Please, it is NOT "our" religion. We are talking about the Church of Jesus Christ!!!
This is, quite literally, the EXACT same church - that's why we have to say "...of Latter Day Saints", to distinguish today's congregation from the one BEFORE the great apostasy.
The whole point is that this is the one true church endowed by God, His true and pure religion. Sure, others have pieces truth, but now the FULL gospel has been restored!
You don't have to be excluded, that's what the missionaries do
To called2servetoo: Your comment is even more funny than the video. Mormonism is, just like all others but can be proven more easily, a made up faith whose father is Mr. Smith. You obviously don't have access the 'the rest of the picture.' You are a member of a cult, plain and simple.
Disproven? I don't think so. Actually, quite to the contrary, since Joseph Smith Jr. restored the church ("restored", not "made up" because it is the EXACT same church that Jesus Christ established during his ministry here), countless so-called "scholars" and educated men have tried to no avail to destroy it. It can not be disproven, because it is divine, and has been bestowed by God himself.
Yes! Joseph Smith Jr. spoke with him, face to face, in The Sacred Grove near Palmyra New York.
Ditto for Brigham Young, who rivals Moses for the scale of his work. (Moses also spoke to him.)
Ditto for Gordon B. Hinckley, and Thomas S. Monson.
That's the really neat thing! Heavenly Father (God) still speaks to us daily, through his servants, the Prophets! Yes, there has been a living Prophet in the land, ever since 1830. Don't just take my word for it, ask any of our 55,000 missionaries!!!
No drugs here. No alcohol either. Not even coffee or tea, or tobacco! : )
But seriously, you seem like a smart person, and I'm sure you are wondering how I know these things to be true.
1. Pray about it (with a SINCERE heart.) 2. Listen for the answer. (listen CAREFULLY, because the Holy Ghost usually answers as a still, small, voice.)
The Holy Ghost will confirm the truthfulness of these things. You will feel it as a burning in your bosom. The more you focus on it, the stronger it will grow.
One more thing about the Holy Ghost. You have to *want* to hear the answer.
If you don't really want to hear it, you won't be able to get it.
Also, (please don't take this wrong!), a little humility seems to help. When I was on my mission, I found that there was a direct correlation between pride and humility. Usually the more educated one thinks they are, or the more wealthy and successful, the less app they are to receive the gospel.
You know, like Jesus said about the camel and the needle.
Xerock - I appreciate your skeptisism. You would make a great member of the church, if you could just open your mind to the possibility that
1. Heavenly Father loves you, and has a plan for you.
2. He calls Prophets to help us learn of His plan.
3. He loves you some more!!!
Have you ever spoken with our Missionaries? I would exhort you to set up a meeting with them. You seem like a smart person, I bet you can figure out how to contact them!
Yeah, bring me a prophet that says he talks to an invisible cosmic genie and I'll show you a person who talks to himself.
I assure you that being a smart person, I can concoct any number of imaginary friends to share my life with and imagine many wonderful adventures with. I can even imagine they'll offer me posthumous immortality if I sacrifice live chickens to them, but that doesn't make it so.
Just to clarify, God the Father is NOT invisible. (I would have a hard time believing in that, too!)
He has a body made of "Flesh and Bone". (we mortals are made of "Flesh and Blood").
When our living Prophets speak with him, it is face to face, usually in the Holy Temples. They have actually seen him in there!
Please don't sacrifice chickens, God already sacrificed His Only Begotten Son for us, and there should be no more animal sacrifices. (that was "Old Testament").
Animal Sacrifice was commanded of God for His people during Old Testament times to help teach them about the up coming sacrifice of His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ. Once Christ was sacrificed, no more need to teach with animals, as the people of the world can now understand the act itself (since it has come to pass). Lucky for us, and the animals too.
And again, that is why we have Prophets - because our needs change with each generation. Not God's word, but our needs.
Anyone who believes they are talking to some mystical Holy Ghost is really just talking to themselves.
The burning sensation is called serotonin and oxytocin. Your body produces it naturally when you express love and all you're doing is focusing it on an imaginary friend.
Actually, we don't "talk to" the Holy Ghost. We only "talk to" Heavenly Father. He answers us via the Holy Ghost.
As for serotonin and oxytocin, maybe your body is releasing those because of the burning of the Holy Ghost in your bossom. Who knows, this could be the reason that Heavenly Father designed our bodies this way, our built in receivers for him to communicate with us.
Joseph Smith was a con artist (with prior convictions) and you momon droolers lap it up. The reality is, you dumbasses make scientologists look rational by comparison.
i can see now why you are having trouble feeling the spirit. please don't take this as a personal thing, but that kind of language drives the spirit away.
