  • This is the perfect meeting of science and art.

  • (THOM 3) The lyric 'What was that you tried to say?' suddenly doesn't seem so random. Apparently 'Yesterday I woke up sucking a lemon' was how Thom described the feeling because when you eat a lemon, your face contorts from the bitterness. He said his face was permanently like that.

  • @kidmud999two Cool. thks for sharing. I like his dreamy/morbid/apocalyptic/sad lyrics...

  • (THOM 2) I came off at the end of that show, sat in the dressing room and couldn't speak. I actually couldn't speak. People were saying, 'You all right?' I knew people were speaking to me. But I couldn't hear them. And I couldn't talk. I'd just so had enough. And I was bored with saying I'd had enough. I was beyond that.".

  • (THOM): It was during the OK Computer tour in 1997. When Thom started to lose it, with the pressure of touring and being the best band in rock. Thom came off stage after a show at the NEC in Birmingham (UK) and, well... here's what he says about it:

  • thank god for this band

  • kid a is radioheads "darkside of the moon" alot of people say its "ok computer" but i think this is alot closer then ok computer> it is by far my favorite album of theres> it gives me such strength in these scary brave new world were living> it takes you to the depts of hell>

  • The whole Kid A album is like a beautiful, lucid dream gone horribly wrong.

And i mean that in the best way possible.

  • does anyone know exactly what johnny is using to manipulate thom's voice? i can't get a good look at it...

  • @thedukky It's a Korg Kaossilator Pro, but you can get somewhat similar fun with the Mini-Kaoss or the Kaoss-KO2, which costs around $100, as well.

  • @thedukky Thats not a kaossilator pro, its a normal kaoss pad kp1 1st generation, came out in 1999.

  • Easily the best version of this song they ever done.

  • lol did u ever consider that the apostrophe was supposed 2 be there on purpose, think about the song, title and the awesomeness of Radiohead everything is in it's right place :P

  • you guys just need to enjoy the music, who cares if there's suppose to be an apostrophe or not

  • @ebexperience

The apostrophe isn't the end of the world, but it does seem a shame that it's there, in its Wrong Place.

  • Its is already a possessive pronoun - "its" as a word is inherently possessive, you do not need to add anything to it.

An apostrophe on it's is an abbreviation of "it is". So, for instance, OCD at it is finest, or Everything in It Is Right Place.

  • Ingenious...

  • Take to apostrophe out of its

    Please :)

  • OCD at it's finest.

    (Catch that? Haha.)

  • That rule goes for everything except the word "it." Don't ask me why! I don't even know why I left that comment...so picky! Haha

  • love!

  • I can play this on the piano. love! .__.

  • me too! best song ever

  • I love having radiohead playing in the background of anything I do... driving, sleeping, eating, chillin con mis amigos; it's all good.

  • ME TOO!!!

  • i like how they sample his voice in the beginning so they can loop it and play it while he sings

  • radiohead rules!

  • I agree with the clapping comment. I've heard live shows where dumbasses clap with it and kill the tempo. It's one thing to sing -- but the clapping thing just kills me.

  • @BillClintonn Something hilarious i always see at gigs is all of the drummers and Black people clapping on the 2 and 4 and everyone else claps on 1 and 4....sounds horrible. Clapping in songs shouldn't be at Radiohead concerts. Ever.

  • @tjdrummer13 I'm white, and I've never in my life clapped on 1 and 4! WTF?

  • @geridg You must be colour-blind. You're obviously black.

  • @tjdrummer13 yeah, thinking about it for another minute, I think you must just be fucking dumb. and probably racist. but they go hand in hand

  • @tjdrummer13 that makes no sense. delusional?

  • excellent

  • Wow!

  • I know! Just that one word- WOW! There is only that one proper response. :P

  • What a very polite crowd and amazing performance. I feel privileged to have this band exist in my lifetime.

  • mnmm

  • @killershears Absolutely agree!!! Their audiences are always respectful and polite.

  • @killershears its only the beginning. music will only get better over time. correct or not

  • im happy that the crowd isnt clapping along because ive seen this live where everyone claps and they all drag the tempo which just makes it harder for them. some people just don't have a pulse at all

  • What the fuck are you talking about?

  • The youtube reply thing is fucking gash, I replied to someone and it just doesn't put it anywhere near the comment, annoying.

  • Oh hahaha. Yeah that can be a pain in the ass. My bad.

  • Johnny G. is using a Korg Kaoss pad to manipulate Thom's voice in real time. Ed, meanwhile, is tweaking his effects to manipulate Thom's piano. Looks like he is mostly playing with a Line 6 Delay Modeler. All in all, extremely cool use of effects in a song.

  • is johnny using a theramin?

  • Really good, this track is my fav by them, so melodic

  • Yeee and they do it well.. its often played at the end of their gigs.

  • damn!!! I didn't think it was possible to play this live but they did a fucking job of it.

  • one of best live performance E V E R

  • I agree.

  • probably the best live video i've seen of this song

  • Well, I thought it's pretty obvious the girl has no skills playing drums, but hey, I won't argue about that.

  • why doesn't anyone give credit to ed for his amazing effect work on this song? sure the stuff jonny does with the vocals is amazing, but the ambient cloud that ed creates for the second half is AMAZING!

  • When I saw these guys live, I thought there would be no way they could do justice to this song. I literally had my jaw on the ground when they played it. Same feeling now seeing this. Pure brilliance.

  • its the arrogance, the rolling stone magazine think, yep there is a better live band than radiohead.

    the bloody idiots.

  • saw them last year at bonnaroo, was amazing. i am still pissed though that rollingstones mag rated them at #2 as best live performance where white stripes got #1. WTF?!?!??!!

  • White stripes no 1 ? The girl doesn't even know how to play drums... And they're just 2 ! What the fuck, I agree.

  • korg chaos pad

  • first time I heard this song was live ,in athens ,2 months before kid a. 2 days in a row. and then 2 months like ages...

  • jonny is using a kp2 or 1 - a kaoss pad by korg - amazing device

amazing band - always on top

  • Never heard this before, i love it.. Relaxing..

  • you're kidding me, right?

  • No.. having problems reading?

  • haha. funny

  • i love this album Kid A.. j.greenwood used what kind of fx? anyone?

  • i love this album Kid A....

    j. greenwood used what kind of fx? anyone?

  • everything this band touches turns to gold, they've never even made an average song imo. their new album is gonna be huge

  • I remember this one, was it 'later with jools holland'?

Tom strikes me as a real genius, always been a big fan of them even saw them last year in wovlerhampton!

    Bloody awsome!

  • I have a tatoo that reads KID A within a barcode on my arm...I saw them do that in Houston, TX, there only Texas stop. 6 hours to drive there on a work night and get back and I would've done it for a week strait! Radiohead brings creativity back to music!

  • dude, i bought tickets to that houston '03 concert and didnt get to go cause my car broke down on me and no one else had a ride. Bah! would have been 6 hrs for me, too. SA to HOU

  • "I have a tatoo that reads KID A within a barcode on my arm..." wow, that is soo crazy.

  • it is. the tatoo artist that gave mine in austin, tx said i was the first of my kind for him...that was my freshman year of college at UT and this album changed how I looked at what a band could do with music.
