  • Where is this? I didn't know of any Leopard seals in captivity that were that large and trained....that trainer has got balls to stand that close to the water.

    Cool upload.

  • i think theyr quite scary...dont wanna meet one in the nature.

  • I never thought I'd see a leopard seal jumping on cue. Very cool.

  • they have something about them that just looks freaky. especially when u can see this dark shape in the water. they are scary but sweet.

  • lol what do you mean how did they catch a leopard seal...they catch sharks, killer whales, all the above. what's so surprising about this.

  • Leopard seal is my favorite seals and one of my favorite mammals. Looks so cool.

  • From what zoo was this video shot? I mean that's pretty impressive to "train" a leopard seal.

  • dude who knew they could be tamed

  • Ummm. I'd use the word 'tamed' quite loosely when it comes to Leopard Seals!

  • @feesha88 Just one step closer to WORLD DOMINATION

  • the more i see this video it is a leopard seal and you can tell by its snake like body and its head reptilian like. A perfect hunting machine and only the killer whale as its threat.

  • if this is a leopard seal.how did they get it and are there any other aquariums in the world that have them. I've read and seen documentries on these seals and being the most aggresive and voracious of all seals how did they train it?

  • i dont know i am as amazed as you this being one of the most viscous animals in the artic

  • Antarctic only.

  • You can train any animal that has an appetite.

    Control? No.

    Train? Yes.

Does that mean they will always listen to you?

    No.

  • i know brooke(the leopard seal)

  • what is the size of it in meters?

    How big do they get?

  • I think they grow to be 10-14 ft. :D

  • Its definitely a leopard seal.

Sea lions have different rear flippers and coat patters.

The size of this animal gives it away as well.

  • This is the leopard seal at the Taronga zoo, like psychosteve said. :)

  • Leopard seals are true seals but they have a similar body shape to sea lions and move the same way

I didn't know you could train these things, I'd figure they'd be too aggressive

  • now I know its a Weddell Seal .???

  • Looks like you need some help with your seal identification!! ITS A LEOPARD SEAL.

  • hahahahahahaha!

  • what thats it eat..??and could you swim with it.?

  • They have a diet mainly consisting of krill but they also eat penguins and a few types of other seals.

  • its a sea lion

  • No sorry. Its actually a 300kg Leopard Seal.

  • thats not a lepord seal.

  • What do you think it is?

  • Hey thats a really cool video! That looks like a leopard seal to me, cos it's a true seal so it can't be a sea lion. Looks like Taronga Zoo too...

  • I can tell this is not a leopard seal. Seals are really my life. The only seals that I know of performing or getting trained are sea lions. A leopard seal also does not have back fins/ a tail like that. But I think that it could be a se lion ...maybe ^_^

  • That's not a sea lion. I've seen hundreds of sea lions in Oregon and Alaska. The head on that animal is different (no ears, wolfish profile, bigger jaws), and it appears to be a leopard seal to me. I sure wouldn't be in that pool with it!

  • Leopard Seals looks great and they are really cool! Love them for who they are! Not as pussy as other seals.

  • Leopard seals look and act way more reptilian than mammalian. They're ruthless

  • not that im a seal expert but i have seen them before on film and that thing has the same evil head shape

  • Fantastic video! And according to my brother-in-law - a marine mammal specialist - this is definitely a Leopard Seal, and a very clever one!

  • that was crap ive seen way higher jumps at australia zoo

  • Not by a Leopard Seal!!

  • That isn't a leopard seal.

  • Sorry, what do you think it is??

  • It's a Sea Lion. Leopard seals are mottled grey in colour, have broader heads and they're not kept to perform in shows as they are potentially very dangerous, (one fatal attack and many other documented 'infringements' with divers). They also grow to around three metres and weigh about 320Kg at this size; scary creaturs! I'd love to see one doing tricks, but they're only kept in zoo's to be looked at. Cool vid though.

  • Interesting. I'd love to know where you got your information from? Do you have any experience with seals? I'm pretty sure this is a Leopard Seal!

  • I searched the net for information on Leopard Seals performing in shows and found nothing except they are sometimes kept in zoos for public viewing. Don't think I'm having a go or being obnoxious, like the majority of people on here; I just didn't think it was but if it is, then great.
