This movie despite being sick was quite succesful in box office, but what followed after it(Getting even with Dad, Pagemaster and Richie Rich) had low success, so my guess would be the parents or even the children lost their trust in Culkin's entertainement because of it and very few watched his following movies then. In other words, this movie must have ruined Culkin's popularity as a child and thus must be responsible for Culkin's long absence after Richie Rich.
I'm sure the majority of people here like this film and disagree with me and it is absolutely your right to do both those things. What I'm giving here is my opinion, which I'm entitled to give, just as much as you are. We'll simply have to agree to disagree.
I don't like Culkin here, not like I like him anywhere else, but not here especially. It's not just him, I dislike this film in general. I like what they were trying to do - a sociopathic, murderous child threatening his family. But the key is execution, and they did not execute it well here. My main problems with this film - hammy acting from Culkin, unrealistic characters, bizzare plotpoints (-Mr Highway-), and the fact that the adults are too stupid to see that Culkin's character is evil.

She was looking all over for it and the last place she expected to find it was in Henry's shed. It was then that she realized Richard's death was murder.

At the end I know for a fact that Wendy Crewson actually did crawl her way back up the cliff with the help of a harness and did her own stunts here...guess the Good Son won and the bad son went down on the rocks.

@NicKarnak1987 i could understand. but henry was just a child. he needt to fixed, not killed. i didnt say the woman choose wrong person. but it is still hard and touching. if she would choose her own son, again and still i would not to angry with her. henry can be clever. but he is an age that cant understand the evil things. he is just wanting love of her mom. when he decided to kill her, he was crying. cauze he thought she trusted mark instead of him..

Henry's a psychopath. He never intended to kill himself at the cliffs. He simply manipulated his mother into falling into his trap.
People often confuse psychotic with psychopathic. Psychotic is when you drown your little brother because you believe he's the Antichrist out to enslave humanity. Psychopathic is when you drown your little brother because he's taken your favorite toy. And you cannot feel remorse for doing so.

@1mnmfan It went missing on the night Richard's drowning. When she left him alone in the bath it was there, and when she came back and found him dead, it was gone. She was looking all over for it and the last place she expected to find it was in Henry's shed. It was then that she realized Richard's death was murder.

You know his character is a sociopath that can never be cured? Aside from that her dead sister's son, her nephew just saved her from her own mentally sick son who killed her baby boy and many other people. A normal person of feelings would do what she did. You would betray the one that saves you over the one that just tried to kill just because you gave birth to him? I dont think you have to birth a boy to love him as your son so she can adopt her nephew if she needs a son that bad.
