@arjunahawaii I do not look down on strippers or try to remove their contributions to the art of pole dancing as we know it today. In this video I am just pointing out that what I do really is not stripping (stripping is removing one's clothing). I'm not claiming superiority, simply stating a fact. Many people only associate pole dancing with stripping. I see it as much more. It has elements of sexuality that are vital, but it has other benefits and emotional ranges as well.
I don't know why you wish to run from the stripper heritage of pole dancing. Sure - pole dancing may have originated outside of the strip joints - but it was girls in clubs who were looking for more inventive ways to entertain men and challenge themselves physically that popularized pole dancing today.
How is a woman who strips and pole dances less of a woman than you are? Pantera was an exotic dancer right? Didn't Ms. Butterfly start out in the same club as she?
I love all your points, very well said. I feel like the minority in the pole community are males, as their are male dancers. They deserve their right to be along with a woman as equal to do pole dancing. Sometimes this isn't accepted even around pole dancing classes. I love both. Great stunning performances with pure agility and athleticism, guys and gals are doing wonderful jobs.
Thank you for your video! I am gonna share it an hopefully people will stop their stupid giggles! (wishful thinking). I love pole and I hate how much justification I have to give to do it! I don't see it being any different to other aerial arts (I do silks, trapeze, hoop and Chinese pole) and there are a lot of similarities it takes a lot o strength and flexibility. Also unlike gym workout it's fun :)
I am so happy you made this video.. it inspired me to make a video similar to this. I made a presentation on pole dancing for my philosophy class. I'll send it to you when I am done :)
@CrazySamantha0214 That's great to hear! I really think that people's attitudes about it will change in the coming years. Of course there will always be the naysayers. But I'm sure that most of the people who put it down have never tried it themselves.