As for Joseph Smith being a con artist (with prior convictions) - i think that is just a common ad hominen attack brought on by anti mormons. if you can't find a single thing wrong with the gospel message or the church, then attack the messenger. (and if you can't find anything wrong with the messenger, make something up, right?)
I've heard of those charges before. Just the fact that Joseph Smith Jr. had so many false charges brought up against him should indicate that there was something special going on. The adversary did everything he could to discredit him, but in the end, Joseph - or actually, I should say God - triumphed.
And we would gladly accept your challenge. Go to the church web site, request the Elders, they will come to your door and put you in your place.
In other words, your faith is too weak to handle the scrutiny in open forum. So you need me to arrange a private meeting with your church so you can remain assured in your silly cult fetish.
Dont feel bad about being shown as a fraud. most religions can't deal with a direct test.
Don't take this wrong, honestly not meant as an insult, but i think that you are the one with weak faith?
i'm not afraid, but the Lord has counciled us not to engage in Bible Bashing, or contests like that. NOT because we are afraid to be "disproved" (you can't disprove something that is true),
but because God said not to test or challenge him, lest ye be cursed. Also, just because there is a trick or something, it might make others who don't no better doubt the veracity of the Gospel.
If you honestly believe you are talking with the one true omnipresent and omnipotent God and you honestly feel that I can't disprove that you are talking with your God, then you have nothing to fear.
Weak faith? are you joking? I have no religious faith. I have interpersonal faith in real people and everyday objects that I have real experiences with. People who claim to talk with Gods or are the messengers of gods and don't show evidence or wont be tested don't qualify as faithful, just foolish
you have faith in real people? Your Heavenly Father is a REAL person. He visits this Earth often in His Temples to talk to His REAL Prophets, in directing His REAL Church.
How can you NOT have Faith in that? He lives! Real, living people are speaking with him, face to face, daily!
Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet. Google him, this is the man who could - if he needed to - actually introduce you to God the Father!!!
I know it. President Monson knows it. And we know that God knows it.
Your invisible sky genie is NOT a real person regardless of how many paintings and statues you make in his Aryan image. He's a figment created to explain WHY before knowing HOW you exist or even if there was a WHO involved.
I easily reject any religious faith as being unnecessary.
If you want to be tested on that assertion that people are talking with your sky genie, I'm ready whenever you are. If you fail, will you be willing to admit that you are just talking with yourself?
I don't understand why you keep calling God a "sky genie".
"Genies" are actual mythology. EVERYBODY agrees on that, right? Just like faries, Zeus, pagan stuff, etc.
Most people can accept that God is NOT mythology. God is real, He works with science and technology to do His work, NOT magic.
That's one reason I think you would feel more comfortable as a Mormon than the other religions, we believe that God uses Intelligence, Science, etc. and not some silly magic!
Your god is NOT real and the mythology that centers around his existence or jesus' existence is no different than the mythology that centers around genies, dragons or other gods.
If you believe God uses science, then why do the mormons strive against homosexual marriage when science shows that homosexuality is indeed biological - not only in humans, but in animals.
No sane person believes in genies, dragons, or the made up gods of the ancient world. But most of the sane people in the world believe in God. (*Real* God).
As for gay marriage, I admit I don't understand the biology part of it. But I think it proves a point, "why we need prophets today"-the questions and issues change.
Our living Prophet is telling us that God wants men to marry women. There are formerly gay men at church who now live happy hetero lives, thanks to the Power of the Priesthood.
What ! How can you compare Zeus and Odin to Jesus Christ?
People saw Jesus Christ, He did miracles, he was crucified and raised from the dead? Lots of people saw Him!
As for the Prophet, he has actually SEEN Jesus Christ and God the Father with his own eyes! All of the modern prophets have. What possible motive would they have to lie about something like that?
Could so many millions of people keep a conspiracy? I don't think so.
Besides, not just the Prophets, but the apostles, too.
Let's get the mythology straight. I compare Zeus and Odin to your God. I compare Hercules and Perseus to Jesus Christ.
The myths said that people interacted with Hercules and Perseus and they did miracles too, it doesn't validate their existence.
Your mythology is easy to maintain. Your prophet lies about seeing God and the followers swallow it because you think that you will be cursed if you question it.
That's not conspiracy. That's a con job. And conning millions is not difficult.
But the mythology tells of people interacting with Hercules and Perseus. In the case of Jesus Christ, there were thousand of people who actually interacted with him.
