I believe Zodiac is a really smart person.He basically got away with murders,the SFPD had so much evidence to convict Arthur Lee Allen had not been for the last piece of the puzzle:His DNA.He used someone elses DNA to leave a different profile

@cnash41 Zodiac was obviously a creation by law enforcement to put one face on drug induced random murders in the "free love and peace" movement in San Francisco in the mid sixties to early-mid 70's.The first Cyphers were actual "Cyphers"..the rest of them are jargon. They have never been cracked because they are meaningless..not because some "super force" made them...continued...

@cnash41 ..cont.. The police needed that element so they didn't have to say the truth which was "the murders are random..anybody strung out on drugs could be responsible". Fact: The Zodiac Slayings were synonymous with having different bullets fired from different weapons. Police answer to this: "Zodiac is picky about ammunition". Real Answer that fits the scenario "Different killers".

The police made him for the betterment and well being of their society. I think it was a decent thing to do.

@cnash41 and to fall victim to black and white thinking in this scenario is why it worked.It is better for people to leave their homes thinking some isolated single force out there is praying on young couples than to think that anybody at anytime(under the influence of heavy psychotropics) could randomly fire on them for no reason which is what was happening.

I think it is entirely plausible that somebody in a drug induced state put on an executioners hat and killed people AND..cont..

@cnash41 ...cont..the police saw an opportunity in that circumstance to develop a character to calm the people and shield them from the reality that random murders were taking place.

Who would have direct knowledge of how the competing news papers worked in the area: Hyper intelligent serial killer...or...police who deal with them day in and day out year after year? Different guns and bullets: picky killer...or..different people? Who are the first people to the scene? Police.

@cnash41 ...random cabbie shooting that witnesses claimed was committed by an African American Male..or killer who's description was changed from African American to Caucasian that matched the generalized "Zodiac" description as soon as the police arrived and took statements? The serial killer in this context never existed...and I don't fault or distrust the police for doing what they did. They had never encountered a massive drug induced-city wide-epidemic before. Good on them.

@ArmyBoyAE - Actually, only ONE victim of his shooting murders survived, Mike Mageau. The first two teenagers were both shot dead, as was Darlene Ferrin and Paul Stine. The two at Berryessa were stabbed (and one of them survived). Also, Jared Loughner used a 9mm in the Arizona shootings, and he was horrifically successful with it, so get your facts straight before you cluelessly post something, dumbfuck, and dont encourage killers to use bigger weapons either, you 19 year old little bitchboy.

i think it was arthur leigh allan.the zodiac watch allan was wearing is what convinced me it was him.he was the only suspect they interviewed that had that kind of watch and he didnt even try to hide it when they questioned him.in the movie zodiac , toschi said he wanted to arrest allan right then and there when he saw the watch.

There's no doubt in my mind that all but one or two zodiac incidents were committed by ALA. No doubt in the mind of the guy who saw the face of, and got shot by, zodiac from a few feet away, either.
