If anyone's curious, the actor's name is Larry Rew, he's got a page on IMDb but this game's mis-attributed - site says he played "Komissar Holt" in Warhammer 40,000 Chaos Gate. Then again, I never played Chaos Gate to maybe Holt's in it, too.

That's why commisars often keep a compact las as an alternate weapon, as well as it being far lighter and less bulky than say a bolter.

Set in the 40k 'verse and largely based off the spin off table top game "Epic 40,000". Its a pretty good game for it time.

Laspistols and Lasguns are actually really effective weapons against other humans and the myriad of beasts that rampage around in the 40k galaxy.

It's just that when you stick the Lasweapons against the major 40k factions and eldrich beasts that can dance toe to toe with Space Marines you find their effectiveness obviously goes down. Dark Heresy has Fallouty death examples when you're hit by a Las, get hit in the brain and it ignites while your head is ripped off your neck. He should be afraid.

They are NOT in control of the Adeptus Mechanicus, Space Marines, and a few other administrations

Adeptus Mechanicus don't worship the emperor, same with Space Marines...they view him as a prophet, and less like a god

Space Marines have Chaplains to tend to their loyalty, and Chaplains are less likely to jump to the gun over loyalty issues

@yoda2287 Actually, the weakest gun in the game is the Grot Blaster for orks and there used to be rules in the game for muskets and bows.

Las-weapons are not the weakest in the game, but they are nothing to write home about when compared to other weapons. That said, open up a volley of about 40-50 of them, combined with Officer's orders like "First Rank Fire, Second Rank Fire" and they can lay down an obscene ammount of fire.

@ Henners - As far as the game itself is concerned, Holt does not shoot Petchenka. He relieves him of command. Holt gains a few new Imperial Guard regiments, and continues the war. Petchenka is not killed, but he does disappear from the game.

the troops are what make the Guard they are its core componant, without the troops who is there to drive the tanks? or to act as meatshields for said tanks? the commisars just enforce and keep the Imperial creed fresh in thier mind with beatings and executions and the fear of the Emperor's Wraith to keep the loyalty, its harsh and cruel and almost downright evil, but if it works then stick to it, sides Humanity is barely fending off extinction, but it is fending it off, so whatever it takes.