I don't know of any such historical record of people witnessing an actual Hercules or Perseus walking around doing miracles.
Surely you aren't saying that Jesus Christ is just a fictional character?
Jesus apparently died after being tried by the Jewish courts - except no record of this trial exists. Only one case comes close - Yeshu who was sentenced 100 years before Christ supposedly was.
Only one person on record saw Christ rise and that was Paul of Tarsus, who claimed to be a member of some Hebrew court that persecuted christians - except no jewish document can confirm this. He claims over 500 people saw this act, yet none of their names have ever been given.
The time frame could easily be off. I have always heard it was supposed to be plus or minus 100 years.
Paul saw Christ. What about Peter, James, & John? Mary? Mathew and Mark and Luke? They obviously lived with Christ, they all wrote similiar accounts of His life.
I'll confess, there is one *teensi* , *weensi* little problem in the Gospels that I struggle to understand. That would be the fact that after Christ was resurrected, it says that the graves yeilded up their dead, and (cont...)
the dead are resurrected and walking around interacting with people. That seems like it would be a pretty big deal. I would suspect that if hundreds of dead people suddenly stepped out of their graves, there should be tons and tons of evidence and references to that.
So either this is one of the errors that Joseph Smith warned us about in the translations of the Bible, or,well the other option is unthinkable.
Or maybe it was a Sacred thing, commanded not to be recorded, like the Temple. idk.
Possibly, all the records were destroyed as a test of faith (all though I can guess what your response to that is going to be)
It would be easy to just say there is no God, no Christ, no Life after Death, no Premortal Life; it all started with the Big Bang and random events and evolution - that would be the simple, easy way out.
But it's like many of our Church Leaders have said, "It's either ALL true, or it's ALL the biggest scam in the history of the world."
All the records were destroyed. Isn't that conveeeenient.
I can easily consider this. A scam like this doesn't take much. All a mythology has to do, to take root, is continuously exist beyond whatever is common knowledge. When the greeks wanted an explanation for what causes an echo, they created a nymph that could only repeat what she heard. When creationists need an explanation for where all the water came from for Noah's flood, they invent a canopy of water above the earth.
There is more than just the time frame that is called into question regarding the Yeshu case. There are the crimes, which differ from what Jesus was charged with and there are the names of Yeshu's 5 followers whose names don't even come close to any of Jesus' early followers.
Mark and Luke were not Apostles and did not live with Jesus - they could only write second hand accounts. Neither Peter, James nor Mary wrote anything (and neither did the other apostles) regarding the existence of Jesus.
God made you and everything on this Earth. What other proof do you need?
Seriously, guys - you need to contact your local Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - they can come to your home, and share a beautiful message with you. They have the power to prove it to you, if that's what you need.
Having read the Holy Scriptures, I know better than to ask for proof! ( God does not like to be challenged, and sometimes your proof is rough!!!)
How do I know this??? He reveals His word through His servants, the Prophets. Moses. Abraham. Peter. Nephi. Joseph Smith Jr. Gordon B Hinckley. Thomas S Monson.
Also through His Holy Scriptures. The Holy Bible (which is actually a BUNCH of different books and witneses bound into one). The Book of Mormon. The Pearl of Great Price. And others.
Sometimes I feel like we are going in circles here!
If you can't believe God, or His Prophets and Holy Scriptures, who can you?
I think what I meant to say is that God's word is Truth. Almost the whole entire world knows this.
There shouldn't be anything confusing about it. That's the beauty of The Gospel. It is so simple, so beautiful. If you really want to know the truth, you need to contact your local Elders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. (the Mormon Missionaries, the guys on the bikes!)
Ahem, yes we do know about the bible being a collection of books...written by many men, over many years....its all contradictory and most of the books don't go with each other as regards any kind of fluency. Oh and don't forget the books that didn't make the final grade...they didn't fit the profile the early churches wanted. but then you'll have a justification for that too..oh lordy lordy lordy lordy beam me up scotty, I cannae take it nae mare!
The Book of Moses and The Book of Abraham were written by Moses and Abraham. The original documents were brought to Joseph Smith, who then translated them, into English. (they were originally written in a kind of Egyptian Heiroglyphs)
Unlike the Golden Plates from whence the Book of Mormon came, the scrolls were left on Earth after translation.
Pretty cool, huh? I believe they are stored safely in the Church's vaults along with the Sword of Laban and other artifacts.
called2servetoo: Seriously guy ... you need to contact your inner self and look hard. See if you can find what it is that is missing from YOU, that makes you need to believe in this invisible sky god?
