It covers an April 2001 DoD symposium, and presents 2 different processes for making nano-thermite. The sol-gel method seems to be the best fit for the red/gray chips and is relatively cheap, easy, and safe to make in large quantities.
Much more detail on sol-gel nano-thermite can be found in "Making Nanostructured Pyrotechnics in a Beaker" from LLNL, 2000.
I have been interested in Pyrotechnics and blasting since being a kid, sadly 2001 has made it all a bit sinister. I wanted to be a scientist, physics especially, but never had the grades, I do a lot of science as a hobby. Part of a scientific approach is to see is you can reproduce the experiment. I have spent a great deal of time on that one, but still come up inconclusive, bottom line is to run a live simulation, its pretty easy to build a concrete, steel model and get the Jet fuel ect, i would do it myself if I had the time.

I don't know if its true or not as it was on yt, but a thermite demo was planned and apparently had a budget of $20k (sounds a bit high to me) by the 911 truth movement, the money would be much better spent doing proper science, build a scal model, fill it with temp and presure probes ect, run the tests, collect and analyise the data. I'm sure even some debunkers would be happy to assist with technical imput, to get a proper test

Essentially the theory is that the charges would be placed at the transition from box beams to I-beams along each core column, it solves the shielding problem, the vertical cutting problem, is accessible trough the lift shafts and is supported through visual evidence of the actual collapse phenomenon.
It has the internal consistency that the fire-induced-failure theory lacks.
That is precisely the problem that that setup solves. In that arrangement any explosives can be kept well away from fire or debris and could even very easily be shielded from any heat.

The other issue with his claim is that he is talking about Iron micropheres, this means that Iron Oxide thermite is his claim not Nano Super thermite, which has Copper Oxide, leaving copper trace. Normal thermite just drips hot iron downwoods under gravity, used to join railway. NEW experimental nano Super thermite is classed as explosive (the other only insendiary) firstly is very new and uses copper oxide super fine particles to increase thermic transfer during reaction.

Skeptic, I am not a chemist but I have always had an interest in blasting and special effects, from what I can gather thermite with copper oxide has far greater flame speed and could be used as an explosive where as iron oxide thermite can't, it simply drips iron, is very difficult to manage and can't be used to cut sideways threw a beam, the cut beams in loose change hace been cut by iron workers with oxy or plasma

Lets do some VERY BASIC fire physics for those of you that can't grasp it.
Fire is three things, Heat, Fuel, Oxygen
the ratio of each of these items to the other will completly change the nature and temperature of the fire, this obviously includes the max temperature achieved and what kind of smoke is made and the colour of the flame.
Truthers always claim these temps, yet it is not that simple, due to what is called the Fire Triangle.
Jet fuel depending on its temperature can be used to put out a fire! or spontaniously combust WITHOUT an ignition source, all just by changing its temperature.
The flame inside a jet engine is so hot it will burn a hole straight threw the side of the engines combustion chamber if allowed to do so!
We prevent this by keeping the amount of fuel to a minimum and by having a special swirling air blacket down the inside of the chamber, so the flame never touches the wall.
If you have a failure in a fuel boost pump that causes to much fuel to enter the chamber, the flame will propogate threw the air blanket and quickly burn right threw the wall, flames will allso leave the chamber and start out the exaust (you will note a modern jet airliner NEVER has flame comming out the back of the engine) this flame will over temperature the Titanium alloy blades and cause them to expand (creep), then they will start to cut into the outer casing
this will eventually cause one or more of the blades to brake its mount and fly off, causing a catastrphic failure of the engine, this is actually simulated during new engine designe and is called a "blade off event" .
By going to any flight engineer text book or speaking to one in person all of these statements can be varified.
In my favorates there are several engine tests like this as well as other related videos.

I have a problem with you not understanding the difference between adiabatic temperature, a furnace, a fire in an enclosed space, and an open flame.
You don't seem to understand that fire temperature does not directly correlate to the temperature of materials in the fire and do not seem to to be able to comprehend how something can be shielded from shock and fire through the use of ceramics and simple shock absorbers. Think space shuttles.

