Re Science- and the towers. Get a grip. You used the word "science" as if it is somehow a cohesive whole. It isn't. No purchase required. Linux OS flavours are usually free. Ubuntu, Mint, fedora are all free and usually come with an entire suite of Office, Internet and other utilities. I double boot into either Ubuntu or Mint. I also have Windows XP on the system but won't use it ever on the Internet. I only use it for games, language and Bible programmes (although Linux sports pretty good Bible progs).

Check out the computer mags, esp Linux specific ones. research the systems.

BSD is another secure system but I am not sure what kind of progs and utilities it has.

If you get a Debian Linux based system like Ubuntu or Mint, then they have an incredible update system that continues to bolster and update the entire system, including add on programs every day.

I believe the other base systems (Redhat or Slackware bases) have similar systems nowadays, but I don't use them anymore.

I'm afraid this video isn't quite accurate.

Aging isn't explained just by telomers. Yes, when cells divide they lose the end of their chromosmes (the telomer) and once it has been used up problems with the DNA start occuring. However:

1) Stemcels (such as in the skin, the bowel lining,...) have a telomerase which adds to the telomer every cycle, yet they do age and lose the ability to divide eventually.

2) Cell that don't divide (neurons) don't lose the telomer, yet still age.

Another aspect of aging is the degradation of long lived proteins, for instance the lens of the eye, the tendons,... These proteins are hard or impossible to replace and even if they are replaced the quality of the overal structure is reduced. UV light, X-rays and other types of radiation play, amongst other factors, a role in this degradation.

Another (smaller) aspect of aging is the accumulation of toxines which disturb regular cell function (eg tar in cigarettes).

Finally, and most importantly, the accumulation of mutations in the DNA results in disturbed cell function, faulty proteine production, repair failures,... And while free radicals are probably the largest cause of these mutations, ionizing radiation also produces these mutations. For instance, it is a well documented fact that increased sun exposure increases the aging rate of the skin.

With all this said, not all factors that play a role in aging are currently known.

What Hovind is talking about here, I think, is the fact that exposure to ultra-violet radiation damages the skin and that many features we associate with aged-looking skin is in fact not natural aging, but UV damage.
