shit...i love em..100 miles is a good range but 100 or 250 would be AMAZING! Range is the only problem..and i like how the 3rd and 4th cars look normal and not like some space ship! if only the range was bigger...i a line of 3 electric cars that got a range of 200 miles the other day!
It looks great! (If i look more at it. It started to look like an Aston DBS. Which is a great looking car. The grill, headlights, & those side vents on the bumper)
& Those green lines. If it's in black imma be happy. :D
the earth faces a difficult future 1 global warming is a fact 2 fossil fuels aren't renewable and cars like the Karin dilettante don't do that good because hybrids still run on gas which comes from oil the developed world can't survive without automobiles but we cant depend on fossil fuels IMV we need to find a solution and Renault has found it
These cars are kind of ugly aren't they? Still better than a beautiful car on gas, but still, why didn't they bother to make it more beautiful? I wouldn't want to be seen in that!
How can it be zero emission we still have coal and gas power stations imagine 20 million of these charging up on a winters night in the uk.. BLACKOUT...
@Archimedes555453525 In the UK because of bad governments we are running short of electricity nuclear power stations are needed they are years off .Im 62 and have seen all this before with electric cars.Bet you in ten years it will be the same as now.Until the oil runs out there will be not much change
@bmwnasher - Yes, unless each house and/or car would produce its own electricity. If that were the case, nuclear power plants would be obsolete. Have you ever heard of the SEG (Searl Effect Generator)? It is said to be a generator which requires a small current, but gives a huge amount in return. There is much scepticism about the concept, hardly surprising because it's as if it produces energy. But it uses the energy stored inside the magnets. Have a look, you might be interested
@Archimedes555453525 Just read up on the searl generator the inventor lived in Crawley road London N22 about a 20 min walk from where i live Funny that. It will take something like that to revolutionise the way we get our power. We have been so reliant on the black stuff. I use a small solar panel to keep batteries charged up works a treat. What they need is to develop a very high powered solar panel
THE TWIZY NEEDS REAL LIGHT WEIGHT DOORS !! OTHER THAN THAT WELL DONE RENAULT !! IT IS ABOUT TIME YOU JOINED MITSUBISHI ( I MIEV ) AND NISSAN ( LEAF ) !! MORE EV CARS BY THE MILLIONS !!
Wind and solar power(current technology) will not be enough, what then ? choose, nuclear plants or fossil fuel powered power plants ? We will need to spend much more fuel to charge these cars, since burning fuel and converting it to electricity, transporting it all mean losing significant part of it. I think this is ridiculous until solar cells gets advanced enough.
Strange... Some years ago when SUV's were becoming mainstream, many concerned citizens echoed the importance of the Kyoto-protocol and complained about the environmental impact. Many rich and powerful figures from the U.S. in particular evaded these concerns with the excuse that the "U.S. economy" is more important than a clean livable environment.
I want to change my car but I am waiting until these come out, I hope I never have to buy another gas powered car. Problem is though, I live in an apartment and use public parking. Where will I charge the battery?
@coolhand67 that's a problem. if you have underground parking there may be a way to plug in an outlet. but your landlord may not like you tapping the electricity of the complex. eventually there will be public recharging outlets but these will only work for you during the day. Infrastructure needs to be sorted out. Nissan will launch its Leaf in the Fall and GM will intro the Volt. It's started.
That's my man Calos Ghosn, the guy who rescued Renault and Nissan from collapse to being one of the biggest car makers. This is the kind of guy Chrysler needs.
so instead of huge oil companies we'll now have big electric companies; so, the system of big corporations will continue to flourish. Is that a good thing? what the world really needs is "free" energy. The "better place" concept is a good swap (clean electric over oil,) but in the end, the "new" market will still eat your pocketbook, over a lifetime. Nevertheless, it seems like a preferable replacement compared to the dismal conditions that the oil economic system has gruesomely created.
OK folks, This IS what WILL happen. The US Federal GOVT will determine (without the help of an engineer or economist) a mileage equivalent to tax these wonderful vehicles on a per mile usage basis, using the data provided from the vehicle itself. As much as I fear and dislike the FEDS coercive powers, the infrastructure has to be paid for. I am surprised the FED and STATE hasn't already handed down a reg. already. The "better Place" is an outstanding concept. I hope it is left alone 2 flourish.
You're right, it's clear that in order to have the financial resources to convert to electric vehicles all countries will have to provide subsidies for the purchasers, the car companies and suppliers to develop the vehicle and for the charging infrastructure. But will probably have to create tax disincentives to compel people to give up their gasoline or diesel powered cars too. It's the reality of the situation. But cars are only one part of the solution. Mass transits too.
I sat tax all entertainment items like tv's i pods computers, game systems, internet, cabel, bacicaly things we can live with out but nobody is goin to stop buying it after enough revinue is made they offer major tax refunds after you buy an electrictric car.
The best way to get electric cars on the road is to increase the gas tax! Make gas cost what it should, instead of hiding the costs in our taxes (giving big oil tax rebates, funding a war, paying for drilling, paying of Saudi officials all to keep the prices down). Where is the money coming from? Taxes and everyone pays this not just the people using gas who are polluting the air and raising the temp of the planet.
@notmycupotea TRUE. TRUE. but, can we wait until i get out of college and get a job so i can then just afford to convert? if you do this right now, you will bankrupt me entirly.....and then you will never have me convert to anything but the streets lol. i can barly afford the gas and driving distance now, no way to pay for conversion. give me two to four years, when i will hopefully by my first new car, hopefully all electric. :)
avesome! i dont care whos to blame about the "globba wobba"...all i care is about my pocket! And if it turns out that having an electric car is good for my pocket...i might consider buying one. And if its good for the climate...thats only a plus.
I agree it's not a scam and that there are non man made factors entailed in the climate change process but the over all preponderance of evidence suggests that the steady increase in temperature is due to human influences. The biggest factor in climate change is the burning of carbon based fuels that create CO2 which creates a shield that traps heat and thus warms the planet. Transportation (petroleum) and electricity/industry (coal) are largely responsible for these emissions.
@morda8 nature is not cutting down the rain forest. Nature is not filling our highways with autos. Nature is not cutting away our mountain tops. Nature is not burning coal.
what u dont understand is that oil was created by nature and used to be the co2 in our atmosphere what ever fossil fuels man is burning used to be in the atmosphere anyways so global warming is not man made it might be a little accelerated by man but its a natural process.
they certainly hated the EV1. and some of the 90's lelctric cars. and they had the money to get rid of them. it is really really sad how much money and power the oil companies have.
As for certain comments on this page. It is called progress. Get used to it.
A family car is exactly what they have provided under the definition of a family "car", not an SUV(Chelsea Tractor) or a Minivan(Soccer Mom Space Pod), if that is what you want then just don't comment.
My family car was a VW Scirocco. It suit us, a family of four, just fine in 1974. The two concepts today should suit a family of four just fine also.
Finally cars that actually look futuristic and modern. The whole design is very nice and to be electric is the way of the future well at least until hydrogen fuels become available.
so that new advert that they made saying that in 2010 they will be bringing out new full electric cars, well thats rubish. because there going to come out in 2011 and 2012
Im so glad over this Im ready to preorder IF it only were possible. I signed up to get news on this at renaults homepage. I hope to hear something soon.
This is the first major manufacturer to commit to a whole range production of EV. HOORAY. Perhaps we have finally seen the change begin? Can we save some of the future?
It's probably the materials they're made out of. I been seeing more composite materials used instead of alloys and other metals in production in various things lately.