Jones enjoys a presenting a good argument to intelligent people. Presenting my own discovery to people who appreciate it was one of the most intense feelings I ever experienced. I mean, it's funny that fireproof paint ignites at such a low temperature...which is why I don't think this material was ever sold as a paint, let alone a fireproof paint. Product liability lawyers would certainly bankrupt any company that sold it. Even if it did NOT cause a fire, they would sue for the cost of cleaning it out of places where it had been used, just like asbestos. I am serious; lawyers have ruined companies for much, much less.

I appreciate your candor. The paper I was quoting is "Nanoenergetics: An Emerging Technology Area of National Importance"
It covers an April 2001 DoD symposium, and presents 2 different processes for making nano-thermite. The sol-gel method seems to be the best fit for the red/gray chips and is relatively cheap, easy, and safe to make in large quantities.
Much more detail on sol-gel nano-thermite can be found in "Making Nanostructured Pyrotechnics in a Beaker" from LLNL, 2000.

As a kid i was pretty advanced in making electric dets, small charges for assaulting ant hills (poor ants) my old man was an explosives instructor in the scotish army, so I grew up understang it, after Korea he became very pro diplomacy and anti war.
i think the main thing that sticks in my mind is how would you shield an explosive from a fire.

It's hard to know exactly how the nano-thermite was used. But in general, it's a very stable substance.
Los Alamos Nat'l Labs says "Super-Thermite electric matches produce no toxic lead smoke and are safer to use because they resist friction, IMPACT, HEAT, and static discharge through the composition, thereby minimizing accidental ignition." and they list several different uses including "triggering explosives for the mining, DEMOLITION, and defense industries" (emphasis added)

I wanted to be a scientist, physics especially, but never had the grades, I do a lot of science as a hobby. Part of a scientific approach is to see is you can reproduce the experiment. I have spent a great deal of time on that one, but still come up inconclusive, bottom line is to run a live simulation, its pretty easy to build a concrete, steel model and get the Jet fuel ect, i would do it myself if I had the time.

I don't know if its true or not as it was on yt, but a thermite demo was planned and apparently had a budget of $20k (sounds a bit high to me) by the 911 truth movement, the money would be much better spent doing proper science, build a scal model, fill it with temp and presure probes ect, run the tests, collect and analyise the data. I'm sure even some debunkers would be happy to assist with technical imput, to get a proper test

Essentially the theory is that the charges would be placed at the transition from box beams to I-beams along each core column, it solves the shielding problem, the vertical cutting problem, is accessible trough the lift shafts and is supported through visual evidence of the actual collapse phenomenon.
It has the internal consistency that the fire-induced-failure theory lacks.

The OFFICIAL account (not truthers mind you) has the fuel burnt off almost instantaneously as reason would suppose, after that it was normal office fires.

The other issue with his claim is that he is talking about Iron micropheres, this means that Iron Oxide thermite is his claim not Nano Super thermite, which has Copper Oxide, leaving copper trace. Normal thermite just drips hot iron downwoods under gravity, used to join railway. NEW experimental nano Super thermite is classed as explosive (the other only insendiary) firstly is very new and uses copper oxide super fine particles to increase thermic transfer during reaction.

Skeptic, I am not a chemist but I have always had an interest in blasting and special effects, from what I can gather thermite with copper oxide has far greater flame speed and could be used as an explosive where as iron oxide thermite can't, it simply drips iron, is very difficult to manage and can't be used to cut sideways threw a beam, the cut beams in loose change hace been cut by iron workers with oxy or plasma

Fire is three things, Heat, Fuel, Oxygen
the ratio of each of these items to the other will completly change the nature and temperature of the fire, this obviously includes the max temperature achieved and what kind of smoke is made and the colour of the flame.
Truthers always claim these temps, yet it is not that simple, due to what is called the Fire Triangle.

