  • Yes i love touse the tylose gumpaste. The recipe is in my website.

  • hey edna...love the videos! what kind of board is this you are using to roll your fondant out on?

  • Is called a Cel Board!

    Edna :)

  • hi edna it's me again me and my mom are addicted to you're videos the more we see them the more we learn. hola this is mom, ok that was my mother back to me i have a small question how do yo mix the fondant whith the gumpaste or the tylose? because it is hard to roll. which is better thank you.

  • You can add 50/50 gumpaste and fondant.

The Tylose I do by feel. I put a bit and mix it and if it feels too soft still i add more. If it gets too hard I add more fondant.

    Edna :)

  • Best one I've seen yet! I am now a subscriber to your videos! Keep it up!

  • Have fun with it!

  • Great best bow tutorial I have seen

  • was wondering if you could help me. I just made my first batch of MM fondant. When i try to roll it out with the rolling pin it tears.Looks liek a bunch of wet sugar. Also once i get it flattened out and cut my shape out.. when i put up the shape it stretch . How can i fix these problems?

  • I dont make it as much, since it isnt my favorite as it is more stretchy and can be more difficult to work than fondant.

Maybe you overvooked the Marshmallow. Os the quality of MM you bought is not the best. Try that and if that doesnt help with a new batch, check your recipe.

    Edna :)

  • Wow, I typed this in a hurry..lol. I meant to write overcooked,...and Or..

    Edna :)

  • i had the same problem. your fondant is to varm. that why i do it a day before i need it. if you want to make figures or flowers its best you kneed inn tragant.

  • your videos are spectacular!!!!

  • WOW I gotta say that you are amazing!! this is the best bow tutorial I've ever seen..thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us beginners :)

  • Ok, it's final...I've found the bows that I'm going to use from now on! I LOVE your bows! They look SO easy! Thank you very much!

  • Great Instruction, thank you for taking the time to do this :)

  • Love your videos Edna!! Up until now I was making bows with two pieces for the loops, this makes it much easier!

  • The 2 piece loop tend to break more on the center if not attached well.

    Edna :)

  • This is really great! Thank you so much!! Did you take a course in cake making or are you self taught?

  • I took some courses and mostly been self taught.

    Edna :)

  • Can we use Flour instead of Crisco?

  • For??

  • For making the Gumpaste.

  • No,flour and shortening are 2 completely different things. It wont work.

    Edna :)

  • Okay Thanks <33

  • Thank you for the great video...you're very creative and a great teacher !!

  • Edna, thank you so much. It really helps as a new cake artist to be able to view your videos to reinforce classroom learning. I found that alot of your techniques are better than the Wilton methods. Thank you a million times:)

  • Edna you are amazing! You hav helped me soo much! Thank you so much for posting your tutorials!

  • gum paste is that the fondant?

  • Gumpaste and fondant look the same but are not the same. Gumpaste has more elasticity

    Edna :)

  • i luv the pic of the cake in the beginning of the vid

  • i think egg white is much easier to access :D

  • Online.

  • You're pretty :)

  • Aww..thanks!

  • can you buy that at stores? or can you make it at home? if so can u send me a message where i can find it or how i can make it

  • Can you buy what???...

    Edna :)

  • Hi Edna, I really love your work. Some of your videos come with low audio. Its either your talking low or you have your mic set on low. Can you please fix that problem when you do your videos. Also Can you teach us more fondant decorations. Thanks alot.

  • Make sure is not the setting in your computer or youtube. The audio is the same in all the videos. So I dont know why you are having that issue.

Make sure you have the sound high..

    Edna :)

  • I agree, the audio is super low.

  • I dont know guys...In my computer sounds very hi, I have to lower it down. I am wondering if it has to do with Youtube. They are fixing things around lately..Sorry you are having those issues!

    Edna

  • LOve the video.. you made it seem real easy! an i love thee hair and makeup!cute

  • Edna,

What type of fondant do you use to cover your cakes? They look so flawless.

  • Most of them are done in buttercream.. But when I use fondant, I use Satin Ice.

