  • i forgot all about this song.thanks for posting.i still love roy ayers.he was a big hit in my era.

  • @sunhbot I'm with you, what a guitar player, I'm going to nick his style! I imagined he died like the usual jazzer but looked it up and he died saving someone's life! You know where to get more of his stuff?

  • he got toooo many good songs. Roy ayers is a genius

  • great song... this was actually the version i was looking for, vaguely remembering hearing it played by my father when i was young. thx for the upload... it's good to hear good music in this day and age

  • fjzingo, Because that's what roy does, he brings a different sound to his music. He does what no one does today that's why I buy jazz only, R&B SUCKS, Nobody can sang or play real music. What Roy is playing is call a vibe which was called a one time XYLOPHONE. VIBRAPHONE PIPES AND A FOOT PEDAL which nobody can play but those that are GIFTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love this song but it's sick, why play a muted trumpet synth solo on what is it mallets????

  • @fjzingo

Probably the same reason a guitarist (Al Di meola for instance) would use a Synclavier, to extend their "vocabulary" or same something differently.

  • @fjzingo

This video is shortened but in the full version Roy Ayers explains that he was doing a tribute to Miles Davis using this machine to simulate the trumpet.

  • Oki,

  • I love the metal Mosh part @ 2:46 !!!

  • smokin cut !!! roy kickin ass !! dennis too !!!

  • This man is a funkomatic!

  • RIP Zachary Breaux

  • Roy's music is mesmerizing,,,,I remember seeing him on the Camden (NJ) waterfront. Just as he was about to sing "Running Away", it had begun to rain. It started pouring, but everyone was dancing and having a good time as it we were in the sunshine.

  • audrisrozelle, I was at Detroit's Hart Plaza for his BET Jazz show recording and as they started to play My Life "In the Sunshine" it started to rain but the sun remained shinning... nobody moved...

  • pure classic incognito comes close but roy u da man this is as smooth as it gets

  • This is roy's tune... long before D'Angelo, who made a great version. But nio reason to dis Roy Ayres.
