I wouldn't even compare these guys to mastodon.Two totally different bands with two totally different sounds.To me Mastodon is a little more show offy then Neurosis
this is hands-down one of my favorite albums of all time, and this song is so intensely beautiful. i just put it on to do homework to and i had to stop, sit here and listen instead. man.
Is someone seriously talking about a lack of atmosphere in Isis? Are you kidding me? Isis is an amazing band, and they are chock full of atmosphere. Neurosis also happens to be an amazing band, with just as much atmosphere. Influences are pointless, opinions are pointless. So shut the fuck up. Post-metal, and music in general, is meant to be enjoyed, not fought over. Let the music flow through you and forget about your petty argument.
Stop arguing, enjoy the music, Neurosis are incredible, so are the bands like Isis and Cult of Luna that cite them as influences. If someone else has a problem with it, the beauty of text is that you are not required to pay it any attention.
@APPLEAPPS1 i dont know what the fuck youre talking about when you say isis has no atmosphere. maybe i could understand someone thinking that about their first 2 albums, maybe even the third one, but in the absence of truth and wavering radiant are dripping with fucking atmosphere.
@APPLEAPPS1 lol yeah, clearly, when youve made no other points other than that you just simply know what youre talking about. good job retard, ill totally believe you when you cant even back up your reasoning.
@stonebasse I did listen to it dude, and in my opinion, I can hear both those bands in this song. Instrumental sound like a celestial-era Isis, while the vocals sound like troy from mastodon. Now of course, that's just me. No one else (probably) will make that connection but yeah, some of us do come up with some random comparisons. As post-metal goes, it's different, but I can still hear little flashes of other bands in the sounds. Please respect my opinion and don't have a go, thank you.
@malticdesign I'd say that you could hear Swans and Melvins in Neurosis, and Saint Vitus in them, and Black Sabbath in Saint Vitus, and a number of classic heavy blues bands in Black Sabbath
I know you're only proving a point, but I think we need to stop linking bands and getting in arguments about it.
@93riven Saying Isis is prententious crap rather needs a reason why, but fair does, it's not everyone's cup of tea. And it's based on preference, there is no band better than the other, they're all different. Of course, fanboys like you will just bitch a moan about this very comment, I'm suggesting we grow up a little and appreciate music and the bands that make it rather than this pointless one-up-manship.
i have listend to it more than 50 times...its like mother feeding yur lunch...beautifull..the whole album,,,very intense

this (and most songs by this band) is absolutely devastating, especially the end riff.

This album contains some of Neurosis' best work. I love it, 2nd only to A Sun That Never Sets.

@maruspiralout
Yeah... But ISIS and Mastodon have like no atmosphere compared to Neurosis. I mean, they're even less atmospheric than The Definitives

@ShiivaWilding I would disagree. I'd say you can hear Neurosis in Isis and Mastodon. As Neurosis came before both these bands.
Neurosis has been around since the 80s, Isis and Mastodon are its grandchildren, figuratively speaking.