    Edna :)

  • hi :)

do you know a way to make roses from gumpaste or fondant?

  • never mind, sorry, i found it :)

i like your videos alot, you go slowly so i can see.

  • lol..enjoy..;)

  • Edna, can you please tell me how to keep mine from sticking to the board when I roll it out? I hate using corn starch because it leaves a mess. thanks

  • The board I am using works great for things to no stick in it. Some people use ceramic tiles too.(I never tried that. But you can control the amount of cornstarch if you put it in a knee high stocking as your dusting powder. That will leave less cornstarch. I prefer the letters to sick a bit to the surface so they dont stay in the tappit. And then I lift it with the palette knife.

    Edna :)

  • thanks so much for the video i was wondering how to make a bow out of fondant! btw i LOVE ur vids! ( :

  • Thanks for sharing. What a pretty bow!

  • Hi Edna, thankyou for your advice. I just wanted to check that you can eat tylose when added to the fondant??

  • yes you can, It makes it harder, so its usually used for decorations. So if people find it hard to eat, they can discard when cutting. But is totally edible.

  • Hi Edna - you videos are fantastic - I am new to cake decorating and have learnt quite a bit. If you are using fondant with tylose to make the bow, how much tylose do you add?? Many thanks.

  • I honestly go by feel..Maybe to a tennis size ball of fondant I add 1/2 a teaspoon. But that can change on the feel of the fondant. If it is too hard or soft. If you add to much and it gets too hard, (the more it rest the more you will feel a difference), you can add more fondant. Remember after you add tylose the fondant hardens fast so it wont last as much as the fondant by itself. It will get like a rock. so do what you need so there is not a lot of waste.

    Edna :)

  • Edna, can you tell me what brand your cutter is? I like the fact that it's 2 cutter in one! Gracias! :)

  • I dont know the brand, but I bought it in Bed bath and Beyond. Is a pasta cutter..

    Edna :)

  • Gracias Edna! :)

  • Orlando.... wow a'm in Los Angeles, but i'll be going to N.Y for 5 months, For some reason i thought you were in N.Y

Thanks i'll be watching your videos.

  • Hi Edna,

I'm just wondering where are you located at? and do you teach at a particular location?

  • I am located in Orlando FL.

  • I'll keep posting them as I find free time.. Stay tuned!..

    Edna :)

  • Could you show how to make the magnolia flowers from gumpaste.

  • Hi Edna:

it is worth waiting for your next video! AGAIN Great tutorial.

    Would you mind to answer:

are you using your own recipes for finishing cakes you posted on your website, or using already made fondant and gum paste. Is there a big difference in consistency if I just use your recipes instead ready made stuff?

  • I do use the Recipe of buttercream I have in my website. I do use it with high ration shortening. The gumpaste I use mostly is Nicholas Lodge, but, I have use Wilton or Satin Ice in a bind. If they are too hard I just add a little bit of fondant.

    Edna :)

  • Thanks Edna! Your video's are GREAT! I can't wait to try your bow!

  • Ohhh Edna, you make it look sooo easy and you make it so understandable! Thank-You!

  • Hey Edna! I just love all your videos! They help me so much, and I look forward to your next video! This one was really great for me because I have been wanting to make a bow for so long, but the others I saw tell you to use cotton instead of wax paper like you did, and I did not like that, so great idea!! Thanks very much for sharing, I appreciate it so much!!!

    Ashley

  • Yeah some people use cotton..I find it leaves the bow a little bit lumpy looking..Glad you enjoyed it!

    Edna

  • Thanks Edna, this is way easier than the way I was doing it. Your videos really taught me a lot. Hope you make a new one soon :-)

    Yvonne

  • Thanks Edna ! Im so excited to know how to do this !Your the best!!

  • thanks for this video. but my only question is how do you work with fondant and having such long nails?? are'nt you scared you might get nail marks in your fondant?

  • Weeeeeee frist one to comment :-) I think?

Love it, love it. I will definitely make this and try to see if it will work for me :-)