Jet fuel depending on its temperature can be used to put out a fire! or spontaniously combust WITHOUT an ignition source, all just by changing its temperature.
The flame inside a jet engine is so hot it will burn a hole straight threw the side of the engines combustion chamber if allowed to do so!
We prevent this by keeping the amount of fuel to a minimum and by having a special swirling air blacket down the inside of the chamber, so the flame never touches the wall.

If you have a failure in a fuel boost pump that causes to much fuel to enter the chamber, the flame will propogate threw the air blanket and quickly burn right threw the wall, flames will allso leave the chamber and start out the exaust (you will note a modern jet airliner NEVER has flame comming out the back of the engine) this flame will over temperature the Titanium alloy blades and cause them to expand (creep), then they will start to cut into the outer casing

When human beings started to melt metal for the first time, to make knife blades etc., we did it with fire, using wood as the fuel!
One of my hobbies is old time blacksmithing, we use coke or coal to soften steel into a plastic state all the time.
Jet fuel has many more BTU's (British Thermal Units or energy) than wood, coke or coal !
Chip oil or wax can be used to soften steel. !!!!

I grew up understand a great deal about explosives, comparred to most people. When he retired I got him into competition target shooting as a hobby to add quality to his life. as a result we ended up getting heavily involved with reloading our own ammunition. as previusly stated "Detonators" are extremly volatile if handled incorrectly, this includes high temperatures, and shock. Many people involved with blasting, have almost completly lost a hand from underestimating the instability of a detonator ! the materila used in them is EXTREMLY sensitive !, its the same material used in the base os a .22 rifle round to set the charge off when struck by the pin. Acutally I've read the paper... it isnt paint for several reasons.
1) The ratio of iron oxide to aluminum perfectly matches the 1/3, 2/3 ratio of thermite.
2) There's no zinc.
3) They do not dissolve in paint solvent.
4) The particles are nanosized.
5) They are highly engineered in a bottom up fashion, intimately mixed in a matrix.
6) They are explosive!

Some of them have done thorough chemical analyses and after careful analysis, have ruled out the possibility that these are paint chips. @rappermisha I strongly suggest not dismissing a scientific study of anything under any circumstance. It's highly hypocritical. If you can come up with a likewise scientific inquiry that refutes presence of thermitic residue, that's another matter.
As it stands, Harrit study may not be the most shining example of publication, but it is the ONLY scientific study of anything pertaining to 9/11, period (exc. fire-safety ASTM tests). There's no scientific experiment to support the contrary theory.

That's the key thing is that the "paint" ignites at 450 degrees but it produces iron microspheres which shouldn't form until 1500 degrees... that tells you that during the ignition there is a jump in temperature of at least 1000 degrees... so its not just paint burning, it's a chemical reaction ... an exothermic reaction... It's hard to argue with that really.

thermite cant be used because it cant cut SIDEWAYS through the core columns. gravity pulls DOWNWARDS, this is obvious to even small children. thermite burns through ANYTHING. thats why the only videos of thermite burning things you will find are of thermite sitting ON something, and burning DOWN through it.

cutting a bit of 1/2 inch mild steel rebar?
find some that can cut a 2ft beam. then find some that can cut a few hundred 2ft at the exact same time. then find some that can cut a few hundred 2ft beams a split second later on the next floor down. then do that 80 times, to simulate the towers falling from the impact area, which they clearly did, even steven (space beam) jones agrees they did.
cant be done, im afraid.
all these cutter charges can do is cut a little peice of bar, NOT a core column

His "evidence" of a thermite cutter charge is comical. The thing is huge and cuts a tiny piece of metal. The ones needed to cut the core columns would be the size of dump trucks or bigger.
Simple fact, thermite has never been used in the controlled demolition of a high rise ever in the history of the planet. The fact steel columns weighing several tons were ejected hundreds of feet proves there was no controlled demolition.
