Cabriolet. The 996 was the specific designation for the Porsche 911 models that were produced between 1998 and 2005 (when they came out with the 997, the newer version of the 911). Feel free to do a Google image search for "2001 porsche 996 cabriolet" and compare it to the side-view of the car at 0:10 sec into the video; they're the same. Also, you misspelled "Boxster."

  • @swordsman468 OK I see. Thx. I thought the early models look very much the same.

  • thank u im thinkin of buying this lol

  • @Camaromandave98 Thanks Dave. Driving the Porsche is as fun as the E-ticket at Disneyland! My car is fast, but at 296 horsepower and 258 lbs.-ft. of torque, there are cars that have more powerful engines and are faster in a straight line, so in a drag race a big block Camaro might take me! The overall driving experience of a Porsche is amazing though. Cheers!

  • @swordsman468: Thanks for all your feedback, it's been helpful! I drive my new jewel with a grin plastered to my face! Watching videos like the one you put up on the Porsche helped my with my decision to get a Carrera, it gave me somewhat of a feel for the car!

  • Yo, I hope you never forget how lucky you are, you bastard :-)

Some of us will only dream of sitting in a car like this for the rest of our lives.

Drive safe and don't do anything stupid. Peace.

  • @spacyfoil Believe me, I am very fortunate to be behind the wheel of this car. I've waited over 50 years for my dream to happen. I am also not unaware of what happens to people when they fool around and try to push the limits of their high powered sports cars. Appreciate your post, it never hurts to be reminded to be greatful for what I have and to be reminded to drive safely, for most of us, driving is the most dangerous thing we do.

  • @swordsman468: Thanks. I just purchased a 996 manual trans. I don't know if it's me, but the clutch seems stiff, is that par for the course on Porsches? Luv it though! What a car! I don't drive a whole lot, so I hope my upkeep isn't THAT high, but I can't keep my hands off it!

  • @69FOSTER Congrats on your purchase! From my very limited experience, I would say that a lot of things about Porsche can be expected to be stiffer than what you'll find in other cars: the suspension, the steering, the clutch. I think a lot of it seems to be from their goal to build a car that was meant to perform as a racing machine, not just a daily driver. I never completely stretched its limits, but the cornering and acceleration were both better than any other car I ever owned. Enjoy!

  • Thanks for the vid. I'm thinking of buying a used Porsche 996. Does the 996 Porsche have most of its power between 3000 and 5000 RPM?

  • @69FOSTER Sorry for the delayed response. I'm taking full-time classes and for a while I forgot I had a youtube account lol. Anyway, I'd say the power band is between 4 and 6000. That's just my estimate from driving it. The engine revs high (I believe the redline is right at 7200), and it had to be high to get that serious acceleration. The good news is that it can reach that power band even in 4th and 5th gear, so you can still experience the "pinned to your seat" feeling at over 90.

  • @69FOSTER A few other things... the most common 996's were tiptronic (automatic with manual shifters on the steering wheel), so if you wanted the old fashion stick shift, they're harder to find. The other thing to keep in mind is operating cost. Tires wear out quickly and cost a lot (same with brakes). Between engine service and regular upkeep, I was still spending $4-5 thousand a year to keep driving the car, even AFTER the car was paid off. Just something to keep in mind for your budget.

  • Hey guys, just having some fun on a sunny afternoon. I don't have a big Youtube following, so I'm not sure who will ever see this, but there you have it! Take care!
