Nice tribute--we had most of those albums growing up. My Dad saw the Jolson Story when he was 16 and started to do the pantomine like Larry Parks. He did it as a kid and then in the Korean War on stage in Japan. We have numerous pictures of him and newspaper clippings. Unfortunately my Dad passed away last year. Anyway, we (my brothers and sisters and I) know every word. There's no one else I think of when I hear Jolson than my Dad. Remember the Million Dollar Movie?
I'm so sorry of your dad's passing away last year. He sounds like a wonderful and talented person. It sounds like you and your brothers and sisters loved him very much and it sounds like he did a great Jolson impression. Thanks so much for commenting on and watching this video!
That's where I first saw The Jolson Story on the old Million Dollar Movie. They would play the same movie every weekday evening and three times each on Saturday and Sunday. I was introduced to the movie at the age of 10 by my father. I was 11 by the next time they showed that movie again and I watched it all 11 times times it played that week.
We had the same kind of thing here is Cleveland in the seventies where they would repeat the same film. That is so cool that you watched the film all 11 times that week. I watched the film, Gilda with Rita Hayworth, all five times it was on one week in the seventies. Thanks so much for watching this video and sharing your memories of THE JOLSON STORY. It is very much appreciated!
I know exactly what you mean and I feel the same way. My dad was a big fan of Al Jolson like your dad also and I have a story about it with another one of my videos here on youtube called THE AL JOLSON STORY TRIBUTE TO MY DAD You may want to check it out. Thanks very much again!