STOP presuming to tell others what they need. It is fucking arrogant and it pisses me off!
I hate arrogance. But if you would talk to your local "Mormon Missionaries" - you know, the guys on the bikes! - you will never find more humble and clean cut young men. Their spirit will blow you away!
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we would NEVER tell you what you need! We are only offering to supplement your happiness with the divine eternal bliss of the Gospel.
Arrogance is assuming you don't need the Elders' message, when you have never heard it!
If you hate arrogance, then you only hate yourself. You not only expect your fairy tale myth to be accepted without evidence, but you wont even let yourself be tested.
called2servetoo: You refuse to see your own arrogance.
Let me spell it out.
To PRESUME to KNOW that other people NEED something that YOU are offering, is arrogant!
Your last sentence ... that is arrogance!
How the hell do you know if I have never heard their message? You may be surprised to learn this but I have done much in the study of religion(s) and I have heard MANY messages.
Yes I have met humble and polite people but they still presume to KNOW what I and others need.
Look, when YOU come here and YOU speak to others it is YOUR message.
If that basic logic escapes you then why are you even attempting to speak to anyone at all?
It seems to me, all you really like to do is speak AT people, not with them.
I really do not need to be responding to you any more as it is increasingly like talking to a chimp at the monkey house. They make a lot of noise but none of it makes any sense.Try get them to shut up though and you won't succeed. OK I'll leave you to xerock now!
I used to be in your side...Im not talking against you or God....I was once just a child asking my Celestial Father only to talk to me, and that never happened and everything says it will never happen...Its a real deception...It would be great if God could exist, but he seems to make everything PROVE he was not behind the big bang.... Sorry....
So if you will never question your own religious faith, then how can you honestly tell the difference between a prophet and someone who is just talking to himself?
My own faith may be imperfect, but I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is indeed the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As for "False Prophets", well, the Bible also said "by their works ye shall know them." No doubt referencing all of the Hail Bopp Comet cults, Branch Davidians, and Warren Jeffs out there.
He did NOT say "beware of Prophets". Satan tries to confuse things, but if you pray to know the truth, you will find it.
If your faith is imperfect then you've challenged God and are now cursed.
Yeah, you know the difference. Your religion just believes in magic underwear and that black people have no souls. We do know them and the latter day saints are just another example of blind followers of another false prophet.
You can't know the truth unless you are ready to test it and maintain it by testing it often. Have your prophets come here and be tested. if you believe they are speaking with your God.
Please do not mock the Holy Garments! ( I can't really keep you from, but please!)
They are NOT "magic" - they are "Sacred". Most religions have some token they wear like that - a hat, etc. Ours is kept close to us and hidden, because it is Sacred.
It is actually an honor and a priveledge and a huge blessing to get to be allowed to wear them!
As for your acusations of racism, I won't dignify that with a responce.
I don't have to accuse you of anything. I'm flat out telling you that your stupid little cult claimed, a a matter of policy, that the black men were colored that way because they carried the mark of Cain.
That was the decree of your prophets in the early 1900's. Are you suggesting that God was mistaken back then? Or that those prophets were really false prophets?
If you are talking about "The Curse of Cain", honestly, I'm not sure where the church stands on that doctrinally. I remember being taught about that regularly in church, up until about the early 80's.
Cain has given "a marking" do distinguish him from his siblings so that they would not mix seed with him.
In the mid 1970's, Heavenly Father told us through President Kimball that the "Priesthood Ban" against people of color was complete, and that any worthy male can now hold the priesthood.
What a crock of shit. Your logic is your own invention my friend.
The bible is a book written by man. therefore it is not relevant in this debate. End of story. Remove the bible from the debate and what have you left?
Nothing?
Let us choose a simple way of god proving he exists.
How about a massive lit up sign right in front of my eyes that has a load of flashing lights and music & then, as the whole world seems to dim around it, a voice comes out that says my name & who I am & tells me 'This is God speaking, what do I need to do to prove it to you..?' Then I could just think up some random act & he could do it.
I would be a believer right away.
Strange that god won't make it so easy eh?!
Maybe because he cant, maybe because he is imaginary? Think about it!
And yet there is a Book of Mormon in the night stand of every room of every Marriott Hotel - that's not a big blinking sign?
How about the young men in white shirts and ties riding bikes around your city, teaching the Word of Good, and handing out Book of Mormons - THAT'S not a giant blinking sign???
How about the beautiful temples that are popping up all around the world for the taking out of endowments for the living and the dead - that's way more impressive than a blinking sign, isn't it?
hey called2servetoo: As Xerock has just said so well: Those are all signs from people!! You cannot see that?
