it would definitly help if i knew the ball speed. if i show you a video of me bowling, would you try to figure out my rpm's? it'd be greatly appreciated
im more of a stroker style, but i have no idea how to calculate my revs.. i dont have a high speed cam or anything but if i sent you a vid do you think you could give me some sort of estimate?
i am a 15 year old bowler of minnesota with a 195 average not great i know but youwould be able to calculate my revs right or at least tell me how i could do it orrr.....
@kunzie1707 you think a 195 average isn't great? i'm 17 and my league average this summer was a 164. to me that's like being the best varsity player in the state.
@davidalloy94 195 for high school bowling is rather good. Roughly based on my high school and teams around, you might find no 195 average bowlers or a whole team filled with over that. Our team averaged probably just under 180 and we won our matches about 3:2. On my team, a 164 average would probably flop between JV and varsity.
@acooldude0 it isn't a good enough average to make varsity on my school team. to make varsity your average needs to be at least 180. but i just hope that even after i try out and still don't make varsity, i'll get good enough to move up to varsity during the season.
@TheFeetofGod he has to be a two handed guy. no way a one handed bowler can even acheive 600. Jason Belmonte is a pro and throws around 600 revs with two hands and he towers by atleast a couple hundred revs over the rest of the pros that bowl one handed. i call crap.
i bet none of you boneheads have a rev rate higher then 250 ... throw a old urethane ball with a pancake weight block and it will REALLY show you how many revs you DON'T have.....
Ball type has nothing to do with rev rate first of all. And most people without reactive now throw plastic which grips the lane less than urethane and has a single piece pancake weight block. Besides that shouldn't matter, a good bowler will be able to bowl well with any ball because they will be able to adjust and make the ball work with the condition that is out there. BTW I can average with plastic, and not house shots, I have done it before. It is all about adjusting.
if im a cranker and i put some white tape on my black widow bite, and i throw it about 19-20 mph the tape caame around about 18 to 23 times, how many revs do i have, im 14
@jimmsr you need to get your shit straight...robert smith has been recorded at over 720 revs...i have 650+...it sux to have such a high rev rate and such a fast ball speed...
@byeofficer Robert smith max clocking was a 652 to be exact, which is shown in a video with randy pedersen, dont need to tell me about robert smith.... If you do have 650 i would like to see a small vid of your ball motion...
Actually the traditional cranker, stroker and tweener has more to do with timing and release style than rev rate. Although each style typically has a range of RPMs they are associated with which bowlers have come to use as baselines, there are always exceptions.
So to answer your question, you are probably either a stroker or tweener. If your release timing is early I would label you as a stroker.
@bowlspot if im a cranker and i put some white tape on my black widow bite, and i throw it about 19-20 mph the tape caame around about 18 to 23 times, how many revs do i have, im 14
The last guy has a nice release, but not the best. He chicken wings it, look how far the ball is from his ankle at release. If he kept his elbow closer to his body, it would be better.
@Taz86 I agree. I would much rather be consistant than have the amount of Revs that I do. I sit at around 350-400 revs. It's kinda hard when the lanes are dry. Ps do you have any vids of you bowling?
all of them are bowling from the top of the ball. like 2 of them were inside the ball so they are gonna have low RPM's. the last person had the best release imo
anything over 300 isn't low. the tour average is around 330 if i remember right. 375 would be considered a high end tweener. most of them have pretty good stroker releases, and it's not about how much you put on the ball but how consistent you are.
i'm around 400 myself, but i'm consistent. sometimes i wish i didn't have revs for days
ok not alot of people can throw 500rpms i only get like 400 at a place where i have to throw proper hand position i dont change my revs just the ball if you watch my video thats on like 200
Interesting. I was spinning my hand to four o'clock at the far left. I don't think I saw that one. Nor did I see a no thumb shot. The great bowlers can control their RPMs to play the lanes differently. I think most pBA bowlers go higher than the highest number on here.
yes most pba stars can go higher if they want to, but the fact is that they use hand position and roll instead of changing rev rates to combat lane conditions
Still have trouble getting my fingers into that strong of a position like the last 2 shots. I still think I'm getting in the mid 200's or so... or at least I hope so lol
82rpm?? Is this real life?!

@TheFeetofGod no thumb? he would break his thumb trying to get 600 one handed seriously.

@HippyHD No... He uses his thumb, he can only go 600 revs like twice cause it hurts his hand so bad.
