I have a Japanese Issue Odyssey Absolute, 2006 model, looks like a panther....it's way cool. Sleek sporty, comfortable, reliable and fast! This concept is cool too, very much like the Japanese Issue 2009 model, just the grill is a bit chunkier.
minivans lend themselves really well to a young man in a wheelchair like myself. i'm so glad they are starting to appear sleek and really nice looking as opposed to making young people look like they are borrowing their grandparent's van.
this honda looks nice i like it better then siena at least hondas peddels dont stick wats next on toyota problems with steering wheels this honda ill definily buy
My thoughts on the fuel economy: The current Odyssey with VCM is advertised at 36 MPG (imperial on the highway) Now of course many don't get quite as high as that, but with better aerodynamics and a six speed, I can see it do as well as close to 40 imperial MPG, which would rival the Mazda5: a VERY impressive, albeit a tad ambitious feat.
What happen to Chrysler minivans they were the top leader number 1 for 25 years and now they suck. Some how Chrysler need a come back and retake their #1 place. It getting harder and harder to come with fresh new ideas.
@masterlee123, Chrysler minivans suck in part because the retards running the show lost touch with what a lot of buyers wanted. Getting rid of the short wheelbase model was their first mistake. And, quality took a nose dive a long time ago. Corporate brass @ Chrysler doesn't give a damn about making good cars & trucks that are reliable and that last; they care about stuffing their pockets with cash as fast as they can. They're like vultures feeding on a carcass.
Our next (2nd) Odyssey? Just like the last concept, this one will be about 99% to its production model. Approve 99% ... ' till the wifey adds her 1% approval. :-)
Honda got smart and brought it to a respectable size again. Although apparently it's essentially just as large on the inside as the last two generations. That's something I hate seeing. A project starting out at a certain size and then exploding to something that it was never intended. The current civic is bigger then the Accord from the mid 90s- why?
In a sense, yeah.. It's still a three row vehicle- something that you don't really see other then in 1970s American wagons, still a higher roofline, but swing doors in the back instead of sliders.
It was bigger then the Mazda 5, but still smaller then the prototype.
@MrOdyman, let's hope this is a trend. I'm sick of cars getting larger with each new generation too. I can remember when the Accord wasn't that much bigger than the current Civic. Now it looks like a land yacht. I love Honda, but they need to stop designing cars to please the typical American so much.
I hope so too. Many have cited safety as the reasoning behind an increase in size... However, technology's made some impressive advances so one can only hope.
The "lightning bolt" window line really helps to break up the inherent longness of minivans. Very sucessful design element. The front end reminds me a little too much of Ford (gag), but otherwise I love it!
True, but the problem with american cars is that they got cheap, sucked ass, cut back to make up for declining sales, and failed more.
With Honda, they're usually pretty good at only changing what doesn't work. This is cosmetic. My 03 van has the same turn signal stock as the one on my previous 1994 Civic. It worked for that many years and they save all kinds of money by doing that.
i dont like it better than the resent model, but i liked the tail lamps the new desing of the windows in the back area of the lateral side. good job HONDA. but please change the head lamps .

You 100% right on the money. I think Chrysler went under when it got taken over by MB in 1998.

The rear "kink" looks like an Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the connected looking door handles looks like it was taken from the Rolls Royce Ghost.

wasn't the odyssey originally sort of like a station wagon. Occasionally I will see these old station wagons on the road and it says odyssey.

@rockingdoodcm, The original did look like a tall station wagon with conventional opening doors as opposed to sliders commonly seen on minivans.

Didn't it take van makers decades to figure out to hide the door track under the rear quarter glass?
Now Honda is going to make sure they can't do that?