Maybe 'moron' is more accurate for you.I am now thinking 'debating' or talking to you is a waste of time as you are so blinkered you are just talking like a brainwashed prick now. I really don't have the time or inclination to worry about saving you from your own fucking dip-shittery.
There can be no winner in such a puerile attempt at discussion.
Thanks HitMeWithIt. I have enjoyed your banter. I think it is good that even though we disagree on things, we can discuss them civilly.
You think I am "Brain Washed" (funny, when your testimony can't be shaken, they always come back with that!) and others might accuse the "intellectuals" of being arrogant and closed minded.
In the end, we are all children of God, which makes us Brothers and Sisters. God has given you Free Agency to choose for yourself, and I must respect that.
OK I take back the direct insults. You're just too nice and I suppose you are right in one thing: we both have the right to choose our opinions and thoughts so, good luck to you.
I won't carry on though, like I said..just thought I'd bow out a bit more gracefully than I did!
If i was a girl, i would get pregnant as many times as possible, then have abortions after the third month of being pregnant so i would deliver a potato sized 1/3 developed dead fetus, then i would take the fetus, put it in a jar of preservative liquid and put it on a shelf in a secret room in my house, and i would do it until i had so many that the rooms walls were nothing but potato sized aborted fetuses, then i would have a kid and when they're bad i would make them sit in the fetus room.
I agree that traditional religion and Christianity does not make a lot of sense. I applaud you for pointing out how ridiculous the apparitions and signs of most religions are.
However, I would be remiss if I did not point out that all religions are not so crazy. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we have access to "the rest of the picture".
I admonish you to seek out your "Mormon Neighbors" for more information! We have the true answers to your questions.
I appreciate the kind sentiments, but the unofficial nickname for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is "Mormon" : )
You can also just say "LDS neighbors", if that's easier, although the proper way (and technically the only correct way) to say this would be "Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints neighbors".
If only someone would do one about how people into karate *MUST* be demon posessed because how else can they breal boards and bricks with their bare hands and feet?
Not usually a big fan of Mitchell and Webb, but some of their recent skeptically themed sketches are quite good. I think David Mitchell is far better than that Webb bloke.
This is why I love satire.

Please don't sacrifice chickens, God already sacrificed His Only Begotten Son for us, and there should be no more animal sacrifices. (that was "Old Testament").
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Are you saying that 'old testament' is somehow untrue, even though it is the word of god? Hmm I detect cherry-picking here.
If you say god exists then you must also say that old or new, the bible(s) are true too right?
No. You won't. You will just pick and choose the bits that sound good to you & fit your insecure needs.
You are full of shit and your logic is so circular it actually turns in on itself and defies all known laws of physics, for a circle I mean.
Read a science book for a change.
HitMeWithIt 2 years ago 3
Animal Sacrifice was commanded of God for His people during Old Testament times to help teach them about the up coming sacrifice of His Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ. Once Christ was sacrificed, no more need to teach with animals, as the people of the world can now understand the act itself (since it has come to pass). Lucky for us, and the animals too.
And again, that is why we have Prophets - because our needs change with each generation. Not God's word, but our needs.

Xerock 2 years ago 2
Actually, we don't "talk to" the Holy Ghost. We only "talk to" Heavenly Father. He answers us via the Holy Ghost.
As for serotonin and oxytocin, maybe your body is releasing those because of the burning of the Holy Ghost in your bossom. Who knows, this could be the reason that Heavenly Father designed our bodies this way, our built in receivers for him to communicate with us.

bullshit.
Joseph Smith was a con artist (with prior convictions) and you momon droolers lap it up. The reality is, you dumbasses make scientologists look rational by comparison.
Xerock 2 years ago 2
i can see now why you are having trouble feeling the spirit. please don't take this as a personal thing, but that kind of language drives the spirit away.
: )
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Yeah "make stuff up" except for the ACTUAL legal cases held in NYC in 1826 prior to when the con artist Joseph Smith started your stupid little cult.
Anytime you mormon clowns want to be shown that you're just talking to yourself and not to an omnipotent cosmic genie, you just say the word.
You get your imaginary god on the line and we can do the test right here and right now.
Xerock 2 years ago 3
I've heard of those charges before. Just the fact that Joseph Smith Jr. had so many false charges brought up against him should indicate that there was something special going on. The adversary did everything he could to discredit him, but in the end, Joseph - or actually, I should say God - triumphed.
And we would gladly accept your challenge. Go to the church web site, request the Elders, they will come to your door and put you in your place.
