3 questions do you need a ati card? Cause i have a intel express chispset 2. When will this come out? And 3. Will it work just on a laptop monitor not tv monitor etc?
The problem with that approach is that it becomes a bottleneck as it offers PCI-Express x1! (Its about the same as AGP 1x). So its going to cause performance limitations to some games. (bandwidth sensitive ones).
ASUS's solution has the advantage of being compatible with just about any laptop with ExpressCard slot.
I guess we can't have our cake and eat it too...Yet. :)

Asus already made something like this (Asus XG).
Good to see AMD developing something like this too.

These will have HD 3800's in them.

if this is done via a external sata port or firwire 800 then this would kick ass no lag and maybe they could put good graphics in to it
arranmc182 3 years ago
It uses PCI-Express 2.0 x8 connection. That's 4 GBytes/s bandwidth.
There is also a reference design that has a box containing 2 GPUs in CrossFire. The one shown here has 1 GPU.
