I think he's wheezing Or having a dream but just in case my advice is to take him outside for fresh air as it would clear out his lungs and make sure to keep your room and his sleeping areas neat and clean off any dust or stuff like that to prevent his wheezing.
Alway's use shredded paper that has been cleaned and free of dye's. U can pick it up at walmart its really cheap . Other stuff such as wood chips or shavings harm there respratory systems and weakin there immune system. I don't like to use old t-shirts and stuff b/c no matter how much i trim there nails they always get snagged on the fabric sewing strings, and I wouldnt want them to get stuck on it and be stuck all night while i sleep or break there toe
I doubt this but did anyone else check the date this was posted. It was like 2 years ago so I think it's safe to say he knows that Hoppie( sorry if I misspelled it) is fine and is just dreaming. Though I am a bit worried about the fact that you have wood chips in the bottom of the "Pet Palace." You see they can be harmful to the ferret in a myriad of ways but mostly it has to do with their respiratory system. So I recommend changing it to something else, if you haven't already.
I've had ferrets for several years and I believe they dream and have nightmares like we do. They especially make it a lot as kits (babies). Sometimes if you watch carefully and they're in the right position - you can see their feet move like they're running. I believe they dream. The time to be concerned is if they make a combination groan/growl/whimper sound when you pick them up. That can mean they're in pain and you should consult with a vet. Hope this helps.

my ferret made sounds like that and his feet would twich it was so funny because he would wake up and scare himself lol so i think he is just dreaming
hey, i had ferrets a few years ago and they made these noises because i used the wrong stuff to lay on the bodem of the cage. I used the same stuff as you do but the vet sais they could get breathing problems of it because they are very sencetive for dust. The vet told me i should use stuff like t-shirts and jeans or a little blanket that you can wash 2-3 times a weak. I did it and the noises stopped.
Yes or make sure you use bedding material that states "dust extracted" on the label. Some ferrets like to chew on fabrics like tshirts and blankets which can cause gastrointestinal blockage
Sounds like the noises my rats made before I found out they had respiratory infections :( It was sad, they were kept in very good conditions here, but the people who had them before us did not, apparently...
Hello! I'm Niki and I have kept ferrets for 10 years. Those sounds your ferret is making is nothing to worry about, he is simply snoring. All of my ferrets do it. I think they tend to do it more when they are cold. Hope that eases your mind xx
ew years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand;sorry i didnt want that happening to me
Ive heard mine do that before, not as loud as yours. As long as the vet says hes okay, then I would consider it safe to assume that it is dream grunts. Also, it is not uncommon for ferrets to sleep with their eyes partially or completely open. One time I thought my ferret was dead, his head was hanging off of his hammick unnatural like and his eyes were wide open and glassed over, he would not respond to his name, but he was, in fact, sleeping.
not to be alarmed, but have the ferret tested for insulanoma. If caught early it can be easily treated. If not, it gets sad. Ferrets with insulonoma tend to be more 'vocal' during sleep. Or, it could just be normal dreaming ferret sounds.
You're little one is just fine. He/she is having a dream.
My little ones screech sometimes in their sleep, and when I go and check on them, they're laying on their backs, just snoozing away like nothing is wrong <3
He/she is just, well talking in his/her sleep! I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. You sound so concerned in this video . . . It's . . . well, I'm gonna sound stupid saying this, but it's cute. Not in a bad way; it's just good to hear someone who cares about his pets so much.
Yeah both my ferrets do that, they're dreaming. My ferrets move their feet, pretending to run as well. Nothing to worry about, it's actually quite cute. Lovely ferrets you have. :)
Ferret dream, just like us. Nothing to worry about. If it gets loud, and sounds like a bad dream, hold him/her on his/her belly and stroke his/her belly. Should sooth him/her. Nice ferrets. :o)
hes snoring my ferret does it all the time :)

redheadevil12 10 months ago
Indeed I would take out the woodchips. Though, mine squeeks and snores when he sleeps---apart from the million other noises he makes when he sleeps.
jordyboi76 11 months ago
wood chips are not good for their stomach maybe he had a tummy ache from it sounds also like it could be irratating his lungs
kimmyfilth 11 months ago
You should lay some fleece blankets at the bottom instead of the wood chips, that's very bad for the ferret his breathing system.
How are your ferrets today?

By the way is that wood/cedar chips I see??
TELL me you are not that ignorant.. Never ever put any type of wood chips in a ferrets cage it causes respiratory problems!

Can I ask u ferret owners something?
I've wanted a ferret for a loooong time, but evryone seem to think that they stinc, is that true??
WeAreTotallyLost 3 years ago
u need to give him ore her a bath evry week
xpgek 3 years ago
if you bathe them more than once every 2 weeks it dries out their skin. This is unhealthy for them and may even make them smell a little more.
Paraesthetic 3 years ago 2
they do not stink that much and I even had one that was NOT descented
a couple times he sprayed like a skunk (although about 100 times less strong of a smell) outside when he was ticked off about something
having said that, their cages WILL SMELL if you do not clean them out. Ferrets have high metabolism so you need to clean their litter box.
