  • You might want to know this. This prelude actually reflects the golden ratio, often portrayed by the Fibonacci sequence. Awesome piece, Debussy!! :)

  • Beautiful !!!

  • This is Debussy's answer to Ravel's Gaspard de la nuit

  • geertdehoux is a weirdo.

  • @iansquared3 agreed

  • this is what I want to be someday. even though he made mistakes, he was AMAZING. geetdehoux, don't focus on the bad things, because there was a lot more good.

  • I think he articulates well...sort of what you need for this piece.

  • Wrong note at 0:50 ...

  • @muscimath No. stop being so pedantic. listen to the beautiful song as a whole instead of counting when the wrong notes happen. it sounded perfect to me.

thank you pianopotato for uploading this masterpiece.

  • @muscimath It's not a single almost unnoticeable missed note you should be judging...

  • wow

  • I like this interpretation! It's refreshingly not poundy and rushed over. It has the nuances that Debussy most definitely intended. Great job!

  • @owenhullinger It's great! His interpretation really creates the atmosphere for the title.

  • stupenda versione, personale e bellissima!

    BRAVO!!!!!!

  • niceeeee

  • This is a VERY good performance, 'pianistically' and musically!

What a difference between this beauty and Richter's and Pollini's noise!!

  • This is, in my view, an EXCELLENT performance, pianistically and musically!

What a difference between this beauty and Richter's and Pollini's noise!!

    Geert Dehoux, pianist.

  • What a difference with Richter's and Pollini's noise!

  • wow!

  • I start to learn it, thanks for sharing this video :) Good job !

  • What a great song, and so well interpreted! Nice Job!

  • ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!

That's beautiful execution! I love how you go over and under so much with so much control!~ Wish i could play like this :D

  • I fully agree.

  • I really love this piece. it's so cool and great!

I like the creac in the beginning..

  • me too! it's magnificent :)

  • now i know ... that downward passage in the beginning can be executed not using glissando

  • its still a glissando... its just not played a different way to what is usually done. glissando doesn't have to be done with one hand running down the piano...

  • You're right: there are several ways of making glissando.

  • I think 'glissando' means, certainly in Debussy's piano works, a certain sound.

If you make that sound with one or both hands, who cares ?

  • @geertdehoux although he didnt make that sound, he played a wrong note...he hits the middle c in the middle of that glissando.

  • This piece isn't that difficult if you actually think about the music, all of the scales and chords are the same. It's quite simple, it just sounds hard

  • the things u mention may be easy... but... they multiple textures and rhythms in this piece, along with pedalling, and dynamics are very hard. interpreting this work, in a suitable manor, can prove to be difficult for some people... technique is not everything...

  • I don't agree with that.

This piece was written in a non-pianistic way, and that makes it difficult to play it very well.

  • I might learn this-either this or Le Tombeau de Couperin by Ravel.

    Hey, why not both?

  • he rocks! i am playing this piece, but i am not even close to his playing! nice articulation! bravo!

  • wow! i'm playing this piece, and i'm 10 ytears old! i don't think i can EVER play like him,!

  • Don't sell yourself short. kid. We all started somewhere. Just be patient, be a good student and practice and you will be there before you know it!

  • Exactly!

  • i am playing this piece, and i'm only 10! so difficult! how do you reach all of the noted? especially the octaves, big chords, and the glissando???

  • If you're only 10, then don't force yourself and stay focussed on the classical Masters like Czerny, Clementi, Mozart, Haydn and others.

You'll have time enough to work on things like this.

    Cordially,

    Geert Dehoux, pianist.

  • @EmilyK42599 why are you playing this piece if you cant reach the octaves, big chords, and the glissando?

  • I'm considering learning this piece (not song) and I honestly have to say that this is very inspiring. This is easily one of the best interpretations I have ever heard. Just beautiful!

  • Fantastic performance of this incredibly hard piece!

  • Bug musicianship here! Fine technique too!

  • perfect.

ps. you have huge hands O.o''

  • This is the best performance I ever heard in my life! Congratulations! You play with an incredible sensibility and virtuosity! Wow!

  • I agree. This is a wonderful performance!
