@ShamonWhoo One of the best books I have ever read regarding the death industry in general was Death's Acre by Dr. Bill Bass. It discusses how the infamous Body Farm was created.
Hey there! I love your videos. I have been contemplating going to mortuary school for about seven years now. The closest one to me is Mid-America in Indiana. Your videos have really gave me a lot of enlightenment, and I just wanted to say thank you.
Heyy Guys!I am NOT spamming for myself!Lots of people say they really want to get smaller channels noticed.I am here to tell you about a channel called "thecampingrusher".He does a minecraft series, Pretty much we the viewers choose what he builds and if he chooses our idea then we get a shout out so it benefits him and us!He also makes some amazing things! All you have to do is type in"thecampingrusher"in the search bar at the top of your screen! It will only take 2 seconds.Fuck Sopa:)
This is absolutely fantastic! I saw one of your videos on Neatorama and am in the process of watching the others. I personally respect the fact that you are talking about death and what happens after we die; it's something people should want to be comfortable with, at least a little bit. Like my Aunt and I always say, 'No one gets out alive.'
Five minutes vid and I laughed and I had fun and I learned something new! (not just talking about the chocolate cake, btw). So I'd say... pretty damn nice vid!
i would really love to talk to you! after watching your videos i feel more comfortable about going to mortuary science school. still doesnt help that we cant talk, i really would love to ask you questions that the local funeral embalmers/directors would not take the time nor interest in answering. im 26 yr old female in boondox tennessee so please dont think im some obsessed stalker fan lol. i take this super serious and i think u can really help me!
Do you think keeping an urn of a family member in your home is disrespectful and/or creepy? My bf finds the idea both selfish and repulsive to keep an urn of someone or a pet in your home on a shelf as an 'ornament'. I tried to explain to him why people do it, but he just views it as selfishness. I think it's just a difference in culture that is not right or wrong compared to another. What is your opinion?
Hey, you mentioned 'natural burial.' What exactly is that? I would like to be just thrown into the ground, no coffin, no alteration, but I was under the impression that this was illegal. Is it, or no? o.O
In a perfect world, I'd like to just be taken out into the forest and left out in the sun. Whatever wants to come eat me can. :D Which I'm even more sure is illegal. Eh.

Hey, I'm a student in mortuary school and I just discovered your videos. I really enjoy how you show that this is an industry where it is best to find humor in death because the job can really be stressful. Thanks so much for uploading! It is a fun way to review!
I seen you had cremated your kitty in a earlier episode. ( sorry by the way ) I was wondering. When people have their pets cremated, do they take it to the same place as one would take humans to? I know for a certain fact that none of the vets around my area in Arkansas have a crematory in the back for fido or fluffy.
I haven't gotten this answer from any of the morticians that I've asked except "we dispose of it properly"...my question is: what happens to the blood from corpses after it is drained?
You mentioned in a former video a "director of death and society". Would one have to go to a specialised college to study death in more general terms than being a mortician?
And what sort of options does one in the death industry have in terms of work and the academic needs for such?
My one thought on the 'graininess' of the cake with fake remains in it is to super grind the remains even more with a mortar and pestle. It'd be a lot of work to get it fine enough, but, if someone was ultra-serious about doing this, it'd create a better end product.
You mentioned home burials, something I'm interested in. What are the laws and restrictions regarding that? It probably varies from place to place, but where you live, what do you have to do in order to keep a body in your home for a viewing, funeral, and then burial on your property?
lol lol lol lol lol there are some beautiful videos of children where they are all dressed up etc but very dead sorry i know that sound weird but it shows the love for that child even in death
I am on my way to graduating mortuary school by this coming spring. I am very interested in being apart of home funerals, how do you make that into a career? The literature I have read about the topic makes it seem that their goal is to get further away from the funeral director.
@Chiefenstien It is known as resomation or alkaline hydrolysis and it is basically getting liquified by lye. It seems it is the next big thing since it is greener but there is a lot of debate (as there was when cremation came about.) With time I believe it will be a huge hit!
I love these videos!!! I hear people say, "I want to be buried with an item, like a shoe or something is that legal? Or can you be buried in a casket with someone else?
Question about cremation: When someone dies and the family has a viewing, then that person is cremated, what happens to the coffin? Does it get burned with the person? Thrown away? I know you can't re-sell them or re-use them (any why not, by the way, it's not like the next dead person is going to catch an illness, right?), so what do they do with it?
@LatishaJoneJackson Not the lips themselves, but a lot of morticians will sew up the jaw (mandible, etc). There are definitely more natural ways to go about it, though.
@OrderoftheGoodDeath@LatishaJoneJackson Actually, some funeral parlours still sew lips shut, while the morticians assistant holds the jaw shut the mortician will sew peel out the lips and sew them together further back up towards your teeth, then fold the lips back over and position them to look natural.
Question: I watched a "homicide detective" show where the body was completely sealed and buried, and eventually the organic matter in the body became liquefied. Does this actually happen, or was it just a fictional story device? If it does happen, what do you do with the liquefied remains for the ceremony for either a burial or cremation?
Question: I know that human taxidermy is illegal in the US (excluding the related idea of plasticized remains in museums, like the Bodies exhibit). But I'd like to know more about the history of human taxidermy, as in the preservation, skin and all, of human remains--assuming there is one--and I'm way too lazy to google it when I could just ask you and possibly end up with a charming romp through the annals of human grotesquerie.
Hi! I got to mortuary school in Boston, How can I get into the alternative burial "scene"?? I love the idea of green burials, but thats not really a big thing out here :(
@vdubaful I second this question. I'd really like to know more about the alternative death industry and what options are available if you want your remains to be handled in an environmentally friendly way. I'm assuming being left in the woods for some hungry animals to go to town is not legal.
What's the strangest muscular reaction you've ever witnessed a body go through while you were working on them? A medical student friend of mine was working on a brain-dead patient and experienced the "Lazarus Effect", which freaked her out.
Hi! Can you please talk a bit more about the alternative death industry? I personally would prefer to rot when I go, but didn't even know it was possible to do so in this day and age. I live in NY, do different states have different laws? Thanks!
