I wasn't really nervous, but just to make sure I didn't freak at the last second, I searched this, all was good but for some reason when he said the lottery ticket thing it scared me dead. I am sooo nervous now
@ShaeMays If the lottery part makes you nervous, then forget about that part. Focus on the positive things that worked for you. Remember, your brain can only hold one thought at a time. Make it a positive one. Good luck!
Oh goodness, this eased my nerves a lot. I have a lot of issues with a shaky voice, even when I'm sitting down in an intimate setting -- like a small classroom where everyone is listening intently on what I'm saying.I get scared I'll say something dumb and I lose control of my composure. Any advice on what I can do to avoid this?
Hey thanks! Great info! I think just not caring what people think of you is another key because honestly what's the worst thing that's going to happen to you?
sometimes i get nervous before going on and ill sweat pretty badly eventhough in an aircon room. how can i stop sweating? its worse when people realize it..
@nez349 Sweating is usually a sign of your nervous system being too cranked. It happens to lots of people.
Try to have some funny or relaxing thoughts in your mind when you're waiting to speak. Also practice the first minute of your talk so you really know it. That can help with some of the anxiety as well. Finally, look for a friendly face in the crowd and try to talk to that person.
Sounds like you've got a lot of adrenaline that's making your voice go up. Try to think of something funny or a happy memory before you start to talk. That can help you stay calm.
@masterfreestyler187 It sounds like you've got your flight or fight response going. Try to practice the first 30 or so seconds of your talk as much as possible. That way you'll have more confidence during the start and that can help you ride out any nerves. Good luck!

@oooitsstacey Make sure that you're breathing properly. Poor breathing can weaken your voice, which in turn makes you self conscious.
Is there one person in the audience who you know supports you? Try to focus on that person if you start to feel nervous.
Most of the time, we worry more about situations where we lose control than actually having them happen.

@3LECTROCLASH You raise a great point. It can be easy to fall into the trap of worrying about being liked instead of being your authentic self.

@jutsenberg
Agreed, he's a great guy conveying a great message. The rictus smile seemed out of place. I wonder why he used it?
