I knew Odetta since the early 60's. We became close friends through some of the 70's. She was going to do a song of mine but the album fell through because of a bad record producer. We didn't care, we were still close. Then, as things happen, we drifted apart. Now it's so good to see and hear her on youtube. She was as classy off stage as she was on stage. One of those truly beautiful people.
12-29-10 Odetta Remembered. Born 12-31-30 and passed 12-2-08. Thank you for this. It helps those who missed something wonderful, meaningful and everlasting. We will count the days you are gone.
Just wanted to hear the story - from the very beginning. She tells it like no other. Piano was a little distracting at times - let her tell it., get out of the way. Too much. Other times pretty tasty. Wonderful version of this incredible blues.
What a wonderful singer, what a wonderful song, what wonderful backing music, and what a wonderful dress and hat. What else can I say, thank you for posting. Best wishes.
A great great woman!!! What she contributed to folk, blues, gospel and jazz... is remarkable!!! She was the real thing. A true artist. We love you Odetta!!! You'll be missed.
I had the good fortune to see Odetta live in Milwaukee back in the early 60's. She played to an auditorium and did not use nor need a microphone. It was an awesome evening, and one I will never forget. Unbelievable natural talent.
o more plastic bimbos! more real performers who look like they not only mean it but feel it.Odetta may have never made the kind of ridiculous money the hyped performers of today ( don't earn)Odetta's paid her dues, and it's about time the bimbos followed her example and got off their spoiled and pampered backsides and become real seasoned entertainers like Odetta, feel it, project it and most of all undrestand it. chordially yours jbbutterfield
She is greatest... influencing Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin and thousands of us playing songs of work and freedom back in the 50's and 60's. we love you Odetta keep that little light shining.
Thumbs up if you are here for "The Dark Tower"!