: )
called2servetoo 2 years ago
In other words, your faith is too weak to handle the scrutiny in open forum. So you need me to arrange a private meeting with your church so you can remain assured in your silly cult fetish.
Dont feel bad about being shown as a fraud. most religions can't deal with a direct test.
Stop talking to yourself and grow up.
Xerock 2 years ago 2
Don't take this wrong, honestly not meant as an insult, but i think that you are the one with weak faith?
i'm not afraid, but the Lord has counciled us not to engage in Bible Bashing, or contests like that. NOT because we are afraid to be "disproved" (you can't disprove something that is true),
but because God said not to test or challenge him, lest ye be cursed. Also, just because there is a trick or something, it might make others who don't no better doubt the veracity of the Gospel.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
If you honestly believe you are talking with the one true omnipresent and omnipotent God and you honestly feel that I can't disprove that you are talking with your God, then you have nothing to fear.
Weak faith? are you joking? I have no religious faith. I have interpersonal faith in real people and everyday objects that I have real experiences with. People who claim to talk with Gods or are the messengers of gods and don't show evidence or wont be tested don't qualify as faithful, just foolish
Xerock 2 years ago
you have faith in real people? Your Heavenly Father is a REAL person. He visits this Earth often in His Temples to talk to His REAL Prophets, in directing His REAL Church.
How can you NOT have Faith in that? He lives! Real, living people are speaking with him, face to face, daily!
Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet. Google him, this is the man who could - if he needed to - actually introduce you to God the Father!!!
I know it. President Monson knows it. And we know that God knows it.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Your invisible sky genie is NOT a real person regardless of how many paintings and statues you make in his Aryan image. He's a figment created to explain WHY before knowing HOW you exist or even if there was a WHO involved.
I easily reject any religious faith as being unnecessary.
If you want to be tested on that assertion that people are talking with your sky genie, I'm ready whenever you are. If you fail, will you be willing to admit that you are just talking with yourself?
Xerock 2 years ago
I don't understand why you keep calling God a "sky genie".
"Genies" are actual mythology. EVERYBODY agrees on that, right? Just like faries, Zeus, pagan stuff, etc.
Most people can accept that God is NOT mythology. God is real, He works with science and technology to do His work, NOT magic.
That's one reason I think you would feel more comfortable as a Mormon than the other religions, we believe that God uses Intelligence, Science, etc. and not some silly magic!
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Your god is NOT real and the mythology that centers around his existence or jesus' existence is no different than the mythology that centers around genies, dragons or other gods.
If you believe God uses science, then why do the mormons strive against homosexual marriage when science shows that homosexuality is indeed biological - not only in humans, but in animals.
Xerock 2 years ago
No sane person believes in genies, dragons, or the made up gods of the ancient world. But most of the sane people in the world believe in God. (*Real* God).
As for gay marriage, I admit I don't understand the biology part of it. But I think it proves a point, "why we need prophets today"-the questions and issues change.
Our living Prophet is telling us that God wants men to marry women. There are formerly gay men at church who now live happy hetero lives, thanks to the Power of the Priesthood.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
When people believed in Zeus and Odin millenia, they were no less delusional than you are today for believing in God and Jesus.
Your living prophet is still just talking to himself and I can still prove it. Your god's desires in society is irrelevant.
Xerock 2 years ago
Besides, not just the Prophets, but the apostles, too.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Let's get the mythology straight. I compare Zeus and Odin to your God. I compare Hercules and Perseus to Jesus Christ.
The myths said that people interacted with Hercules and Perseus and they did miracles too, it doesn't validate their existence.
Your mythology is easy to maintain. Your prophet lies about seeing God and the followers swallow it because you think that you will be cursed if you question it.
That's not conspiracy. That's a con job. And conning millions is not difficult.
Xerock 2 years ago
But the mythology tells of people interacting with Hercules and Perseus. In the case of Jesus Christ, there were thousand of people who actually interacted with him.
I don't know of any such historical record of people witnessing an actual Hercules or Perseus walking around doing miracles.
Surely you aren't saying that Jesus Christ is just a fictional character?
called2servetoo 2 years ago
yes, I most sincerely and wholeheartedly say Jesus Christ was a fictional character.
Any of the people that you claim Jesus interacted with or healed were no less made-up than the made-up characters in the Perseus or Hercules myths.
There were no actual people who interacted with Jesus. The only person who wrote a book of the bible who claimed any interaction was Saul/Paul.
Xerock 2 years ago
As for the Jesus myth.
