Global warming results not from the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, but from an unusually high level of solar radiation and a lengthy almost throughout the last century growth in its intensity...Ascribing 'greenhouse' effect properties to the Earth's atmosphere is not scientifically substantiated...Heated greenhouse gases, which become lighter as a result of expansion, ascend to the atmosphere only to give the absorbed heat away
Change the soceity and things will change. This is a sad attempt to raise awareness. I don't want Green police on my door...I'll tell them to take a hike.
As far as I know, United States is the only country that refers to "Climate Change" as "Global Warming". Such a misnomer confuses and allows those responsible to accept no reponsibility. The climate is changing drastically. You might be becoming warmer or colder, but the climate is changing beyond any natural boundaries.
its not about the politicians doing things, its about everyday people doing things. what if you work 60 kms away cause you cant afford a house in town cause therye so damn expensive, and theres no bus to take into town?
HUH
WHAT ARE U SUPPOSED TO DO THEN?
unless you can change our society, then its not going to change.
The ~60kW generated by the participants is insignificant compared to the effects of long term increases in air temperature.
Saying that their presence "melted the glacier" is a scale error comparable to saying that you shouldn't take a flashlight into a burning building because the waste heat makes the fire worse.
This is a ridiculous waste of time, energies and talent...wait...Tunick has no talent...so it's no waste of talent.
Dali had talent. Velasquez had talent. Goya had talent. Tunick has a movie camera and some sheep who like to take it off. He's only $9.99 away from being as useless as the Girls Gone Wild guy. Call it "Sheeple Gone Wild."
Get People to voluntarily deceive themselves and promote a Lobby that the vary same moment they stand stripped naked on the Glacier drags the carpet right under their feet, with carbon tax and Agenda 21.
Stripped naked. Ha
The Rockefellers and Rothschilds are having a good laugh at it over a Bottle of Lafitte.
what did you accomplish? did you make a change or did you make a statement? did you influence policy or did you make sure that everyone knows you care?
If it hadn't been for the installation, we would have never seen the beautiful landscape of the glaciers and of Switzerland in general, hope it will never change, and the glaciers will remain forever.
So thank you Greenpeace and Spencer Tunick very much
Me and my boyfriend came from Mallorca, Spain and we thought it was the most incredible thing we've ever done.
Though everybody spoke diferent languages, when we were all naked in front of the wild nature, we felt a feeling of union among all the people who were there.
But don't you know that your little event there has actually hurt your cause to save the glaciers?
For starters, we are warm-blooded creatures that generate our own heat and that heat gets released into the environment. Your combined body heat has actually contributed to the glacier's melting.
What I'm saying is that your very presence there has melted the glacier even further than if you had left it alone.
This is awesome - and after seeing the glaciers in Alaska this summer, I have a new found respect for these beautiful and important pieces of nature and history. Thank you for posting this!
To anyone who still ignorantly or blindly believes that current global warming is not exacerbated and in many ways caused by human activity, I suggest you read specific and detailed books like The Empty Tank by Jeremy Legget; and check out climate science from climate scientists at the realclimate dot org website, search for "human impact" and read in particular the June 7, 2007, report on Cockburn's Form.
How wonderful. How brave of the volonteers, how good they all came. To be naked does not meen to be pornocraphic at all. Greenpeace, go for it! Great art, video, music.
I was there and am still thrumming with the experience. The energy we all created was simply amazing, the respect everyone showed everyone else was uplifting. It was hard work, but as Spencer said, I think we made history last Saturday. Thank you, Greenpeace, thank you, Spencer Tunick, for an unforgettable day!
The song is "Mjandrio" by Stimmhorn in case anyone's curious.
