I agree with donttry101 because a large chunk of the filming was done in Morocco and all those maids in the house were real Arabic women, but the roles of the main characters were played by Brasilians. God, I love this show...it truly changed my life. Everyday I think about it and listen to its breathtakingly beautiful music arranged by Marcus Viana. The man is a genius!
And I don't doubt that, because most of the Mouzayek repertoire includes re-making famous old Arabic songs. I was referring to this particular version of the song and indeed it is performed by the Mouzayek Arab Ensemble. Thank you for your input though.

this song is a lot older than The Mouzayek band. it is a classical arabic song by an arab singer named Fareed Atrach.