Xerock 2 years ago
The time frame could easily be off. I have always heard it was supposed to be plus or minus 100 years.
Paul saw Christ. What about Peter, James, & John? Mary? Mathew and Mark and Luke? They obviously lived with Christ, they all wrote similiar accounts of His life.
I'll confess, there is one *teensi* , *weensi* little problem in the Gospels that I struggle to understand. That would be the fact that after Christ was resurrected, it says that the graves yeilded up their dead, and (cont...)
called2servetoo 2 years ago
the dead are resurrected and walking around interacting with people.
Or maybe it was a Sacred thing, commanded not to be recorded, like the Temple. idk.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Possibly, all the records were destroyed as a test of faith (all though I can guess what your response to that is going to be)
It would be easy to just say there is no God, no Christ, no Life after Death, no Premortal Life; it all started with the Big Bang and random events and evolution - that would be the simple, easy way out.
But it's like many of our Church Leaders have said, "It's either ALL true, or it's ALL the biggest scam in the history of the world."
How could you even consider that
called2servetoo 2 years ago
All the records were destroyed. Isn't that conveeeenient.
I can easily consider this. A scam like this doesn't take much. All a mythology has to do, to take root, is continuously exist beyond whatever is common knowledge. When the greeks wanted an explanation for what causes an echo, they created a nymph that could only repeat what she heard. When creationists need an explanation for where all the water came from for Noah's flood, they invent a canopy of water above the earth.
its not hard.
Xerock 2 years ago
Why is it so unthinkable that Joseph Smith was a total fraud? If you were living a lie, wouldn't you want to know about it?
Xerock 2 years ago
There is more than just the time frame that is called into question regarding the Yeshu case. There are the crimes, which differ from what Jesus was charged with and there are the names of Yeshu's 5 followers whose names don't even come close to any of Jesus' early followers.
Mark and Luke were not Apostles and did not live with Jesus - they could only write second hand accounts. Neither Peter, James nor Mary wrote anything (and neither did the other apostles) regarding the existence of Jesus.
Xerock 2 years ago
For something to be 'True' it must first have been PROVEN.
Therefore your idea of god is NOT true. So yes, you DO have to prove it.
No one has to DISPROVE it as that is it's position by default.
It is a disproven or more correctly, an unproven idea.
A fantasy.
A nonsense.
HitMeWithIt 2 years ago
God made you and everything on this Earth. What other proof do you need?
Seriously, guys - you need to contact your local Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - they can come to your home, and share a beautiful message with you. They have the power to prove it to you, if that's what you need.
Having read the Holy Scriptures, I know better than to ask for proof! ( God does not like to be challenged, and sometimes your proof is rough!!!)
called2servetoo 2 years ago
"God made you and everything on this Earth. What other proof do you need?"
That isn't proof. That's the claim. Or do you mean the fact that you said it is the proof? Sorry, BUT I don't take your word as proof.
juliecranford 2 years ago 2
NOT my word! GOD's WORD.
If you can't believe God, or His Prophets and Holy Scriptures, who can you?
called2servetoo 2 years ago
If you think only of those crackpots are talkig to God, or vice versa, have them come here and be tested in open forum.
Prophets only talk to themselves.
Xerock 2 years ago
You made a statement and then said that the statement proves itself. Maybe that's not what you meant to say, but that it is in fact what you said.
juliecranford 2 years ago
I think what I meant to say is that God's word is Truth. Almost the whole entire world knows this.
There shouldn't be anything confusing about it. That's the beauty of The Gospel. It is so simple, so beautiful. If you really want to know the truth, you need to contact your local Elders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. (the Mormon Missionaries, the guys on the bikes!)

Xerock 2 years ago 2
And who made your parents? ... ... and so forth, all the way back to this: Who made Adam and Eve?
Your Heavenly Father (through His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ!)
Lucifer would have you believe otherwise. Don't fall for it, you are smarter than that!
called2servetoo 2 years ago
You need to prove that adam and eve existed before we will address the question of who made them.
juliecranford 2 years ago
There are SO many documents documenting Adam and Eve's existence!
1. The Bible.
2. The Book of Mormon.
3. The Book of Moses.
4. The Book of Abraham.
Not to mention, that "The Bible" is actually a collection of many books, too!
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Ahem, yes we do know about the bible being a collection of books...written by many men, over many years....its all contradictory and most of the books don't go with each other as regards any kind of fluency. Oh and don't forget the books that didn't make the final grade...they didn't fit the profile the early churches wanted. but then you'll have a justification for that too..oh lordy lordy lordy lordy beam me up scotty, I cannae take it nae mare!
HitMeWithIt 2 years ago
and none of them have a shred of evidence to support any of their mythologies.
Saying that the bible supports the book of mormon and vice versa is like saying the myth of Hercules supports the myth of Jason and the Argonauts.
Xerock 2 years ago
I haven't heard of those last two.
Prove that those sources are reliable.
juliecranford 2 years ago
The Book of Moses and The Book of Abraham were written by Moses and Abraham. The original documents were brought to Joseph Smith, who then translated them, into English. (they were originally written in a kind of Egyptian Heiroglyphs)
Unlike the Golden Plates from whence the Book of Mormon came, the scrolls were left on Earth after translation.
Pretty cool, huh? I believe they are stored safely in the Church's vaults along with the Sword of Laban and other artifacts.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
No, it's not cool. I have never heard of the book of moses or the book of abraham. You're not proving proof for anything you're saying.

HitMeWithIt 2 years ago
I hate arrogance. But if you would talk to your local "Mormon Missionaries" - you know, the guys on the bikes! - you will never find more humble and clean cut young men. Their spirit will blow you away!
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we would NEVER tell you what you need! We are only offering to supplement your happiness with the divine eternal bliss of the Gospel.
Arrogance is assuming you don't need the Elders' message, when you have never heard it!
called2servetoo 2 years ago
If you hate arrogance, then you only hate yourself. You not only expect your fairy tale myth to be accepted without evidence, but you wont even let yourself be tested.
Xerock 2 years ago
called2servetoo: You refuse to see your own arrogance.
We don't 'need' it.
HitMeWithIt 2 years ago
Have you read The Book of Mormon?
I don't know ANYBODY who has ever actually read The Book of Mormon, taken it seriously, and not had a genuine experience.
Also, PLEASE understand - it is NOT "my" message!!!
It is NOT "my" church, or "my" religion. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is just what it says it is - the church of Jesus Christ.
How could you reject Him???
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Look, when YOU come here and YOU speak to others it is YOUR message.
If that basic logic escapes you then why are you even attempting to speak to anyone at all?
It seems to me, all you really like to do is speak AT people, not with them.
I really do not need to be responding to you any more as it is increasingly like talking to a chimp at the monkey house. They make a lot of noise but none of it makes any sense.Try get them to shut up though and you won't succeed. OK I'll leave you to xerock now!

Sorry....
kadrimtubes 2 years ago
And Jesus said beware of false prophets.
So if you will never question your own religious faith, then how can you honestly tell the difference between a prophet and someone who is just talking to himself?
QUIT STALLING AND TAKE THE TEST!!
Xerock 2 years ago
My own faith may be imperfect, but I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is indeed the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As for "False Prophets", well, the Bible also said "by their works ye shall know them." No doubt referencing all of the Hail Bopp Comet cults, Branch Davidians, and Warren Jeffs out there.
He did NOT say "beware of Prophets". Satan tries to confuse things, but if you pray to know the truth, you will find it.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
If your faith is imperfect then you've challenged God and are now cursed.
Yeah, you know the difference. Your religion just believes in magic underwear and that black people have no souls. We do know them and the latter day saints are just another example of blind followers of another false prophet.
You can't know the truth unless you are ready to test it and maintain it by testing it often. Have your prophets come here and be tested. if you believe they are speaking with your God.
Xerock 2 years ago
Please do not mock the Holy Garments! ( I can't really keep you from, but please!)
They are NOT "magic" - they are "Sacred". Most religions have some token they wear like that - a hat, etc. Ours is kept close to us and hidden, because it is Sacred.
It is actually an honor and a priveledge and a huge blessing to get to be allowed to wear them!
As for your acusations of racism, I won't dignify that with a responce.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Does your sacred underwear ward off vampires too?
I don't have to accuse you of anything. I'm flat out telling you that your stupid little cult claimed, a a matter of policy, that the black men were colored that way because they carried the mark of Cain.
That was the decree of your prophets in the early 1900's. Are you suggesting that God was mistaken back then? Or that those prophets were really false prophets?
Xerock 2 years ago
If you are talking about "The Curse of Cain", honestly, I'm not sure where the church stands on that doctrinally. I remember being taught about that regularly in church, up until about the early 80's.
Cain has given "a marking" do distinguish him from his siblings so that they would not mix seed with him.
In the mid 1970's, Heavenly Father told us through President Kimball that the "Priesthood Ban" against people of color was complete, and that any worthy male can now hold the priesthood.
called2servetoo 2 years ago
Why must we choose from the bible?!
